You only like it because you heard it in Guitar Hero!

One major reason I love games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band is because they expose people to music they might not normally listen to, and show the value of the music by immersing them in it. So here's the question: Is there any bands or genres that you now love after you were exposed to them in a music game like Guitar Hero?

For example, I used to hate the music of Jimi Hendrix. I thought his music sounded like a bunch of noise that he was trying to pass off as music. Then I played "Spanish Castle Magic" and I realized that this guy is the greatest guitarist ever!

I had to sign a contract that bans me from playing More Than A Feeling more than once per Guitar Hero session.

Spanish Castle Magic is actually really awesome in Guitar Hero. They made the song significantly less suck.

I always liked Pearl Jam, long before Even Flow popped up in Guitar Hero III, but I will admit that the selection for Guitar Hero 2 introduced me to music I never knew I'd like, particular Stone Temple Pilots and My Chemical Romance.

I totally know what you're talking about.

I have to admit, the only reason I know about the Scorpians is because of one of those singstar games. I found Wind of Change on it, and fell in love with it.

Several other songs from Guitar Hero 2 too. Like Sweet Child of Mine and other great songs.

Pffffffft. You guys and your Guitar Hero. Amplitude is where it's at.

But Amplitude has turned me on to quite a few bands, like Weezer, HMX and the like.

I didn't sign that contract.
LOOPHOLES, BABY! YEAH!

I found the Stray Cats through Guitar Hero. Well... that one song. But I liked it anyway. Other than that... nope.

Yeah, lately I've been more engrossed by Rock Band, personally. But another thing I just thought of is that there are some bands I now enjoy that I probably would never even heard of if it weren't for these games. I love Bang Camaro and Honest Bob but there is no chance I would have found out about them any other way.

Y'know, it kind of makes me sad that it takes games like Guitar Hero to turn people onto some of the greatest songs of all time.

I should be happy, though, because without GH and games like it, the younger generations wouldn't get to hear some of the songs that made music fanfuckingtastic when I was a kid.

Bottom line: rock on. :3nod:

Yes, I'm ashamed, although CJ should feel worse. I mean, THE SCORPIONS?! C'mon!
