Van Helsing!!!!!!

I am excited about the new movie coming out: VAN HELSING!!!
For those who have no clue what I'm talkin' bout: Van Helsing is a character from the original Dracula novel, and Stephen Sommers is directing a movie about him! But he's not only fighting Dracula, he's goin' all out to kick Frankenstein's and the Wolfman's butts as well! It's starring Hugh Jackman as VH, and Kate Beckinsale *shwing* as the romantic lead, a vampire hunter named Anna. I'm soooo excited

I am getting worried about this... At first, I was all for it and was anxiously waiting for it. Now I just saw the latest trailer, and I am severly worried about it's future. I can already sense a "Luke, I am your father" moment coming just from the trailer between Helsing and Dracula, and Dracula himself seems to have been changed a bit much for my liking. I am still keeping an eye on this, but it is a much more wary eye now...

Bram Stoker is spinning so fast in his grave he's going to fly out and orbit the earth, propelled by his own shame.

They should make a movie about that. Jerry Bruckheimer could direct.

I think Isaac Asimov is about to do that once they release I, Robot, but that belongs in another discussion...

And after seeing the preview in movie theaters when I saw Hellboy (One of the ones I was worried about but thought was awsome when I saw it), I gained a little more faith back. I am still worried, but I'm back to hoping that it will be good...

As long as the whole Dracula/Helsing connection isn't to corny or random (Or he is his son or something...), it shouldn't be to bad. My guess is the Dracula relation thing is something just added in for a bit more story instead of random monster killing.

Of course it's going to be stupid, it's an action movie -- the question is how much and what kind of stupidity you can put up with. If Van Helsing is even half as unintentionally hilarious as it looks in the trailers, that'll be enough for me.

I concur. The first time I saw a commercial I was a bit disappointed because it looked so corny... then I saw the same commercial again and actually cracked a grin at the part where he SOMEHOW jumps that carriage with six horses over that ravine... not to mention some of his lines and actions.
I'll be watching it to laugh at it.

It's the Devil May Cry factor -- so stupid and corny that you have to laugh, or else you'd cry.
