Does Anybody Go Back And Read Old Threads?

I have a few old threads bookmarked, like The Alliance thread, where I'm proud of some of my posts. I do like to look back and see how far the server has come, and how it has changed.

That makes me sound like a real nerd, doesn't it. (>>) But it's true. I do like checking out older stuff, too - I still know my way into the Rant and Drama subforum, and it's kinda neat to read posts there. Especially Fifth's last thread "DRAMA IT UP WHILE YOU CAN!"

Anybody else do this?

<shiney> Let's not actually link to the thread, as it still dredges up mostly forgotten crap that needs not be remembered.

I have the first and fourth Avatar RPs bookmarked, as well as the Cattle Rancher RP that was just Croteam and myself going back and forth making long, silly posts about cowboys for half a page.

Bookmarks aside, I do go back and read old threads occasionally. They tend to be RP threads, too. I know I've read the very first Calvinball thread and parts of a few others(the ones in the RP forum, not the Off-topic ones), and I've tried reading through Avatar RPs 2 and 5 (not that 5 counts as an old thread, yet). Then there are times when I see an interesting name in the forum leaders page, go back to find why they were banned, and end up reading a couple threads looking for their screw-up.

So, no, you're not alone.

"Shiney - Asshole or Shitface" has always been on my favorites list. Always. The thread was gold.

Tydeus' post-banning bandodge "Hey Come Visit the Penny Arcade Forums" was funny too, if only to see Kurosen dissect his arguments and hand him the steaming entrails post-banning.

The "UCLA Student Tasered By Police" threads were great too, more of Tydeus' talking for two maximum-word limit post only to have Fifthfiend or Mesden or myself shut him up with a few sentences.

Although I wasn't around then I still bookmarked that thread. Heh it was hilarious XD

I also look back to the Hug and Cuddlefest Thread (I wish I didn't come late to that awesome :() and some of the "Hey (insert member's name here), Fuck you" threads as they always give me a chuckle.

I'm another of those people who, for lack of anything else to do, will often go re-read threads where I remember something great happening.

I have the "Fifthfiend is a Douche" forum bookmarked, despite the fact that it no longer exists and therefore shows up as an invalid url.

I have this bookmarked for obvious reasons.

I have gone and read the old shitstorm that was the dramaramathreadz in the RaiRO section. Boy was that awesome.

I think in the nature of this thread, people should link to the threads they're talking about.

Especially this one.

Alright then.

Some of my favourites include terrible forum mistakes, the server bringing us together, a true classic, and discussions of mod-hood.

Every RP i have ever been in, including the bad ones, and anything I got a reference in.

Personal favorites are any Avvy RP thread, the only place on this forums that I have ever had any notoriety in.

What Video game character's wouldn't say, "Shiek, a True mystery." and "The Red Mage Game"

The Omakes and the Soldiers of Light discussion were in many ways sometimes better than the actual RP, so i always reread them. ('Cept they make me miss Dante).

The one thing that gets me when I read old posts is that I realize that I don't post as much or as well as I used to, and I fear I'm reaching a state of forum obsolescence when I'm too old or too busy to be an active forumite.

Legendary threads deserve it. Especially the ones that became legendary because of me.
