Wii Online
So, I've been trying my damnedest to play Brawl online, but I've been having the most impossible time.
I connected to one Play With Anyone game, and the game had like a two second delay, making it near unplayable. I'm not sure if it was the servers getting totally porked in the ass, but I have wireless connection to the internet. I was curious - would it be a better connection if I got the wired net adapter for the Wii? Also, is anyone Brawling lag-free right now? I'm not sure if I should give the game another shot yet. |
I have a wired connection and my connection is crap too. You're not the only one. I've tried every couple of days to play on Nintendo's servers but when it takes well over a minute to see 5 second tick off the match's timer I get frustrated and usually just leave the match. I am very disappointed with Nintendo's servers.

The "With Friends" option works great for me though. So I'm sticking to that for now. I did try the with anyone option, but I couldn't connect to the match so I was just like "yea...lets go back" after 30 seconds.

Nintendo has drastically underestimated the server load Brawl would bring (or they overestimated the ability of their servers).
You aren't alone by any means. |
I can play anyone without any serious lag most of the time. The problem with me is I'm usually stuck seeking for 10 minutes.

It's a bit of both, yeah. They didn't anticipate the load it would bring because let's face it no other Wii game, or even a DS game, has had this much anticipation for online play. They also thought they had better servers than they did. When all was realized, it was too late. More should be up soon to handle the load. :) |
I haven't had too much trouble with the with anyone feature. The first time the connection died, but I was trying to join at about 4:00 PM, when all the kids are home from school.
The couple times I've tried it worked fine, with only a little lag. Seeking took a while the first game, but after that it keeps you with the same people (adding in one or two as people leave), and subsequent games start much faster. What I've had trouble with is the with friends option, because nobody's really added me back and I can't seem to catch them online. :gonk: |
The strangest thing is Nintendo's response to the terrible Brawl servers.
"Lag? Your problem." |
I actually had an easier time playing anonymous brawl than I did the one time I played someone from NPF; that was all sorts of lag - with just three people to boot.
In the end, it just varies to who you're connecting to - random or not. |
I have no problem with friends, and I play BlackHBMage who's in Mexico, I sometimes have a problem with With Anyone, but crrently I stay away from that. Granted I haven't played in over a week to being busy, so the layout may have changed. I'm using the Lan Adapter with DSL, I get around 70 Kb/s to 140 Kb/s on my connection.
