Music Without Words In

Post-rock, video game compositions, electronica, cello metal...what pure-instrumental music do you turn to when the rest of your library starts feeling too overly loquacious?

I've been on a real post-rock/ambient listening jag lately. Explosions, This Will Destroy You, The Field, and some house stuff my girlfriend piles on me.

I like Nine Inch Nails's new album Ghosts I-IV, it's pretty smooth and quiet to listen to while I'm relaxing.

Or when I'm feeling more upbeat, Liquid Tension Experiment is the way to go.

I've suprisingly found quite a few good things on Newgrounds. It has a preety good audio selection, and you can found just about anything there. The best part, it is generally wordless, barring random pharses used once. And it's free to download.

Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin - everyone loves a classic. Or, should I say, the classics!

Jazz.

You name an instrumental Jazz standard, and I bet I've heard it.

Cancer Conspiracy has some pretty okay stuff if you're into that kind of thing.

It would probably qualify as post rock ambient listening, but I'm not really the person to know that kind of thing.

Mostly Bach. Bach rocks the boat hard.

I second this!

I feel more relaxed from listening to Mozart over Bach and Beethoven. Powerful & compelling classical music is as good as it gets in my book.

To be specific: Miles Davis, This Will Destroy You, Mogwai, and the new NIN mentioned previously.
