Frankie looks back down at the body, which is now covered by a sweater. "We're going to need room to perform the dispelling ritual... so we should move the body, and... we should probably take his guns, just in case..." He goes and gets a few more sweaters, wrapping them around David's legs. "Who's going to help me move him?"

"I believe the journal said something about it being used in the summoning of some kind of demon and disolving when the demon appeared. That is the part I believe my friend became delusional at, but I did some research into the matter and found a similar account during the middle ages. I just want to exhaust all possibilities, I owe my friend that much."

At the mention of a demon, Armitage's eyes go dark, and he says, "It looks like I failed in my mission then." He takes a few steps away and says, "I first stumbled upon the books in the Restricted List when a young student, a Mr. Allen, borrowed De Vermiis Mysteriis. One day after he returned it, there was the horrible "carriage accident", leaving one student dead and another institutionalized until the day he died. I went to see him once, near the end, and he is the one that first warned me. He mostly screamed and ranted insanely, but one day he was quite lucid, for a madman, and wanred of the beast. The thing they had unleashed from the De Vermiis Mysteriis. He said that it must be stopped before the last sorcerer fell, or all would be lost. He died a week later. I have been searching ever since, and while I started with the Mysteriis, I read it and moved on to others. It would take too long for you to read it, it took me the better part of two months to properly search it's depths, but I know what you seek. "The Spirit Guide of Nophru-Ka," the thing that was in this box. I have been reading furiously over the passages since yesterday. My old friend Dr. Merriweather died yesterday, and on the same day, a woman had gone missing out in the small town of Ross' Corner. I fear the thing they unleashed has finally been freed." He looks down, silent and in thought.
OOC: You can talk to him again. Just ask a question, make a comment and it will snap him back on track. |
"Dr. Merriweather is the friend of which I speak. Right now his other associates are in the house he left us attempting to determine the verasity of his claim."
|
"What?! They are at the house? Well... It will be safe during the day. The beast fears and hates light, and will do everything in it's power to avoid it. While the sun is risen in the sky, you are safe, but whatever you do, don't go back out after the sun sets!" The man says. He then says, "I have been searching, and have only found limited information on it. It fears no mortal physcial weapon, only powerful magics, and I know of no magic to help you. The only other way, is to say the summoning chant in reverse. You must set up everything as if you were summoning it, but if you reverse the chant, it will instead banish it. And you must speak it in it's original Latin! These spells I've found are very touchy about how to be cast, so stick with the original language. Hmm, other then that, I can't help much. Here, take these notes," He goes in the back, and quickly comes back out with a notpad full of notes. "This is everything I could discover on the monster and how to banish it. Go soon, and put an end to this nightmare for all of us. Perhaps you could inform me tomarrow of what happens." Then the odl man shoos you out, closing the door behind you, leaving you with the gold box, and Dr.Armitage's Notepad.

"Thanks a million for all your help."
Neil took the box back, and put it back into his briefcase. "That carriage accident seems to be consistent with the rest of the cases. So, do you wanna' hear about them since we need to head out anyways, or am I offending your sensibilities?" OOC: So what have i dug up thus far on this stuff? |
OOC: What stuff? The Lurker is a rare creature, and this is the second time one of it's kind has been summoned to the earth. Everything that has happened has happened in the last two days since the Lurker was freed.
|
OOC: I meant who the house belonged to, how all the other people who learned about this died, and the rest of that fun stuff that probably won't do anything to help, but looks good aesthetically.
|
OOC: I'll put it in the discussion.

Noone else had stepped forward to help move the body, so Henry sighed and cautiously made his way to David's body. Kneeling down, he lifted the sweaters slightly to look for the gun, making a face as he did so. With a shaking hand, he searched for the gun.
"I'll help move him, but we don't want anything shooting off at us. That...thing is bad enough, I don't need to worry about getting eaten AND shot." ooc-I wouldn't be surprised if Henry lost some sanity points while he did this, though he already knew what he was going to see I guess. |
