Square Enix + Deviantart = Contest

Basically everything is here:
http://news.deviantart.com/article/45697/

In short, Square and Deviantart have teamed up to make a contest where you can submit designs for heroes, villains, NPCs, backgrounds, monsters, etc for their upcoming game "The World Ends With You."

Prizes include:
10 Finalists will receive a copy of "The World Ends with You" game as well as a deviantART prize pack. deviantART prize pack will consist of a 6 month subscription, a deviantWEAR t-shirt and an Accessory pack.

1 Grand Prize winner will be selected from the group of the 10 Finalists. In addition to the game and the deviantART prize pack, the Grand Prize winner will receive a written critique of their winning submission from members of "The World Ends with You" development team.

I think it sounds quite awesome, and I'd like to try and think of some character sketches for this. Anyone else think they might try? If at least just for fun?

Good concept for the contest thing, but the game looks pretty phail. Like Kingdom Hearts but MORE emo.

Personally, I think the grand prize isn't as exciting in comparison to the prizes given to the other finalists. I thought it would've been something more, like adding the winning entry into the game or something. Not just basically a "Hey your art looks cool and stuff" from the development team.

Unless I'm missing something, the concept art for the "Noise" that they mentioned isn't posted. It's got everything except the non-human concept art, the one thing I was interested in....

Meh, seems interesting to do just for the hell of it.

Really? I thought that the critique from the staff sounded like the coolest thing, personally. ^^

And no I didn't see the "noise" on there, I don't think. But probably you can just make some cool bad guys.

It's actually pretty fun. Being able to play two different characters at the same time is a bit difficult, but the system is actually very intuitive and very actiony. You should play it.

I wouldn't call Kingdom Hearts emo (there's an abundance of primary colours in the character designs). More like snazzy. Still idiotic though.

The thing is, to me, a friend who knows what they're talking about in terms of art is just as good as a bunch of professional artists. Everyone's entitled to their opinions, though.

Forces beyond me have driven me into making this

But i mean... they changed from "it's wonderfull life" to "the world ends with you"

Ah to me, it's more like the difference in having an art student critique you vs having the professor do it. Plus the professional character designers would probably give it in terms of actual character designing, like things you should shy away from and such. And concept artist is, like, my ultimate dream job, so that might explain something. ^^;;

I'm working on a submission as we speak. =B

Ha! Touche.

Also, is it just me or does the female body structure for this game just awful? I mean, I understand wanting to exaggerate certain anatomical qualities (Which is seen in both genders), but I think they took it too far. Like, it's blatantly noted in their torso.

Examples:

Or maybe I'm just me being a bit too nitpicky..

The one with the bellybutton pierced, if she is younger than 20, you're not niptpicky. Is she is above 20 she is just slutty dressing
