What kind of music?

I was just wondering, what kind of music does everyone listen to here? I mean the genre of the music you listen to and maby some bands too...

Well I will start by telling you what is found from my CD case (or my computer):

1. Sepultura
2. Slayer
3. Pantera
4. Metallica
5. Testament
6. Machine Head
7. At The Gates
8. Cream
9. AC/DC
10. Hurriganes (It's a finnish band so I don't exept anyone to know them)
11. Eppu Normaali (also a finnish band...)
12. The Very Best Of The Blues Brothers
13. Beatles

I think thats it...well it's your turn now!

Broadly spoken, Rock. The more weird and odd, the better. And when I say "Rock" it's really just for lack of a better word and because most of it features a guitar... I'll just throw in some names.

Current 93
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
John Frusciante
Kumikameli (finnish... are they widely known over there?)
Eläkeläiset (equally finnish)
Ramones (most classic punk really, also e.g. the Misfits or the Stranglers)
Neil Young
Gun Club
NoMeansNo
Tom Waits

... the Moldy Peaches as of late... really, I could fill pages with my music collection and, more so, my attempts to explain it.

Kumikameli? Never heard of them, but Eläkeläiset I have heard of...did you now that kumikameli means a rubber camel...Ramones is also good...have you heard of the Hurriganes...they played rock...

Ska. I'm pretty sure all the non-ska people are pretty sick of the ska people by now, but I'll post anyway. Big Two-Tone guy, really, more into that wave than first or third wave, but third wave is the easiest to get, so I'll put most of that on here. Besides ska, maybe some punk and alternative, though I'll listen to just about anything except country. Sorry country people, I just can't stand the music, nothing against it.

1. The Mighty Mighty BossToneS
2. The Toasters
3. The Specials
4. The Skatalites
5. Laurel Aitken
6. Kemuri
7. Flogging Molly (not ska)
8. Harvey Danger (not ska)
9. Mustard Plug
10. DanceHall Crashers
11. Less Than Jake
12. Mad Caddies
13. They Might Be Giants (of course, not ska)
14. Two and a Half White Guys
And many others, if you order now! (man that was a stupid joke)

Favorite Band: Definitely the BossToneS. I'm so much of a fan, I'm even spelling their name with the random capitilizations. Most energetic, classy, brilliant bunch of guys ever in a band. Howwhywuz, Howwhyam, 747/shoe glue, and Dogs and Chaplains/Drugs and Kittens/Doves and Civilians are some of the greatest songs ever written. I'll stop now before I write a poem about their brilliance.

Oh Mighty Mighty BossToneS, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

Classic Rock, mid-60s to mid-70s. The Beatles, The Who, Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin, mostly, but a lot of other bands from that era as well. Also some modern stuff like Coldplay and (just recently discovered) Jet.

Uuuuuhhhhh... SKA
yep that's my kinda music and some melodic/skate punk (none of that Pop-punk crap, no offence if you like it i don't though.) I can't forget Flogging Molly and all that Irish punk type stuff.

BlackMageLordofHell 03-26-2004 07:07 PM

Two general kinds: gentle sweet type music, and loud violent music. Also, gloomy moody depressed music.

BANDS/ARTISTS:
Metallica
Rob Zombie
Disturbed
Godsmack
Linkin Park
Limp Bizkit
Savage Garden
Evanescence
Avril Lavigne

And almost any song I have an AMV of.

So BlackMageLordofHell do you listen to such bands as Norma Jean, Zao, Daughters, Darkest Hour, Static X? They're REALLY loud and violent you should take a listen if you like loud violent, that is if you havn't heard them allready.

Pearl Jam
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Queen
Texas Faggot
Scooter
Hellmarch by westwood studios

ah, well...

Literally almost anything with about three stipulations

1:Not country (with few exceptions... generally, more rock & pop infused country gets my attention)
2:Not "Urban" music (Again, few exceptions. Funk influenced stuff grabs my attention in the right way, as well as less repetative music & loops)
3: Must be Good. I love any genre of music... but only what I consider the best, or most enjoyable. Some artists who are considered gods, i find boring and trite, despite musical ability.

Some highlights of my iTunes playlist:

Abba (yeah, just shut up)
Tom petty
outkast
orcestrated music (esspecially game soundtracks... most of Nobuo Umetsu's FF soundtracks are really excellent and enjoyable IMO)
Bush
Cake
assorted '80s one hit wonders
REM
Nirvana
Third eye blind
Linkin Park
Ace of Bass
Cheap Trick
David Bowie
Eagles
Foreigner
Journey
Green Day (sort of)
Jimmy eat world
No doubt
Ozzy
Assorted underground rock bands (Alien Crime Syndicate, anyone?)
The police
Santana
Early-to-mid '90s soft-alt-rockers (Sister Hazel, etc)
Weezer
Wallflowers
Moby

There's more, but meh. Why waste space?
