my vote goes for rescue rangers.
you heard me.

and yet there's so little porn of it around, just like smurfs.

nobody heard that part.

I feel that we must move past the roadkill and get on with a delightful thread of beautiful childhood memes...memories.

What the fuck happened to the Power Rangers? After Power Rangers in Space (and yes, I am aware this is a stretch) the show became utterly awful. Honestly, there doesn't need to be a new set of Rangers every 10 episodes.

Though I did grow up with a Genesis...

I loved that, it was like Loony Tunes except with a hedgehog instead of a rabbit.

I didn't see enough of the second Sonic toon to really follow the story, but I would have liked to. I did collect the Archie comics it was directly based on for a very long time. (Including the Tails and Knuckles solos.)

That 30 minute video is the first I've seen of the third Sonic toon and wtf a rock band? It's kinda funny, but not as funny as the fact that it's probably better than the stories in the 3d Sonic games.

And Oh man, Loony Tunes reruns on Cartoon Network. Thank god for those. And then later the late-night Tex Avery reruns.

Daimo Mac, The Blue Light of Hope 05-30-2008 12:07 AM

SatAM Sonic 'toon or no Sonic 'toon. That's my credo.

Really. Look at yourselves. Look at what we've become.

And I say "what we've become" because:
Apart, they are nothing. But together they are mighty.

Mirai Gen 05-30-2008 03:54 AM

Dude. It's me.

You're damn right I'm going to argue the shit out of Transformers. Giant robots are always awesome and as time goes on the cartoons will start to catch up to that fact.

And TF:Animated looks strange but it's great for the TransFan.

EDIT: Looking back I love reading Mesden's overwhelmingly positive reaction to my tattoo. I'm not quite sure why.

Kaneda 05-31-2008 02:06 AM

I grew up mostly on educational (albeit awesome) telvision and subsequently missed out on the majority of action oriented shows.

Also, holy shit after all these years I have finally discovered the name of that one show was "Bump in the Night" thanks to this thread.

Q F fucking T! And I used to wake up early weekday mornings to catch the Super Mario Bros Super Show when Sonic wasn't on.

Also, anyone remember that DuckTales movie where they went to Scotland? I remember thinking that had one of the deepest plots I'd ever seen.

Mirai Gen 05-31-2008 03:01 AM

I don't remember when they went to Scotland, but I remember them encountering Merlock and Genie which was a totally fantastic cartoon movie.

And hell yes, SatAM Sonic.

God damn Sonic sucks so badly lately with the Sonic comics, games, and cartoons it makes me wonder if it'll ever be decent again.

Bob The Mercenary 05-31-2008 09:46 AM

Oh wait. I guess it wasn't a movie, just a really good episode. "The Curse Of Castle McDuck."

holy shit, I actually remember that cartoon vividly.

Man the early to mid nineties was great to be a kid. Good games and good cartoons.

Wyndon 05-31-2008 11:58 AM

....Jonny Quest.

Kaneda 05-31-2008 12:56 PM

Am I the only one who's nostalgia is primarily mid 90s edutainment?

Not quite a cartoon, but I feel like mentioning that Kratt's Creatures was just about the greatest television show ever.

Seil 05-31-2008 01:51 PM

Mighty Max. I totally had a plastic head that opened up and turned into an evil lair and junk. Now I just have to remember if Max was a toy or a TV show. Can we make a thread about awesome toys?

Savage Thinking 05-31-2008 08:20 PM

You know, I was at Gamestop today and I was reminded of a show. I'm not sure if it's been posted up before, but back in the day, I really thought this show was badassery in cartoon form.

Man I hated that one.
The best one was where they meet up with all the Greek gods like "Aphroducky". Also the pilot where they went to Peru.
If you liked duck tales I highly recommend hunting down the Scrooge McDuck comics about before he made his fortune. They totally awesome and floating around internet somewhere.

Mirai Gen 06-01-2008 01:33 AM

I totally remember those.

Like when they found a volcano in the middle of nowhere, and Flintheart Gromgold and Scrooge both went after it at the same time, and it was on the center of the international date line, and both of them declare it in their name, and then they suddenly realize that the boat driver actually claimed it five minutes ago when he spiked the rope to the boat on the island.

"What you heard was an optical illusion!"

Oh good times.

mauve 06-02-2008 11:50 AM

I never liked Duck Tales as much as Rescue Rangers or Darkwing Duck. Oh man, when I was six or seven I used to demand that my parents call me Gadget because I was so obsessed with Rescue Rangers.

Also-- Fraggle Rock was awesome.

Holy shit, it's Akira with anthropomorphic mice.

Cid Highwind 06-05-2008 05:38 PM

Holy shit, I remember 90% of these, and they were all awesome! I think all I ever did was watch tv as a kid, but only because I couldnt afford enough videogames. The only one I can think of that wasnt mentioned, was this. And it was awesome. Sometimes shitty writing though, but what the hell.

Oh, and why does baroness have to be so hot? It sears the mind.

Well, its entirely true I had a sega genesis, 5 games, two of which sucked, and somehow it managed to take up 20% of my free time for like, 5 years. 2 of which were AFTER Sony Playstation.
