Hooking up a mic
I know this sounds dumb, but serious;y, I cant get my mic working. THeres a clearly labeled mic slot right on the front of the computer, but it aint waorking. No audio is recorded when I talk in. Waht do I do?
|
Check your computer's volume settings if the microphone isn't turned off.
You may laugh, but I had to check just now, too. (And it was off.) |
See if you have on in the back of your computer, and try that one. The one on the front just might not be hooked up to anything.
|
The one on the back didnt do anything. Its not the mic, its old (from my 98 Dell) and cant be turned on/off. Im pretty sure my internal valoume is turned up, but in case Im wrong, how do I go about doing that?
|
Usually there should be a little speaker symbol on the lower right of your task bar, right next to the clock, which you can double-click to show various options.
If not, it's in your system settings under "sounds and audio devices" - you have to click "expanded" in the register card labelled "volume". (All this might be named slightly differently on an actual English language system, mind.) |
Thats all set to max.
|
Sometimes it selects another source.
You can also select Options->Properties to get a dialog box. In here, select "Recording" instead of "Playback." The sliders should now show your recording sources (you can add/remove what is displayed with the check boxes in the dialog box). Make sure that the microphone is what is selected.
If it is, then I would suggest, if possible, borrowing another mic and seeing what happens. |
Okay, it must be my mic. Im gonna grab a headset soon. Can someone reccomend me a not too exspensive one that can work with a PS3 and PC?
|
Firstly go to the Device Manager and see if the mic is recognised and the ports are all working.
|
The mic does not register. Its not USB, its old.
