Halo: In the Soldier's eyes
I have just started to get back into the popular X-box/computer game Halo, and an interesting idea popped into my head. We all know about the Master Chief and his works to save humanity, but what about the Marines? That's where we come in!
If you don't know the story all ready, I'll put up a quick prolouge later, but right now, I just want to make sure people are going to be interested in this. Note that you cannot be Master Chief, but I'm going to cut you off at that. You can be any kind of human you want. Marine, Bridge operator, Medic, let your ideas run wild! Any takers? |
*cries* *has never played Halo*
|
(gasps)
Someone in this world who has not played Halo? I thought that was only a story book fairy tale! Don't worry about it. I'll just put up a blurb about it if enough people want to do it. To those who don't know, it's just a bunch of humans trying to defend themselves against a bunch of aliens called Covenant. That's just the summed up version. |
As in some sort of RP? if so, wouldn't that get boring because just about everyone except for master chief dies a few minutes after meeting said convenant.
|
LEMME IN LEMME IN! I always hoped something like this would pop up.
|
(Sighs) I would change the story a bit. C'mon! It's just based off the game, not it IS the game. Trust me... I've thought it all out. I know what I'm doing.

And MC knows what he's doing. And (in case you didn't figure it out,) I AM SO IN THIS!!! |
What do the covenant look like? And is there any Halo info sites that anyone has links to?
|
There is easily a million out there. Just go to your local web search site, and type in Halo. You should find something quick.
|
Okay well i would like to join. Ill be a technician.
|
I've just been installed as co-GM for this RP, and I'm here to help. First off, a good Halo information site would be halo.bungie.org. It's the largest non-Bungie controlled Halo site. It will have all the information you need...plus more.
Now on to everybody's favorite religious fanatics...THE COVENANT!!! The Covenant are a conglomerate of alien races. Most of them have been assimliated into the group by the two major leading races, the Prophets and the Elites. The reason the Covenant are on a genocidal rampage against humanity is as follows...Their gods told them to do it. (sound familiar?). Anyway, here are the races that make up the Convenant, and what their purposes are. (I'll cover weaponry later). Grunts: Standing about 5'8", these guys look like blue bipedal dogs...and kinda simian in appearance as well. They have large methane breather tanks on their backs, as well as a breath mask on their face (they come from a methane-atmoshpered planet). Grunts are not too bright, and are prone to running around like idiots whenever trouble starts. However, they are tenacious and usually fight in packs of 3-5 soldiers. They carry plasma pistols, needlers, Feul-Rod Bazookas, and plasma grenades. They aren't too good with any of these weapons, and offer little resistance to the UNSC. Simply put, these poor bastards are cannon fodder...and fun to kill. 3 ranks (defined by armor): Gold(Rookie), Red(Veteran), Black(Elite Guard) Jackals: Standing almost 6 feet tall, these guys look like avian vultures. Why they are called "Jackals" is beyond me. A little smarter and tougher than grunts, Jackals carry circular personal shields that can withstand a good amount of gunfire before going out. They carry plasma pistols only, and like to fire them on overload (think the equivalent of Mega Man's Mega Buster) Elites: The warrior commander race. They have the starships, and as such are only second to the Prophets in power. A typical Elite stands about 8 feet tall, and looks sort of like a bipedal lizard of some kind. Higlhy intelligent, they have full armor suits (a gray bodysuit with armor plating on vital areas), and personal sheilding that is more powerful than Jackal shields. They carry plasma rifles, needlers, plasma swords, and plasma grenades. They are extremely tough, and should be fought at long range. There are 5 ranks of Elite, defined by armor color. Blue(Rookie), Red(Veteran), Gold(Commander), White(invisible assasin and spec-ops), and Black(Elite Guard). The white ones have cloaking devices, but no shields. Only Elites are allowed to drive Covenant vehicles (I'll cover that later too.). Hunters: 12 foot tall orange death lizard, although they compress to 8 feet when fighting. These behemoths have indestructible blue armor covering 90% of their body (lower back and neck are exposed), as well as a medieval style shield. They have a feul-rod cannon for a weapon, as well as spikes on their back that could rip an unarmored human in two. Best way to defeat these slow moving aliens is to get behind them and shoot them in the exposed back. One shot is all it takes. They are also vulnerable to being run over or hit with a rocket. And if you thought one of these things were bad enough...they hunt in packs of two ALWAYS. Scientists (Halo 2): Weird octopus things. Basically are really smart, and are capable of building, repairing, and modifying things. Don't really care whose side their on, but they raise one hell of an alarm when they get shot. Don't interact with the other classes. Brutes (Halo 2): Think of an Elite on Steriods and you have this guy. Basically Brute Force combat, with very litte weaponry usage. I don't think they have shields either. Prophets (Halo 2): Space popes, plain and simple. The religious leaders of the Covenant. Very well guarded. Since they wear thick cloaks, it's hard to ascertain their appearance...although one Elite in Halo: The Flood thought prophets look rat-like. |
*never played Halo either*
Can we be these covenant thingies? I could be an Elite or Prophet. |
Uh... I was kind of hoping that we would be a group of Marines trying to face the struggle of Halo, but I'll see. If there is enough interest in it, I might allow it.
|
I think I'll stick with being a Marine. Hey, Wolf, how about you tell us about the marines?
|
I got this one. (This is from the book)
THE MARINES - A rugged and diverse assortment of soldiers, the marines on the Pillar of Autumn (The ship that crash lands on Halo) are fighting a losing battle against the Covenant's superior weaponary and numbers. Under the leadership of Captain Keys they continue to wage a furious struggle against the Covenant, even as their numbers dwindle. They're the best of the best - but they're only human. Basically, think of all the world's armies rolled up into one big mass to defend the earth. They can be any race, color, background, and have their own talents and faults. |

Halo was heaps of fun and (as long as we keep it going) this RP should be too. Im in.
|
MC pretty much has the Marines description correct, So I'll leave that alone. I do agree with the statement that if anybody wants to be a Covie soldier (and remember, MC has the final say on whether or not that is doable.), you'd have to be an Elite. And also, prophets are not fighters. They basically float around on the starships and tell the elites how freaking great they are.
But I digress. On to weaponry. UNSC MA5B Assault Rifle- It fires on full auto, and has a 60 round clip. It is the weakest weapon in the UNSC arsenal...and has absolutely no redeeming qualites other than the fact that it has a compass. I say we should use the next weapon... MA5B Mk. II (don't know real name) (Halo 2)- Now THIS is an assault rifle. It fires on semi-auto, and only has a 30 round clip, but it has better stopping power, as well as a 2x scope. Think of it as the 26th century M16. In fact, until I learn the real name, I'm calling it the MA16B. MD9 Pistol- Fun little gun. It's a 12 round pistol with great stopping power. It also has a 2x scope. Crack-shots can take out Covenant Elites with only 5 shots. Marine sidearm and technician primary weapon. Magnum Pistol (Halo: First Strike): MD9 on crack. Has magnum bullets and is more powerful, but no other differences. Submachine Gun (Halo 2): Fast firing weapon on par with the MD9. Can go Akimbo. Has a 30 round clip. S2 Sniper Rifle: 4 round clip and a 2x and 10x zoom. The ultimate Elite killer. Can punch through their shields and keep going. Jackhammer Rocket Launcher (SPNKR): Has a 2-rocket clip and 2x zoom. Good for killing Elites, Hunters, and vehicles. Shotgun: Perfect for clearing the Covie bastards out. It has an 8 round capacity, and fires at a decent rate. Uses magnum load shells. Flamethrower: CRISPY GRUNTS! Good close range, but since its only available in multiplayer, I have no clue how well it works against Elites. Fragmentation Grenade: You throw it and it goes BOOM! COVENANT Plasma Pistol: Can fire on auto or be overcharged to fire a super blast that can take out an Elite's shields. Only problem is that once you deplete the battery, you have to find another. Firing on full auto also shuts down the gun for a few seconds so it can cool off. Plasma Rifle: Like the plasma pistol, but without the overcharge, also slightly more powerful. Has same heating and battery problems. Needler: 20 round clip of sharp pointy needles that will stick into any soft target and then detonate. The more needles in the target, the bigger the blast. Will bounce off vehicular armor and Jackal shields, but Elite Shields cannot stop the needles. Feul Rod Bazooka: Favored by Black Grunts, this basically shoots a powerful plasma shot (Pistol overcharge *2) in an arc at a target. Very powerful blast. Also carried by Hunters. The problem with this weapon is that the grunt version, once a grunt using one is killed, will explode via an anti-theft device...not fun. And the Hunter one is integrated into the armor, so that can't be taken either. Plasma Sword: Think lightsaber. Gold and White Elites carry these. Plasma Grenade: Throw it, see it stick to an enemy, then watch it go BOOM! Vehicles will come later. EDIT: I just added the shotgun...how I forgot that is beyond me (kicks self). |
Mmm very interesting it should be fun to tke on a role of a Marine that has to face the Covenant but main question of mine... how many weapons?
|
If it were up to me, I'd say two weapons at a time plus grenades, but it's MC's call.
Also, in regards to AndyBloodredMage's choice of class...I congratulate you for picking the class with one of the greatest lines ever in the game... "I'm a cowardly Fool!!!" (while shooting MD9 blindly.). In all seriousness though, a technician would be benificial to the Marines, especially when it comes to disabling the anti-theft devices on the FR Bazookas. |
Thank you, I feel most proud. Also, I still could use weaponry if the need arose, which, if memory serves, most if not all military people are required to take at least basic training in terms of arms.

Yes. The second one was also in Halo: First Strike. It really is a much better rifle, and I say we use it instead of the crappy one from the first game.
|
So when do we start submitting profiles?
|
Good question. I'd hop on this one if I get the chance
|
Alright, MC is going to be out of contact for about a week, so he told me to get you guys to start submitting profiles. I'm going to create a new topic for you to do this in. Before I go, I will now cover the fun vehicles that dominate the Halo universe
UNSC Vehicles M12 LRV "Warthog": Basically, a futuristic Jeep. It seats 3 (including gunner), moves pretty fast, is good at off-roading, and is armed with a triple-barrell chain gun (that has limitless ammo, figure that.) Scorpion MBT: The UNSC's battletank. Armed with a cannon and a machine gun. Can seat 4 Marines on the tread shields. Pelican Dropship: Fyling bus of the UNSC. Carries 10 soldiers, can transport vehicles, and is armed with a 70mm chaingun, and twin HE-Anvil II rocket pods (16 rockets a pod.) Longsword Interceptor: UNSC fighter jet. Capable of space and atmospheric flight. Looks a lot like a futuristic stealth fighter. Seats two. Armaments not known right now, possibly Anvil-II missiles. Covenant Vehicles Ghost: Think of a hovering purple motorcycle, and you get this thing. It moves fast, has light armor, and is armed with twin plasma cannons. Shade Gun Turret: Not exactly a vehicle, but I felt I should mention it. It's a stationary plasma turret that has the same properties as the plasma turret on the Covie dropships. Can be crewed by Elites or Grunts. Wraith Tank: Basically shoots plasma mortars with a lot of area damage. The only ways to kill these things are with Banshees, FRBs, Scorpions, or Jackhammer Missiles Banshee: Covenant Atmospheric Fighter. Teardrop shaped, with two wings and two thrusters on said wings. Armed with two plasma cannons and a Feul Rod Torpedo launcher. Seraph: Covenant Space Fighter. Most likely looks like a Banshee with a few differences. Is armed the same way too. That's all for now. I'm now off to post the sign-up thread. It will be called "Halo: ITSE Recruitment Drive". See you all there. |
