Guitar Hero: Now With Not Just Guitars!

http://kotaku.com/382246/guitar-hero...of-instruments

Apparently Guitar Hero isn't just going to have guitars anymore. I get the distinct feeling that after Harmonix sold the license to Activision and made Rock Band, Activision got a bit jealous.

Now I'm not totally sure if this is so terrible. I know it's a knee-jerk moneymaking reaction, but Harmonix already stated they were going for a game that was more about making music together and less about completing ridiculously difficult songs (Dragonforce).

The one thing I'm not going to like is Rock Band incompatibility, which you know is going to happen.

Thoughts?

Hands up, who didn't see this coming?

For some reason, I'm just sick of the whole Guitar Hero series. GH3 just left me with a sour taste of disappointment in my mouth, and all the marketing and spin-offs that are coming just make me feel as though they've milked it too far already.

Bring on Rock Band.

I don't like the idea. Even though they're similar, Rock Band and Guitar Hero are two different games. While Rock Band is more of a party, Guitar Hero is focused on the Guitar(duh), both of them getting two different types of music and gameplay.

GH adding more instruments will just result in a half-assed Rock Band, unable to do either the party or the Guitar.

Ever since Harmonix left GH, the song chord progressions just ended up feeling so sloppy... also the DLC for GH3 is a fucking joke.

Rock Band is getting new content every week and they have a lot more planned...
Hell, they have even said that there might not ever be a Rock Band II and that they will just keep adding patches and more DLC to the game.. which is awesome!
GH now just throws out 5 or 6 songs and then makes a whole new "Game" or as I like to call them what they really are: Expansion packs (See: GH: Aerosmith).

It is because of that "expansion" pack that I will never buy another GH game.

I am sorry but the Aerosmith "game" could easily be a downloadable expansion pack.

I hate to say it but the Guitar Hero series has peaked.

Rock Band has Still Alive, and will therefore be 10x better than anything GH could push out, easily.

Seriously though, it just wouldn't be Guitar Hero if there's more than the guitars. Then it just turns into Rock Hero. And then...

"Our Rock is better than your Rock!"
"Nuh-uh!"
"Yah-huh!"

Only if they reduce the price to $1 a song.

I am actually fine with most of the songs being $2..
Here is why: Not only do they need the money to license the song, but they also gotta take the time and effort to make a Guitar note track, a Bass note track, a Drums track AND a singing track...

Thats a lot of effort to put into one song.

Actually GH: Aerosmith isn't going to be that bad. Rumor mill said it was going to be the next version of Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s (Which was GHII recolored, with 80s songs and no bonus songs, leaving the tracklist at like 30), but apparently they're doing music in the same vein as Aerosmith, like Cheap Trick, bringing the tracklist up.

I mean I totally agree because GH:Aerosmith is going to be yet another 'half a game' but at least they're acting like they're trying to avoid it.

Guitar Hero had better kill over and die after 3, because 2 was the peak and 3 really had Dragonforce, Pearl Jam, Tenacious D, and Scorpions. And that was it. I merely see this as an opportunity to get our apeshit difficult songs for drumming and singing.

I know what you are saying but in this day and age of DLC content, there really is no reason not to just make it all downloadable for GH3.

I mean, I bought 30 songs from the Rock Band store already and they keep releasing more every week.
