Eurogamer: So that's Golden Sun DS, yeah?

Takahashi brothers: It would be great, wouldn't it! [Laughing] We want to play that game too, just as much as you. We love Golden Sun! We are working on a lot of different things - a lot of different design documents and so on, including some different RPG ideas. Don't worry, we're thinking about RPG stuff! We've got all these ideas, many many different things we're thinking about - but of course, we still have just one team, so we'll see what happens.

:gonk:

I hope their next game is for the DS or Wii and is at the very least a spiritual successor to the best RPG of the Game Boy Advance. I imagine the corporate meetings go like this:

Quote:

Takahashi brothers: We want to do Golden Sun DS.

Iwata: Did you say you want to do Mario Golf DS? Awesome!

Takahashi brothers: No, no! You know, Golden Sun? That JRPG game!

Iwata: OH! And Mario Tennis DS too? Oh guys! Thank you so very much!

Takahashi brothers: We are an RPG company!! We want to make RPGs!!!

Iwata: ...a training game too?

Takahashi brothers: No... no.... eh... We'll just stick with Mario Sports games.....

Iwata: *gets a phone* Howdy! Howze it gone, MonolithSoft? How are those RPGs going?

Monolithsoft: SO awesome!

Takahashi brothers: :(
So in this thread we whine about business decisions and show our love for Golden Sun.

So... business decisions?
Don't mind if I do.

FUCK YOU EA!
Where in the hell did you come up with the idea that only THREE countries in Europe wanted to play Rock Band!?
And for that price too!? Christ, idiots!

Do you mind if I steal that whole post and stick it on my Nintendo forum?

Wish I still had my copy of TLA. I had some pretty bitchin characters and all the djinn.

Yeah, Golden Sun is arguably, in my opinion, one of the greatest RPGs ever made.

Well, at least they haven't ruled out the possibility of making it after they get done with their current project. And if they're making an RPG, that would be cool.

I disagree only on the grounds that the story was seriously Kingdom Hearts II bad in level of plot pacing.

The system was fantastic but let's be honest here, if you want to be one of the greatest you have to be at least close to the level of Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Super Mario RPG, Earthbound, or anything like it.

I was totally cool with Golden Sun up until Lemuria turned out to be a shithole after which I was still kind of cool with Golden Sun up until you got to the next game and your main character who was the silent protagonist in your first game ponces off to do other stuff and the other character who had been antagonizing your group becomes the main character who is now a silent protagonist despite having talked like all the time in the first game.

Actually I still liked it okay I just never got around to finishing it and I think I accidentally deleted my emulation file um er I mean erased my game cartridge so yeah.

I don't know that I funned as hard on it as on FFTA but it was pretty fun all the same.

That was more or less one of the points where I was thinking that Camelot only knew how to follow in footsteps.

It's like, sure, make a silent protagonist. That's fine. But I really think they totally forgot why you make a silent protagonist, instead just making it so Main Character Of Game = unspeaking.

The game was great but absolutely no characters in the party had any sort of real personality when they were in your party. Felix and Jenna were wonderful when you weren't playing them in Golden Sun: TLA, which is really stupid.

Man, the sheer amount of time I spend wandering around the western sea looking for that goddamn trident. And then BAM! The plot just falls out at you.

I love the fakeouts at the very end though. Esp. when the water guy gets totally owned by the super-eyeball.

Mirai Gen 04-23-2008 02:01 AM

You mean Alex?

It was pretty cool how Alex basically did all of that just so he could usurp power from the Wise One, only to find out, nice try jackass.

But it seemed to me that the entire plot was just a big excuse to do that, which is kind of lame, considering I had no real affection for any of the main eight characters by the end, or Kraden, or any of them. It was a badass game (Though the final Lighthouse was hard as shit) and the engine was great, but ugh, the plot was awful.
