What percentage of your life do video games take up?

I am asking this because I want to get a viewpoint on the gaming priority of people's lives who talk on a video game forum. The options that I will list on this thread (which will come a little after this thread is posted) will list percentages and I will explain them in this post.

Please note: I do not mean the percentage of time you take per day on video games.... so don't think that if you play 8 hours a day, it takes 33% of your life. It takes a LOT MORE than that!!!

0% means you don't play video games. Period.

1%- means you play maybe 5-10 minutes once in a while when you're stressed, maybe once every 2-7 days or more. You just use it as a small stress reliever.

2-5% means 10-15 minutes every day as a stress reliever. 30 minutes at most. Note that I said 30 minutes AT MOST, so if you play 30 minutes every day, you belong under 6-15%.

6-15% means you play up to 45 minutes each day on average. Sometimes less, and you don't mind to skip days of playing if you have a big project, or something.

16-30% means you have a small collection of games, play about 30-60 minutes each day, and you care somewhat about your online status in online games. You may play even 2 hours some days. You still don't mind to skip a day of playing, but less often.

31-50% means you play 2-4 hours each day on average. This is when your grades or work habits start to slip because of games. You care quite a bit about your online status, and you won't likely skip a day of playing if you have a big assignment or something.

Over 50% means you play MORE THAN 4 hours every day, and never skip a day of playing. You have a great devotion to your online status, and you would choose a day of getting your RPG character (for example) to a high level rather than a day of having fun and playing basketball with your friends. You even think about video games quite a bit when you're not playing them. If you choose this, you may seriously want to reconsider your gaming priorities.

Video games have a strong hold on me. They have since I was aout 3. Plus I don't have much to do outside and my nearest friend is about a mile away and I don't see my friends very often, so I play video games or watch tv to pass the time. I prefer to play the games though.

I have to say that i can only qualify for the 31-50% cataory. but only because i'm a full time student and i have a part time job, and that cuts into alot of game time.

I barely made it into the 16-30% area. Actually, I play alot of music games, like amplitude, frequency, DDR, gitaroo man, as well as alot of RPGs.

I really don't play that much, anymore, but I try to get a bit of game time in once and a while, and I play alot whenever I get a new game, or are trying to beat an old one. I'm also kind of a retro gamer, not atari retro, but Saturn retro, Nes and Super NES retro. I need more of those games.

Of course, the rest of my life isn't taken up by work, but by the forums here, my blog, and television, so its not like I have a life anyway.

Don't worry, it's a GOOD thing that you don't qualify for 50%+. Although you may not be the best player online, the guys that kick your ass will probably be shining your shoes when you get older :)

No offense to the 50+ guys

I put myself in the 31/50% range simply because when i picck up a game I have a tendency not to put it down. But if nothing interests me, i wont play. I have never played an online game, and slowly i am beginning to get a life. Thank god for good books.

Whoo! That friend is me! Yay!

*ahem*

I'd say that I'm stuck between 31-50% and above 50% because on weekdays, I play as much as I can, but I get home from school at about 5:45, and plus dinner, homework, and That 70's Show, that leaves about an hour for video games. But on the weekends, I think my time is spent either with video games or on this forum.

Id say I probally play about an hour when I get home from school with my friends on w3, but on the weekends I tend to go out and socialize with my friends quite a bit. When I get a new game thats good, though, I can play for upto 8 hours at a time, forgoing sleep, food, bathroom, or any human contact whatsoever.
