I think it's just about all Thief's fault. Though, invaluable war technologies from another age could prove to be very very valuable after all- If Warmech doesn't kill them all first. I'm foreseeing Warmech turning this into another death trap incident, one way or another...These faulty things just aren't meant to hold futuristic killer war-bots these days.

Anyone else sense a "I hate Thief." moment from Black Mage?

I agree with Brian (probably because its the easiest thing to do), Don't ever say forever. Tis always bad for you? unless of course you say forever about something negative for you, for example, Black Mage says that White Mage will hate him forever, then she won't hate them, and then we'll have 8-bit porn running rampant, with new Red Mages appearing, OH GOD THE HORROR, babys too min/maxed to die, all of them with thier beast sexing abilities and crossdressing, DD breasted men, *shivers*, and since Brain hates us (yes, we've caught on) this will happen. WHAT HAVE I DONE?!?!?!??

I really can't blame Thief for this; I'd have done the exact same thing. So yes, this is clearly all RMs fault.
