2) Hm... Hey, YOU'RE the one that offered. You should do it out of the infinate kindness of your heart. Other than that..... Gratitude? A free coupon to Dairy Queen? But, I don't need your help anyway. I've got most of the information already, I just have to organize it, and figure out a way for it to take more than 5 minutes, but less than 7. |
1) Due to the link krylo provided on page 3, my suggestion is perfectly legal (If I am right about what state you live in).
2) I would require my original assumption as a reward. And what I do when I need more time is repeat several things over and over, but just change the words. Like at the begining of his biography list off all of his books, then later mention all of those books again when you get to his life in the stages where he wrote the books (This is a small example, you will need several of these). |

I make lots of speeches at school in speech class (Yet never talk to anyone nomrally... Ironic...), and I'm generally regarded as being pretty good (I once made a speech on why I didn't have a speech prepared... I got an A.), so go with these.
Make sure to put emotion in it. Content is less important then effort, depending on the teacher. Revisit topics. Make sure to at least sound different, but as long as it sounds new, even if you already said it, teachers usually let it pass. If you get really going, take a pause or two to collect yourself. Gives you extra 3-6 seconds each time. However, I usually talk about Politics or Censorship, so it is stuff I care about. It is harder if you are bored off your rocker. But emotion is usually important. If you don't care about teh topic, but want to do a good job, if there is someone in the class your really want to beat, just focus not on doing a great job, but put all your energy into doing a better job then them, and usually it works out okay. Worked when I had to give a mind-numbing speech in AP Government... |

EDIT: and with feeling, of course, thanks for reminding me FZ. My teacher said that making the report interesting will be a major part, not just speaking in monotone the whole time. Oh yes, and I just read this in the other thread, and I know I'm a thread late to defend myself but THIS: Quote:

Teacher's say they want emotion and stuff, but they really don't care. I've never gotten marked down for sounding boring and speaking in monotone. However, one thing I found that teachers like is if there is an option of having your paper/note cards while presenting, never look at them/don't bring them with you (As long as you know what your talking about).

I have a feeling my teacher will count off for monotone. (he's weird that way) He even said, "Be creative! Dress up like your author! (Etc etc etc)" Me: "No way. I have an interview right after school that day too, so... no."
And I'll probably need to at least glance at the note cards, in case of sudden stage fright. Man. I'm going to have a nervous breakdown by the end of thursday.... ^^;; |
