Is that too Freudian, or does anyone else see it?

Seriosly, it is a cool word, one we need to use more often.

Do we really need to find a system to profile each other based on how often we post? Just another way to get labelled! Think about it. Soon we'll be hanging out rep and show our post counts on our profiles to show all who is cool and who is not! Think of what it will lead to!

I use wang all the time "I wanged my head/knee/shin/toe", "Don't be such a wang", "I touch my own wang" shit like that... You know, it's all good.

What is it with your obsession with dongs?

Now, see, I think part of the problem with that (the relative difficulty of use of "cunt") is that we don't use it enough. See, while both "fuck" and "cunt" have been around in our language for quite some time, "fuck" has a much more extensive recent history (soldiers in the Second World War, for instance, lent it all sorts of new and exciting uses). I suspect this is basically because ohshits "cunt" refers to--gasp!--a woman's naughty parts, and since women are apparently made of spun sugar and sunshine and other impossibly frail things we can't possibly risk getting into the habit and accidentally giving some poor lady a fit of the vapors some day--even as we throw the f-word around like there's a worldwide fucking surplus. Which is why I think we all ought to use it more. =B

Well, that and "fuck" is a verb. Or has a verb form, at any rate. But I'm still in favor of using "cunt" more often. Can't get creative with a word if you don't use it.
First off, very commendable usage of 'the vapors'.

Anyways, I don't think cunt's dearth of usage is limited by the fact that it revolves around female anatomy. I mean, we've already ground down bitch, whore, slut, and a whole host of other female-centric to their most base parts just fine. And while I initially thought that fuck and other curses that start off as verbs are more easily integrated, things like 'dicking around' and 'bitchy' undercut that point.

I guess language just sort of realizes that there has to be a certain set of words that still have weight behind them. If I had to conceptualize it, words such as fuck are like kitchen knives, in that they have clearly offensive capabilities but mostly you just use them for utility. Cunt is currently like a gun, because the second you throw it out the receiving party is left with little doubt that you meant it as an affront.

See now, that's true of English, but not every language. Spanish, for example, has literal counterparts with way different social implications. It's really bizarre. I'm so used to "cunt" as a word that's so specific and uniquely vulgar that it only carries certain uses... my English-centric brain can't process the way it's understood in Spanish, which is more general, something you might yell if you hit your thumb with a hammer.

"Coņo" was one of my brother's first words, even. True story. Dad was obliged to tone down his language a bit after that.

I think that probably comes along the same lines as "Sonofabitch!" when you stub a toe or injure yourself... Or just yelling any really vulgar profanity... Like Fuck... I yell fuck sometimes when I bang a shin or something. I personally think it has to do more with the sound of the word, rather than the meaning.
FUCK just has a nice hard therapeutic sound to it.
and sonofabitch has that ITCH part at the end that just feels so good to hiss out through your teeth when you really wang yourself good.

On that note though, what's a guy called Wang doing in Vince "Go for the obvious" McMahon's promotion not dressed up in a skin-toned bodysuit with a big vein on the back and his head shaved bald and painted purple?

Gorefiend 05-20-2008 01:48 AM

We don't use cunt so much cause you can't cunt something quite like you can fuck something. And things can't really be cunting anything, like they can be fucking something (as in "fucking annoying" not as in "fucking that guy"). And you certainly can't tell someone to cunt off.

Its also more of a slur for women than a general curse, so...

In Spanish, coņo (cunt) is used more like "shit," or "sonofabitch." In fact, it took me (a native speaker) a long while to figure out that it meant "cunt." I'd say in Spanish in general more swear words are more acceptable among people who accept swear words. Not many general swears I can think of that would qualify as "gun words." There's a few slurs in there, though.

And, Meister, that was an image I did NOT want... Though I suppose a match between Wang and Mr. Ass would be interesting to see.

My personal favourite is "coņos en vinagre" as I have heard my grandmother say since I was little.

In spanish swear words are a common part of every day speach. And are not always used with a negative tone. I mean, think of "de puta madre" for example. Or how often "joder" is used. I prefer "follar".
