"I know what you mean laddie." the priest whispers to him. "I've been forced to transubstaniate grape juice since I'm not allowed wine any more. I'm not even sure if that works."
|
"'Tis a shame, a crying shame... What's the world come to when a man can't even get a decent drink any more?"
|
OOC: Alright, originally you were with the investigation group Dante, so by the power of the GM *POIT* You are back with the investigators.
Investigation Team Henry, Tommy, Dave, and Jospeh looked expectantly into the house as the door swung open. The hallway is strangely sparse. You see a plain table near the door with nothing on it, and a mirror over it, but for the most place the hallway is empty, and littered with dust and random bits of debris. At a glance, you see six doors, three on the right and three on the left, and at the end of the hallway you see a stairway leading down to the basement, and a stairway leading up to other rooms. Research Team The nurse is wary, but with a combination of the doctor's credentials, and a convincing story of being part of the family, the nurse agrees to let you see them. She goes into the back for a bit through the door, and come backs a few minutes later, saying that the Husband is in a rather bad condition now and perhaps shouldn't be visited, but Mrs. Macario is willing to accept visitors. She leads you down the hallway and through a twisting maze of stairs and halls, but eventually you all find yourself in a waiting room. After a few moments, Mrs. Macario enters escorted by a guard, and while she looks at you all, wide eyed and in shock since you obviously aren't her family, she also looks somewhat desperate and interested. She sits down in a comfortable chair set around a table in the small room, where the rest of you are already seated, and sits expectantly waiting to see what you strangers are here for. |
Making sure to stay very quiet, Joseph checks the first door to his left.
|
This room is some sort of storage room. You see piles of boxes stacked to the roof, two antiquated and rusted out old water heaters, and two rusty bikes. The only thing of interest seems to be an old, closed cupboard near the back wall and in the corner.
|
"Why exactly are we here again?" Dave asked from his spot in the middle of the group.
|
Henry, relieved that nothing had happened, answered Dave as he headed into the house. "We were hired to investigate the house. Now, please be careful while you explore this place. Make sure to stay together, and if someone screams it would probably be best if you just ran."
Taking a quick look around, he motioned the others to follow him as he headed immediately down the stairs to the basement. "We might as well start from the bottom and work our way up from there. Guys, tell me if you see something suspicious." |
When you go to the basement door, you notice it has three locks on it. Strangely, they all seem to be locked towards the basement, with the locks on this side of the door. You open the locks with a few clicks and open the door. The rickety, old, bad stairs lead down into the darkness. You flip the switch for the basement, but nothing happens, leaving the basement in darkness.
|
(OOC: Ecurt! IHMN! Dr Dr! Whoever else is there! RUN! RUN NOW! It's the spooky basement with no power... and the basement was locked THREE TIMES! Get out!)
Frankie smiles kindly at the old woman, and, at first, speaks loudly enough for the guard to hear, "Hello, Aunt Gabriella. It really has been so long... we brought a doctor for you." He then lowers his voice enough to be sure that the guard can not hear him. "Hello Mrs. Macario, I am sorry about the false pretenses, but the nurse did not seem to be in any mood to let investigators visit. You see, my friends and I were hired to look into the odd things that were happening at your old home. We were hoping you could tell us what had happened... so that we can be sure it doesn't happen to anyone else." |
"Let's skip the basement. No point in looking around in a large room where we can't see anything." Dave suggested from his spot in the middle of the group.
OOC: Always stay in the middle is my motto when in a possibly dangerous situation involving demons and ghost. |
"I... I don't want to talk about that thing... But, you seem to understand that it is real, you don't think I'm crazy... Perhaps you are just an illusion and maybe I AM crazy... But it still helps to get out things like this..." She says in a loud whisper. As you look closer, you note her haggard appearance, and her sunken face. She was probably beutiful once, but now it seems this gaunt woman has been through Hell.
"There is something in the house, something evil. It is a horrible, horrible thing. We didn't notice at first when we came in, it must have just observed us. But as we stayed there, terrifying events began to happen. I would wake up on nights to see a tall, gaunt figure leaning over me. It's face, it's body..." She shivers and seems on the verge of tears, but continues, "It was horrible. If we made it angry, it would throw things around the house, like dishes. It seemed to hate my husband worse then me, he suffered horrible nightmares night after night, and complained about headaches all day. Life in that house..." Now she does break down into tears and begins sobbing. The guard now comes over and says, "I think you have had enough excitement for one day Mrs. Macario. Perhaps you all should leave since you are upsetting her." The guard escorts her out, and two more gaurds come to escort you all out. You know you have gotten as much information as you could out of the emotionally scarred woman, and agree to leave. You find yourself outside the Sanitarium before you know it. What do you do next? |
ooc: I'm going to disney world.
|
Quote:
|
ooc: Well Father O'hanrahan would keep his sanity and he'd get really wealthy when Walt Disney bought the land.
|
OOC: We need to take it to the discusssion, but he would be pretty old by the time he sold the land... Too old to profit from it one might think.
|
Frankie stood outside thinking for a moment. He would do so out loud if not for Father Ted, whom did not know just how true the woman's story may be. 'I believe Henry was researching that latin tome... verii... something... and so he might know what this thing is. Besides, they need to know about this thing in that house before they go and get themselves killed.'
He then looked up at the others and voiced his opinion in a non-mythos related syntax. "Well, it seems we've learned everything of value here. Let's go and meet with the others at the house. We should tell them what she told us... those headaches and delusions may have been caused by some sort of gas leak in the building." |
"If you need a latin translator I'm fluent in classical latin." Father O'Hanrahan added.
|
7:00 PM, Monday
After working out what to do next, the Research Team decides that getting this info to the Investigation Team is vital, and head out to find them. By the time they get there, it is dark. A few of the Veterans look around worridly now that it is dark, remembering what happened last time they investigated a house after dark, but nothing unusual happens. After they enter, everyone is reunited in the house in the hall to give the good news, since the Investigators were waiting on the front porch for the others to arrive, temperarily halting their search. |
Frankie grinned in relief when he noticed everyone was still ok, and turned immediately toward Joseph and Henry, relating the story that Mrs. Macario gave them. "Ah... It's good to see everyone's still here... we came so that we could tell you what we learned from Mrs. Macario, the renter. She told us something about a dark gaunt figure breaking things when it became angry and would emotionally torture her and her husband," Frankie's eyes met Henry's and Joseph's when he mentioned this, letting them know that it was the part of the story that he deemed most important before continuing, "She also said that the creature hated her husband most and that he had constant headaches and nightmares. We were afraid there might be some sort of gas leak that you should be aware of..."
|
Paul was confused from what Mrs. Macario had said. Her explanation had made it seem like they were being stalked, but somehow supernateral. He to feel less and less comfortable that place as it got darker, it kind of disturbed him. "Do you think we should get going? We do have alot of time to investigate this thing, after all," he said, trying to draw everyone away from the house.
|
[OOC]
Where am I? |
ooc-I'm pretty sure everyone's at the house. Everyone who had been part on either of the teams that is.
Henry nodded, showing he understood what Frankie had meant. "The house seems normal. Except for the basement, no power in it and it's almost as if it's nothing human has been there for quite some time. "More investigation on this place will have to be done, and if it is like you said, and there was a gas leak, then we'll need to do a bit of preparing before we reenter the house." |
Joseph also nodded.
"I suppose we should obtain the necessary materials and return during the day." |
OOC: I sense you are all waiting for me to jump ahead in time again... I suck at picking up when that is necessary...
The Investigators decided that nothing more could be done tonight, and that they would search the house tomarrow. They all return home. 9:00 AM It is now morning of the next day, and you are all back at the Mansion. Cal called to check up, and you gave him a bland report that covers up any potential Mythos connection. He accepts that, and hangs up. Now you must decide if there is anything more to learn about the house, or if you want to get straight to a complete investigation of the house right now. |
First thing that morning, Frankie hunts down Henry, who had been studying the Vermii De... whatever, with Dr. What's-his-name, and gets him alone in a room to talk.
"I understand that you were studying that book at the university... the one that had information on the lurker. I don't suppose that, by any chance, you read up on a humanoid monster that appears at night, and gives nightmares to people?" (OOC: Don't worry about it too much FZ... everything seems to be slowing down lately, anyway. Including my ambition for making big posts.) |
"Should we check the kitchen first for a gas leak?"
|
" Yeah lets check for a gas leak first and foremost. It could be quite the hazard later..." Dr Marcus says with a worried expression on his face...
|
Henry searched his memory for something that matched Frankie's description. After a minute he shook his head. "I cannot recall something immediately. At the time I had been more interested in spells and not the creatures dealing with the mythos.
"Perhaps, though, maybe we should call Dr. Armitage right now? Maybe he'll have a bigger clue than I do, the doctor has studied this more than I have after all." ooc-Bleh, it's school. It's annoying, long, boring, and tiring. We don't have as much enthuisiasm nor time to make the posts. At least, that's my excuse. |
Frankie nodded toward Henry at the suggestion. Dr. Armitage would most likely know what the creature is, or be able to look it up at the least. "Yes, excellent idea. You can ask him about it, as that you know the man better. Let's go to the phone..."
(OOC: I don't even have that excuse... I'm just having one of my 'down times'. It happens.) |
9:02 AM (What? Time passed...)
You call Dr. Armitage on the phone. He listens to your description, and he flips through his notes for a minute. After a while he says, "Well, I don't know of any specific monster that does all that... Actually, it sounds more like the work of some sort of sorcerer from the variety of effects. They are known for their servitude to the gods for magical strength, and perhaps one had bargained away something of his for more power and spells. I am not sure, but from what you describe, he must be in that house, since a sorcerer in the neighboring buisness buildings would be noticed, but it is a small house, and I don't know where he could be. That will be up to you all to learn. If you need any more information, call me." With that the Doctor hangs up. |
Henry looked to Frankie, and with a heavy sigh he repeated what the Doc had told him. "Sadly, that doesn't tell us much, except that it might be a sorcerer.
"This doesn't sound good...how are would we fight a sorcerer anyway? If it has been haunted for years then that sorcerer must be very old, and probably powerful too. At least, more powerful than we are. "I don't know what to do...do you?" |
Frankie shrugged casually. Truth be told, the ex-drifter was more than a little relieved that it was 'just' a sorcerer. "At least it isn't an invisible monster intent on eating our hearts, again."
His arms crossed, and he stopped to think for a moment about things. "Well... if it's been there long enough for all these ghost stories to pop up about it... I don't know if it's human. I guess we'll just have to go there and see what it is..." A look of concentration crosses his face as he thinks back on what Gabriella had told him. "Apparently the thing only came out at night... so I think we can assume that it, like the other creature, doesn't particularily enjoy light. I say we go and investigate during the day... search the house completely and send Tommy in any dark places first... he's big, so he might survive being smacked around a bit. Besides, his caustic personality annoys me." A chuckle escaped Frankie's lips at his last comment and then he headed toward the door to the room, so that he could rejoin the others, "Well, let's go see what everyone else has to say." |
He sighed. "You really don't like that guy, do you?" He wasn't surprised...in fact, part of him wanted to follow that plan. However, the better part of him could not let people fall into danger they do not know off.
"We might as well tell them what's happening before we go," he said, following the other man. "If they decide to follow, they only have themselves to blame. If they decide to go, and tell people about it later on, then we'll simply say that that was a test to see if they were tough enough to be one of investigators, and that they had failed." |
Frankie shook his head as he walked. "You go ahead and tell them... they'll just think you're insane until they see something for themselves... would YOU have believed there was an invisible monster eating hearts before we saw David get killed? ...I know I wouldn't have."
|
"I didn't...part of me still doesn't believe it; that we're all together in one big nightmare that we'll eventually wake up from. I imagine that I'm still in the hotel, and I haven't gotten up yet; then it'll turn out that what was at the house was nothing more than a raccoon or something. Later, some of us will flirt with Clara, get rejected (except for me, of course), and go out to a bar before we go back to our normal homes and normal lives.
"However...that's not going to happen. We're now caught up in a current that's so fast that we can't escape. I have accepted that, but now I want to give these people a chance that we all willingly passed; an oppourtunity to walk away before this engulfs them. "Heh...sounds sort of corny coming from someone like me, doesn't it? I just don't want to be the one to blame when something bad happens. What about you?" |
Frankie stopped and turned around to look at him, with one eyebrow raised and a look of complete incredulousness (I can make up words!) on his face, before breaking into a chuckle. It was odd to laugh when they were talking about something as serious as that, with only a month behind it... but his speech just struck Frankie as hillarious. "Sort of corny? That's, quite possibly, the corniest thing I've ever heard someone say."
He shook his head at the man and stopped for a moment before answering. "Well... I don't think warning them will do any good, and I'm not responsible for them. Like I said... you can do what you want, but I still say we just put that Tommy character on point if there's any dark rooms." (OOC: And thus we see Frankie's irresponsible and somewhat childish nature, which lead him, in part, to being a drifter. "It's not my fault if they get eaten... even if I don't tell them about it. I'm only responsible for me, and that's it.") |
Trailing behind the two of them, Tommy raised an eyebrow as he heard his name being mentioned, but thought little of it.
After all, ghosts, demons, monsters... just things to scare children with. Gabe was dead, and by God he was going to find out who did it. And once he did... Tommy grinned as he smacked a fist into the other. "Oh, yes... you'll regret that..." |
He sighed, shaking his head at the older man's response. "Let's just gather everyone together in the lobby...then will be the time to decide what to do."
ooc-I just realized that Henry is a lot bossier than I had first planned. Of course, that's when noone else announces their intentions to lead. |
Frankie nodded. "Alright then... I'll just head to the lobby now." The man then left Henry standing there and headed down to the lobby, as he promised, to wait for everyone else, effectively leaving the 'gathering' up to Henry. While he waited he picked out one of his books and began to read it, albeit half-heartedly. He was really wondering what the sorceror in that house could be, and whether or not it was in the basement as Henry had suggested.
|
With nothing better to do, Tommy decided to follow Frankie down to the lobby. He shook the suitcase he carried, smiling inwardly as he felt the weight of the Thompson shift inside.
|
9:15 AM
Everyone assembles in the lobby to discuss what to do next. Now, they have an idea of what to do, but not a great one. They can jump right into the investigation, or they can go and try to research more waht is going on. |
"I would like to go back to the assylum and see if I can get any information out of the old tennets, or at the very least see what I can do to help them." Father O'Hanrahan offered.
|
Frankie nodded toward Father Ted from his chair. "Yes, I believe you should go there with Marcus... he may be able to help as well. You might get more information, and you may also be able to help them along." His eyes then gazed about the room, as he thought over his next comment carefully, before deciding to go along with it. "Someone else also may want to look up ex-owners of the house. Go as far back as the ghost stories, and see what you can find out about the man who lived in the house before they started. In the meanwhile, another team of three or four of us should go to the house..." He then looked around the room at every person. "Is there anyone else here who knows how to find information like that, or will I be heading to the library?"
|
Paul was very tired and yawned loudly. "What do you think I should do? Whatever I do, I'm not going to that house. I don't feel comfortable around there."
|
"That's because it's obviously not safe there." Henry had joined in the discussion, though he did so from a faraway corner of the room with his head slightly bowed. "Frankly, you'd have to be stupid not to sense the danger that house practically screams. I even saw animals intentionally steer away from that place, if I remember right.
"And that brings us to an important point..." Guess this is the best time...I guess. Damn Frank, leaving it up to me to decide and carry through. "Before we continue, I am offering everyone here an oppourtunity to leave now. I warn you, if you refuse this, your life will change forever and you will come face to face with a terrible truth; probably today if our hunches are right. "Don't blame us if you get into any danger, there is a reason why this choice came up. We need to know who's with us and who must go; if you cannot accept the danger you'll be in willingly then you're definately in the latter group. "So...umm, what do you guys choose to do?" Wow...I do sound corny. |
" Agree and I think I would be able to get more info." Marcus said.
|
"I know I'm going." said Joseph quietly, "this is my own personal jihad, I'm going to find out whats going on and obliterate it from existance. Even if no-one else is going to the house, I will. Research will only get you so far."
|
12:00 PM House Team
Now that you knew exactly where the house was, it is easeir to find this time. You open the front door, and the same sight greets you, with debris all over. The only difference is whatever you cleaned away to walk along, and the fact that one of oyou looked into the first room on the left and didn't explore it. 10:00 PM Library Team You head back to the Miskatonic University Library since it is the largest one in both Bosten and Arkham. You prepare to plunge into it's depths, but decide to consider your options on what to reveal more of about the house first... |
Tommy cracked his knuckles, then discreetly unlatched his fiddle case. He had a bad feeling about this place, and he sure as hell didn't want to go in unprepared. Neither did he want to go in first. This place was giving him the creeps.
He hung back by the door, lighting a cigarette, looking at the others as though he was daring them to go in. |
"Should we start looking around then?" asked Joseph, moving quietly and as discreetly as possible into the house.
|
"Suit yourself. I'll cover you."
Tommy slung the case behind him, only his hands holding it shut now. He let Joseph take a few steps before starting to follow the man in. He kept his eyes wide open as he looked into the darkened interior, occasionally glancing at the ceiling. It wasn't the first time someone had tried offing him with murder holes, and he didn't expect it to be the last either. |
Paul walked into the house cautiously, not wanting to go in in the first place. He had been forced to go, so he obviously didn't have a choice. He started looking around quickly as he got into the house, deciding to move towards one of the nearby rooms.
|
OOC: *Sigh* Just as an update, there are 3 doors on the left, 3 doors on the right, and at the end of the hall there is a door leading down to the basement, and a stairway leading up to the second story... I will send you back to the first room on the left since you didn't choose one.
You look into the first room on the left. Like Joseph saw, you see it is full of junk. There are boxes stacked along the back wall, there are old rusted out water heaters, and there are the old rusted bikes. The cabinet sits along the back wall in a corner, unopened. |
ooc: Confusion....rising...
ic: Paul decided to open the cabinet, knowing there was the very slim possibility that something could help. Everything else was useless, so he just walked around it. |
OOC: If I accidently am about to do something which may result in death (Again), can you just nudge Dave another way?
IC: Dave goes to the first room on the right and opens the door to look inside. |
You go to the cabinat and pull, but it seems stuck. You give it a few more good tugs, and it wrenches open. Three dusty books fall out at you feet. You pick them up and wipe the dust from one, to reveal the diaries of a mister W. Corbitt. You pick up the other books to discover that all three are the diaries of Corbitt, and they are numbered for the order they were written.
|
Tommy walked in behind the two of them, noting the books the others had found.
"So," he said, pausing to light another cigarette. "What do you have?" |
"Apparently something very helpful," he replied. "I'll see what I can get from them," he said as he sat down in a nearby chair(assuming there is one) and began reading.
|
Dave goes and opens the first door on the right side. This is a very plainly furnished room, with two overstuffed chairs and a sofa all set up to promote conversation. There is a radio set up between the chairs, and a table in the center of the sofas and such. There are shelves along the walls with various nicknacks and collected junk on them.
|
Noting the radio, Tommy moved over to switch it on.
"Too damn quiet here." |
1 Attachment(s)
OOC: There is no nearby chair, so you lean against the wall. You skimming estimates to read, from cover to cover, it will take 2 days to read the book. Also, the book contains one spell.
You skim very quickly through the books, reading random pages. You notice little bits and facts, things Corbitt does in his day. You stop on a page and notice Corbitt buying the house form a wealthy merchant. You continue on, noticing the writing becoming looser and harder to read over time. He describes research on another page. In the second book, he talks about the religion he has joined, although he doesn't say the name here. The text is downright unreadable now, a difficult to read scrawl. By the thirs book, without careuflly reading, you cannot understand waht is written, but it talks about something he did, or summoned, you aren't sure. You close the book, your skimming taking thirty minutes. You find the writing and progressing failing mental state of Mr. Corbitt disturbing to say the least. ((Dante, you just walked across the hall now, since Dave/IHMN was in the right room, and Tommy/You were in the left.)) You turn on the radio. Some static comes out at first, but it seems to work fine. You tinker with it until you get a tune to come out. ((You can choose the station, just keep in mind it is the 1920's...)) |
The books sent a small chill up Paul's spine. He would have read into more detail later, so he carried the books with him as he went into the next room on the left.
|
You open the door to the second room on the left. It seems to be just another storage room. You notice lots of broken and destroyed old wooden furniture. You decide that it is most likely old furniture or furniture that others have thrown out, and it was collected as fire for a fireplace or wooden stove perhaps.
|
"There's probably nothing useful in amongst that rubbish" said Joseph turning away. "Lets try the other doors"
|
Frankie had gone with a few others to the library, on the basis that he didn't want to be the first person to see whatever was in the house, and that he knows how to use the library decently well.
After a few moments of looking around he found a librarian and asked politely if he could receive help finding information on the owners of the house in question, and any 'ghost' stories surrounding it. |
1:00 PM
After searching through the library, with help and suggestions from the librarian, you gather a collection of books that might help. You begin to go through with them, and two hours later, you have found some informarion of note. The house was originally built by a wealthy merchant in 1835, but he fell ill and sold the house and left the state. He sold the house to a Mr. Walter Corbitt, esquire. You learn more, in that in in 1852, Mr. Corbitt is sued by his neighbors to force him from the house and the area, "In consequence of his surious [sic] habits and inauspicious demeanor." However, you seem to be having some trouble finding the actual resolution to this case, and what may have happened after that. The librarian suggests beginning a new search for this new information. |
(OOC: Super short post.)
Frankie nodded toward the librarian and grinned. "That sounds like a most logical plan. Would you care to to lend me some more help?" |
2:00 PM
With some more searching, you are able to find what you are looking for. Corbitt wins the case and is allowed to stay in the house. You find another notation later on, of the death of Mr. Corbitt in 1866, and in his obituary it says how he lived in the house up until his death. With more searching, you find a second case was brought against Mr. Corbitt's estate to prevent the execution of his last will and testament, which allowed for upon his death, he would be buried in the basement of his home. You can't find who was to execute this last will, or if the case was ever resolved. The librarian now says, "Well, Dr. Armitage has told me to help any of you I see in every way I can, but you won't find anymore information like this in the library. You will need to go to the Hall of Records in Boston to find anymore information on this case." |
Frankie smiled and stood, nodding at the librarian. "Thank you. You have been a tremendous help already... I do believe I will head for the hall of records now." With that he waved to the librarian and left the library to flag down a cab.
|
Father Ted stood next to Frankie. "I doubt the basement was sanctified, which might lend to the ghost theory. I still think it's probably a gas leek." Father Ted says to frankie as they flag down a cab.
|
5:00 PM
At the Hall of Records, you ask to look up court cases and resolutions. After you convince the clerk to let you in, he leads you back to the records room and leaves. You search for a while, finding out as much as you can on the case. You find that there was no recorded end to the case at all oddly. You also learn that Mr. Corbitt's final will was executed by a Reverend Michael Thomas, pastour of the Chapel of Contemplation, Church of our Lord Granter of Secrets. You decide to follow up this lead, and look deeper. You find the location of the church, that it was closed down in 1912, and that there were criminal actions involved with the church. You can't find the specific actions however. |
"Sounds like we should go back to the library and look for a newspaper article on that church." Father Ted said after writing the important info down on a memo pad."
|
Frankie nodded and stood, replacing the files in their proper places. "I suppose we might find something a bit more specific in the newspapers."
|
"I also think we should check ou tthe church. It sounds very unusual for a church, what do you think padre?" Doc said looking at Father Ted
|
Frankie looked over at Marcus and thought for a moment before throwing in his two cents. "That seems like a good idea as well, although it's been closed for quite some time now, so I don't know what we will find. However, I believe we should go to the library first. The church will still be there later, while the library may close."
|
OOC: Just noticed you went back to your old avatar, krylo. And since it's 2:1, back to the library you go...
6:00 PM You head back to the library, and begin your new search. After putting some time into it, you find no records, or even mentions of this church anywhere. It's as if it never existed as far as the media was concerned. The librarian comes by and asks what you are looking for now. After explaining she says, "I never heard anything about that when it happened, but if it was true, they would have to have some sort of documents of it down at the Central Police Station. They document any criminal investigations there. |
OOC: Puh, he said in the dicussion he edited that out... And I know just noticed the edit in that post.
IC: Dave went to the middle right room and opened the door. |
12:30 PM (I think that's where you all were at) House Team
You enter the dining room to find yet another sparsley set room. There is a long mahogany table in the center with 7 chairs of the same wood set around it. On the table, you see a tureen, and three unused table settings. You look in the tureen to see some ancient soup rotting. There is nothing more of importance in this room. |
Frankie nods and thanks the librarian before turning to his two compatriarts. "Well... this was a dead end. Why don't you two go and look at the church, I'll meet you there later... I think I'll have an easier time convincing the police to let me see their files if I go alone."
|

9:00 PM Frankie makes his way to Central Police Station. Once inside, he fast talks the clerk into thinking he is there to do a college study on the police. After the clerk lets him into the records room and leaves, Frankie gets to work. He pulls out docuemtns from the right year and begins to review them. After about an hour of searching, he comes across the proper files. There was a secret police raid on the Church, after multiple families in the neighberhood claimed that they were responsible for multiple missing children. The police struck the church at night, but the Churh members were well armed. In the ensuing battle, the church caught fire, and overall three officers were killed and seventeen cult members were eitehr burned in the house or killed in the gun battle. Oddly on recovered bodies, there seems to be little or no data on the subjects, almost as if there were no autopsies. 54 Memebers of the church were arrested, but only 8 were held and charged. Of them was the Pastor Michael Thomas. He was sentenced to 40 years in prison on five counts of murder, but he was able to escape prison in 1917 and fled the state. You learn that due to mostly illegal intervention from high, and unnamed, local officials, the story never made it to the papers and remained largely unknown to the public. |
