I am bored, so RP attempt (Not sign up (yet), but suggestion/idea)

I am bored, and have seen this idea get shot down twice, so I shall bring it back once again.

The idea is the map idea I was going to use, then SS was going to use. Basically, I would draw up a map detailing the area that you are in, then you have to do something and stick to the map. Either it would be something like an RTS, or more of a stealth ops thing (Or both).

Not sure if I should stick with good 'ol fantasy though, or try a modern or a sci-fi with this.

Ironic, I've been thinking about something like this in a sci-fi format. If you go Sci-Fi, I would recommend looking into the Warhammer 40K universe. That's waht I was planning, and it allows everything from bugs to killer robots to psychic aliens to good ole' marine types.

A modern, gritty, city RP would be cool. Kind of a Noir RP.

I'm just a noob at this, so take what I say with a grain of virtual salt.

IHateMakingNames 03-31-2004 06:05 PM

If I went Sci-Fi, I would avoid WH 40k at all cost. SS's RP seems unappealing to me, seeing as it sounds like a bunch of big emtionaly challenged grunts with super weapons (He mentioned a super nova in there somewhere) to blow up everything.

And I don't want to draw an entire city...

Forever Zero 03-31-2004 06:07 PM

If you look into it, the WH40K universe is cooler then that, SS just seems to be a big Space Marine fan. But to each his own.

In that case then, I'll go with whatever everyone else decides on, although I would lean towards a RTS RP over a spy/sneaking type RP.

IHateMakingNames 03-31-2004 06:31 PM

Yeah, the one I was going to do was RTS style, but I added in to many races it seems.

There could easily be a Sci-Fi RTS (StarCraft), or a fantasy one (WarCraft), but I don't think I can really do a modern RTS (That would just be something like a real war, which isn't appealing to me)

Edit - Oh, and I do not know what Noir RP is.

(Repost)

Should I bother with a Sign-Up thread, or just let this die like the last two?

Forever Zero 03-31-2004 06:33 PM

A Noir is usually the old detective type stories. If you read Calvin and Hobbes, Tracer Bullet is a Noir spoof in a way.

As for dying, if there is no interest I guess you'll have to...

Do you control one character, or an army?

Forever Zero 03-31-2004 07:05 PM

Unless he changed the idea, it's just one character. Controlling an army would be pretty cool, but hard to RP effectivly as to who is winning/losing, numbers of units, powers, etc.

StormRider 03-31-2004 07:10 PM

That's what I thought, but RTS's usually involve armies, and therefore mass amounts of micromanagement. One of the reasons I never really got into WC and SC (online, at least, I played the single-player campaigns all the time). The other being that the fan base is so out of touch with reality that they'll pay $150 on EBay for each others accounts, just so that they can point at their win/loss statistics and spew verbal sewage over their 'l337'ness. God, I hate those people.

But, I digress. Basically, I just don't have the patience for those types of games.
