Well, that's a relief. I've been hearing about Castle of Cagliostro for a while now and I was a bit scared due to the size of the programme. I'll check it out as soon as I can.

Something I noticed in the last thread was a lack of love for Gunbuster. What the hell is wrong with you people?

That's, like, physically impossible. O-o

Since I'm dropping Soul Eater (cause Soul Eater sucks) I'll probably pick up on Eureka Seven. I need my mecha fill anyway.

Also people, Daughter of the Twenty Faces 10 = Incredible animation (which I had thought was impossible in this show) = GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO!!

oh my holy Mazoka!

Nobody told me about new Slayers!

Is this truth, or are you just playing with my emotions?

Kaneda 06-11-2008 03:13 PM

Its completely possible to hate Eureka 7. 40 episodes of nothing happening but terrible romance and the occasional Evangelion rip off, then about 10 decent episodes.

detailed information about new Slayers > silly Eureka 7 critique

I've been waiting a decade for a new Slayer's series.

I pretty much stopped watching anime after I moved to Japan 5 years ago, but man... New Slayers!

The warm fuzzies are taking over my being.

After further reading I find that it's onlu just now being released on air in Japan, bummer. I'm going to go kidnap my Japanese major ex-girlfriend and force her to translate.

Yea, thats why I hate it. If you only watch the first 11 episodes, then the last 10, much better. Also, is Slayers really that good?

Funka Genocide 06-11-2008 03:49 PM

Slayers is probably the only form of media that, for me, transcends any measure of goodness.

I have no idea why I love it, but I'll be damned if I don't cry like a little, little girl at the end of every season.

In terms of plot development, it's average. Characterization is somewhat two dimensional except for tiny slivers of drama, and the humor is dated at best.

I can't explain to you why it is the greatest thing in the universe. There is no logic, only cheesy dialogue and heart warming fantasy adventurism.

(In other words, I lost my anime virginity to Slayer's and am lost in perpetual nostalgia)

Well, there's now an anime request list on our Morale drive...And some series I recongize, but haven't heard much about is : Noir, Chobits, Bubblegum Crisis (Both series), Gun X Sword, and Tokyo Godfathers.

Any info on these, and if they're worth the download?

FUCK YES SLAYERS. You don't even know man. You don't even fucking know.

It's actually not too surprising you haven't heard about it until now; it could probably be considered old-school now. Although Slayers isn't really that old (has it really been thirteen years?); it's just that I started young.

I can talk about Chobits, and let me say... it's fun. I mean, it's pure distilled CLAMP somewhat oriented to the virgin loser otaku fan, but if you can get past that (and the horrible filler, for which I once again recommend the manga instead of the anime) you have a touching melodramatic story about what's love. You might like it if you are into either the fanservice or soap opera.

Flarecobra 06-11-2008 04:24 PM

Well, since I cannot buy any at the moment...
