Ninja Gaiden: Holy Sh**!
I know a few people have made threads about it already, but I just got the game today and reached the first boss...after an hour of trying to get through a 20 minute long first level. Took me forever to kick everyone's ass, then I reached the boss. He completely pummeled me to a pulp with his nunchaku. I had zero chance, but I think I'm getting it now. I actually got him down to half health. :D
It was amazing all the moves I was performing out of nowhere. In one, two ninja were walking towards me in a straight line. First time playing=button mashing :) . All of a sudden I just dashed past them both in a blur of blue, I froze, and noticed they were missing their heads. I was reeling on my couch. Another time I got a 25-hit continuous combo without even knowing how. I slashed a guy about 6 or 7 times, launched him into the air, pinned him against the wall with 8 shurikens, then let fly with a flurry of kicks. Another time, just as a guy was keeling over dying, I let loose with a dozen shurikens in his chest and he simply exploded. One last thing, three guys were surrounding me. I simply jumped in the air and slashed downward, taking off all of their heads at once. It really is a kickass game. All the reviews about the fantastic graphics are true. But, the camera has a habit of getting in the way, constantly. |
Here is a hint. For a large amount of the game, you can kill everything by wall climbing, then jumping off and hitting X or Y, then repeat that (If you're having problems killing things)
And just wait till later in the game when you have more weapons... Also, after you get the War Hammer, if you like it then buy the Wooden Sword and upgrade it all the way. If not, don't bother. |
I've tried that wall jumping technique a lot, but I always end up getting stuck in a mob stabbing, unable to move.
Maybe I should get some formal training from this guy. |
I found that blocking is invaluable to staying alive against normal enemies, and constant movement helped against the boss.

You are a failure as a member of the Hayabusa clan.
Ha, just jokin'. Personally, I was upset when Ayane ran in and didn't break some shit in the name of the Mugen Tenshin Hajin-Mon. You know, since they made Hayabusa a regular character of the DOA games, and brought her over from them into Gaiden... |
Woh! Ayane was the mystery chick?! Holy crap i need to get this game 10 times worse now!

this sounds kind of like a video game adaptation of "real ultimate power". i'm defenatly gonna have to check it out now.

And if you're having trouble with the first boss, wait until the next chapter. You will learn that horses are NOT your friends. |
And if you think the chapter 2 boss is bad, wait until chapter 7(yes, I'm that far). That boss is Hell. Now I'm at the start of chapter 8, which is just another level of Hell.
Just a side note when you get farther: you'll be blocking like a maniac at that point, but it won't help all the time once people start attacking you without mercy. You'll wish you were dead, but still be playing all the same. |
