Team Fortress 2 or Battlefield 2142?
 

So my post dated check cashes in Tuesday, and I'll be buying ONE of these two games (in addition to a few other games, *coughSporeCCcough*). I have played both and enjoyed both immensely, which is making it extremely difficult for me to decide which one I'd rather buy and play in the long run. TF2 is ramen fun, but BF 2142 was a really nice game overall. So now I'm stuck.

Bring thy opinions to this thread and let it twist my judgement until I pick one, or decide that they both suck and buy Viva Pinata.

If someone can actually convince me to do this and their name isn't Fifthfiend or anything that starts with the title "lord", I will be damn impressed.

In other news, that was fricking FAST.

Edit: Ok, now that being said, I'm also looking at it from a "this is a fun game to play" perspective as well as mechanical/control/graphic/<insertotherhardware-specificfunctionhere> reasons. So if you've only played the 360 version(s, ?), please feel free to still comment.

TF2.

They've updated a frigging TON of stuff. And I know that no one else likes medics quite like I do but I like all the achievements they have done to make being a medic that much more fun.

Oh wait, that's 360...

I can't comment on BF since I've never played that one.

TF2 all the way. The orange box has so much more to offer than 2142.

If you buy BF 2142 you may be buying a better game that'll last awhile until the next installment of battlefield comes out and everyone migrates.

If you buy TF2 you will be playing an FPS that will continually update their several classes in several ways, and will continue to have an astoundingly large playerbase for years to come.

I suggest TF2.

Thanks guys; I was leaning to TF2 anyway. I won't be buying Orange Box, because I managed to acquire the various parts of it on it's own; HL2 stuff is for my 360, and I bought Portal when it released seperately at the beginning of April.

I would still like to hear more opinions before tomorrow, but right now the general verdict seems to be TF2.

Oh man, perfect timing. I've actually been considering buying TF2 and was thinking of asking the forum's opinion of the game. You beat me to it! Sounds like the general consensus is that it's a worthwhile game, hm?

Do you have to pay to get new updates, like new stages or class improvements, or do you get the new stuff automatically when Steam updates your account? The only game I have on Steam is Portal, so I have no idea how Steam actually works for games other than that.

As far as I know, that stuff is free. I only got TF2 recently but I have all the latest updates and stuff.

My questions:

Will all the classes get unlockable content or is it gonna be medic only? How long has the medic's stuff been implemented?

so far i think that tf2 just gets more and more kick ass every time i play it although i wouldn't want to be a spy anytime after Thursday...just a warning
