Dear DC Comics,
What the fuck?
<3, Me ...Seriously I don't know how much the rest of you follow these things but man, shit be crazy over there. |
Batman dead yet?
Because I heard some shit about there being a new Batman and it's apparently not Terry McGinnis so, hey, fuck DC Comics. |
Naw, they've just got this thing going on where they fire their one competent writer and then he goes on the internet and talks all shit about what a bunch of screwups they are, and then their other writer takes their big-ass 52-issue megaseries that just finished and says "Nope! Never happened," and that ongoing thing they're doing where all of their comics are crap-awful and nobody wants to read them. I thought I'd bring it up, see if anyone else was following along.
Batman might still be dying? But he might not! They're doing an event called Batman R.I.P. where Batman might die but maybe he doesn't die and anyway fuck Terry McGuinness for being a second-rate jerk with a suit full of superpowers in a cartoon that had the gall to play Tim Drake for a patsy. |
Hey, at least they finally managed to make something actually interesting happen to Tim. But what can you expect from a guy with a two-time hand-me-down sidekick identity?
|
Bein' awesome and great, which Tim Drake is and has been since ever, except when cartoon writers make him take a dive to make Terry "Lackwit Incompetent" McGinnis look like he doesn't suck.

I don't know about you but that to me seems way more off-setting than the Dark Knight dying. |

And speaking of taking a dive, how about some of that Barbara Gordon? She could have been a kickass Batgirl that went on to be a big-shot Police Commissioner in her old age like in Terry's future, but noooooooo. |
Pffft. List of Batman sidekicks who got the job for something other than going "Waaaah, tragedy!" and then Batman's like "Eh all right, have a costume":
- Not Dick Grayson - Not Jason Todd - Not Terry McGinnis - Re: Barbara Gordon, what, like being Nick Fury for the DCU is a slacker gig? |

Yeah score one to Drake for being a natural detective before joining Batman.
See this is why I never really liked DC comics when they do their whole super-mega crossover thing, I really do prefer just picking up the one-shots where there's no huge overarching storyline that involves tearing down the Earths/reality/superheroes/etc. It kind of gets annoying that DC's big events don't matter the same time next year. Marvel's equally dumb but I think Civil War is a step in the right direction. Superman/Batman is surprisingly good right now, and (Despite what everyone here says) I happen to like All-Star Batman since it's totally different from mainstream Batman. And now I'm going to wait for the incredible backlash of fury for that last comment... |
