FireFox 3: Awesomebar is awesome.

How is everyone else feeling the new update? I'm quite liking all the nifty touches, especially the dragging of images into any other application, which, as far as I know, wasn't in 2.0. Plus, it is quick. I'm really loving it.

Also, type about:robots in the URL bar.

I love it.

I actually really like the fact that you can type the name of a site that's stored in your history in, without the URL, and it'll pull the site. That's nice because I have the habit of forgetting url's for sites I don't visit on a tri-hourly basis.

Edit: I also really like the look of it overall, tabs especially. And robots.

i think i'll wait some more time before updating to see if more of my plugins will be compatible, but i only heard great things of it

Yes. Oh please tell me this will fix my broken FireFox.

I hate opera so much.

I'm digging it. I like the simplified navigation toolbar, and the Recently Closed Tabs thing is really gonna come in handy for me.

Plus, it runs so much more smoothly. Recently Firefox has been slowing my computer down like crazy. 300% improvement in that department.

Eltargrim 06-18-2008 10:24 PM

To be honest, I had tweaked Firefox so much that this was almost a step backwards. The tabs toolbar has some nice features, and I've recently added a few extensions that are compatible with FF3, but I miss my theme and the security added through a few of my other extensions.

Still, despite the time needed to adjust, this is a step in the right direction, methinks.

Does adblock plus work with it? If adblock doesn't work with 3, I'll wait to upgrade until it does.

I've been using the beta for a while and I can say definitely and without reservation: it loads web pages and allows you to look at them.

I still had to go into their customize-toolbars shit to make the New Tab button visible by default, so I mean come on Firefox, what the fuck?

Credit where due, it is a lot faster.

synkr0nized 06-19-2008 01:08 AM

I don't use many addons myself.

Wait, the recently-closed tabs wasn't a feature in 2?
I've been using the beta for too long. In any case, it's probably one of the best features. I tend to accidentally close tabs when I have a lot of them (like ten or more) open/am drunk/am tired.

Being able to have it auto-search through your history and bookmarks as you type into the bar is a pretty neat feature, I guess I have to admit. And it does render pages slightly faster.

Adblock is going to have to get on the ball. That's been the reason a lot of people haven't upgraded, from what I've read.

The only addon I really use is Firesomething.

Harpell 06-19-2008 02:49 AM

I'm gonna have to upgrade if its as fast as the people say...I'll be glad if it's any faster at all, really. Things get pretty slow with my crap PC, especially when I have like 10 tabs, which is often. I have like 7 at the moment...
