Team Fortress Pyro Update thoughts?

So TF2 is supposed to get a Pyro update shortly...I don't know how many other people here actually play TF2 on a regular basis, but I'm pretty damn sure that anyone (even regular pyro users) are going to be called achievement whores for the next 2 weeks while everyone busts to get the new unlockables.

That being said, there's a lot of speculation as to what class will get the update next; I'm calling either Spy or Engineer on this one, because Valve seems to pick the less played classes.

Also, for anyone who was thinking about getting the game (I think there were a couple of people who were holding out), in honor of the Pyro update, Valve is holding a TF2 Free Weekend event. You can pre-load it to your Steam and try it for the weekend.

To be honest, I'm rather pissed about it. As a primary Spy user, I'm completely and utterly fucked as far as sneaking around goes for the next few weeks.

Just go engineer and place your stuff in mildly open areas for awhile.

You do know that Engineers have the highest amount of playtime of any class, right?

i think demoman or heavy

they need some love also has anyone got the update yet im just dieing for it because pyro is my favorite class (all though because they are week i didn't play them very much and manly focused on the medic because I'm a achievement whore)

Demoman is probably the most powerful class, and very played, so I doubt they'll get updated. Heavies are pretty perfectly balanced. I expect the gimped classes like spies and maybe scouts(Not gimped in the way the class works but they get the short end of the stick alot when the situation is in their advantage).

Spies mostly because they nerfed backstab detection and the new Pyro buffs will make spy players worthless for a couple weeks and severely hurt until another update.

Your link failed on me, but to elaborate a little more, the general consensus was that after this Pyro update, Spy is going to see a dip in play and Pyro will pick up. So then Valve will come up with a Spy update, which will peak Spies and leave Engineers hanging. Thus we hit the engineer update, which in all likelyhood could come first.

Sadly, I can't see your link, and while I don't doubt the statistics, I see far less engineers than, say, Soldiers or Demomen.

I never felt pyros were in dire need of an update. They got that mild speed boost awhile ago and seem to play fine now. I was suprised to find out that pyro's shotgun taunt can do damage. Wonder if it does massive damage, or barely anything like Luigi in melee

OMGWTFBBQ: Kill an enemy by taunting
BarbeQueQ: Have a dominated player leave the server
Got a Light?: Light an enemy spy on fire while he is flicking a cigarette

It's like Pyro is supposed to be amazing for these achievements, but I never really see that happen, so maybe the weapons associated with them will help the case.

the taunt does 5 damage
the got a light achievement is done when a spy taunts with his disguise thing out
and the update has been moved to tomorrow

Link fixed.

Pyros have always been 100% walk speed.

Engineers are almost always inside, but are most definitely on the map the most.
