Psycho

This is a game inspired by the Alice roleplaying idea, the game Psychonauts, and a game I ran for my friends a year back. The premise is that you are sent in to the mind of an insane person, in an experiment to see if he can be cured. You will travel his mind and encounter people he has known, as he sees them, and see the events in his life. Rather than races, or just saying your all human, your form can be anything. Any form you can describe, you can have, though you are stuck with it when you choose it. You can also give yourself unique abilities, of your choice, within reason. So...

Sure, I'll give it a shot:

Name: Jack Boston

Description: Due to a rather strong sense of personal identity, Jack could pass for human, from a distance. His body is basicaly humanoid, wearing vaugely comfortable clothes and trainers. However, there are a few major differences. Since Jack doesn't look in the mirror very often his self image is directly tied to what he sees of his body on a regular basis, eg. his hands, his arms, the front of his body etc. The rest is missing, his body just fading into dark mist around the edges. His head is basicaly just a featureless face with only a pair of eyes to mark it, topped by vaugely defined brustly hair.

Abilities: Mist form: Jack can temporarily allow his whole body to morph into a dark coloured mist, allowing him a fairly cheap teleport, as well as allowing his to fit through some fairly tight spaces. It's hard for him to maintain this state for long however, so duration is limited.

Personality: Calm and composed even in the most catastrophic of conditions, Jack rarely displays any form of emotion beyond a slight grin or an annoyed sigh. He's logical and organised, usually planning out his next move 5 steps in advance. He's unafraid to speak his mind in as blunt a manner as possible, and, while patient, has little time to waste on what he feels are obvious solutions. While he can be quick to get annoyed (good luck being able to tell though), he rarely loses his temper. Things rapidly get... unpleasant when he does.

Sorry if it's not very good, I'm kinda tired right now.

Sounds great, and I love that you gave a reason for your character's appearance! You also didn't overpower him. I think it's a good one.

Interest shown, and a character when I get the time to make it.

Name: Vander Emeritus

Description: Vander's intramind form is a manifestation of his outer personality. His skin is laced with veins of black crystal, symbolic of the issues that affect every facet of his being. He is dressed in golden armor that fills in or goes away depending on whether or not he has his emotional guard up. Other than that, he looks like your normal 16-year-old genius.

Abilities:

Telepathy: Vander can communicate telepathically.
Telekinesis/Gravikinesis: Vander can lift anything up to 100 pounds easily (anything heavier takes huge amounts of effort and concentration, afterwards he is exhausted and cannot use any powers) with his mind. He can also locally manipulate gravity to slow falls, execute aerial maneuvers, etc.

Personality: Vander has issues. An abusive father and emotionally volatile home life caused him to withdraw from all extreme emotions, but at the same time made him learn excellent communication skills and develop a huge store of patience. He tends to wear his heart on his sleeves, and though he is skilled in helping others through their problems, large displays of anger tend to shut him down. His powers, while useful, are unstable, and when he gets worked up emotionally, he often loses control of them, to sometimes disastrous results.

Name: Alice Evastai

Description: She's a small little girl, perhaps too small for the kind of missions she's put on. At about she can't be older than 15, and the way she acts doesn't help that perception. She is about the same size as her age would suggest, maybe even a tad taller. Golden blonde hair, which it seems she's never bothered to get a hair-cut, and her eyes.... have a strange defect. The iris is almost pure white as well, barely visible at all. So in a very light setting, it can appear that her eyes are nothing but pools of clear. When in the dark, her shadow seems to still be there, only its a deep red instead of black. This 'redness' seems to exude off of her even in lighter conditions, but its only really noticeable in almost pitch black.

Abilities: Malice. Its how she refers to her abilities, unless she actually has to go into detail. Basically, she manipulates some force on reality, being able to form it into attacks, energy to 'glide' on, and so on.
Its strength varies greatly on her mood and where she is. When she's depressed, bored, or otherwise in a negative moodset, her abilities are practically gone, and she more or less can't access them. Apathetic moods lend themselves to her abilities being somewhat accessible, but this is when she can control them the best. When she's upset or angry, they are at their peak, but she loses control of them quite a bit, sometimes more inefficient and less useful than keeping a clear head. Finally, blissful moods seem to be the best of both worlds, giving her more access to her powers and control of them.
Perhaps this is why she tries to be happy al the time, to keep herself at her best. Though, she hasn't learned to make herself happy all the time, so, there are still problems with her maintaining herself. And also, there is the minor fact that her ability itself sows insanity in its wake, especially in her own mind. She can either produce insanity, completely counter-intuitive to the group, or she can suck it away.... into herself, making her just a little more insane. Though, the more screwed up she is, the stronger she gets, so she actually wants it.

Personality: Her personality, seems to be giddy, joyful, and just wanting to have a good time. The difficulty lies in her perception of a 'good' time, in that it normally involves insanity, suffering, and such. Alice really only wants to be happy, and learn to use her powers to their fullest, and screw anybody who tries to spoil her fun. This may cause problems, because she normally does what suits herself best, and disregards the teams motives unless there is sufficient reason to.
Of course, this is part of the very reason she's on these missions in the first place. Alice is an expert on insanity, walking the line between the two on a daily basis, she understands them from a perspective not many others can. As such, she is best suited to understanding them and figuring out how to deal with these things. Just don't let her get too carried away in this enjoyment, or she might wind up doing more harm than good.

Well, I'll probably post something to start this off later tonight, and if anyone still wants to join, either post before then, or come up with a reason your character would show up later.

Relm Zephyrous 06-30-2008 01:31 AM

Don't worry, I understand. He acts as a nice foil for her, its funny and cute in a way. I'm encouraging it.

FF fanboy 06-30-2008 01:43 AM

I'm glad you understand I'm kinda Lawful good in real life any way so I would not really feel good with a little girl dying IC.
