In all seriousness, remember Original Kefka fails in comparison to Woolsey Kefka. That line is probably given according to Original Kefka's mannerisms. I imagine the localisation, if good, will try to get it the way it should be in the first place (homicidal and hilarious).

It's weird that this never occurred to me before but when you think about it Kefka is basically the Joker amped up to Final Fantasy Villain power levels.

Kefka is Joker but on magic Crack.

That's why we love him, Fifth.

You never noticed that Kefka is FF Joker?

I mean, think about it, you know how the Joker never actually wants to kill Batman? Now look at Kefka sitting in his tower with a fucking death ray, watching them, and never once taking a potshot. Why? Because what would he do without them? His whole purpose at that point was to watch them come together, get their hopes up, try to rebuild what he destroyed, and then laugh at the looks on their faces when he destroyed it again.

And if they finally got their act together and took him down? Oh well, at least he had a blast in the meantime.

Yeah somehow that just never occurred to me before. I mean I played FF6 well before I was a Joker fan so I guess that'd be why I never noticed the parallel.

Come to looking at it the whole World of Ruin thing lines up really well with that Emperor Joker plotline they did where Joker steals the powers of Mxyzptlk.

And to make a further connection to the joker, he didn't actually care that much if he died either. He put Harvey Dent's gun to his head after convincing him to be completely chaotic. He had a 50/50 chance of dying right there, and he didn't seem to care much.

For the record, Terrra was original;ly supposed to be really really light blonde, almost white.

That was just Amano's work for her.

Addendum: Damn near anyone Amano draws is really really light blonde, almost white.

I really, REALLY hope Bartz ends up being brown-haired, unlike in that CG opening for Anthology.
