Fractured Time
Time is not a straight line. It is not set in stone, and it is not unbreakable. Although the first to realize this were from the distant future, it was those in the past who felt the effects. For a single night in the early 15th century the skies opened, time and space ceased to be, the world as it should have been ended. When it was over people from all over the world found things from the future scattered across the land. The time varied from early fire-arms to advance computers, as did the scale from a single item to, in rare cases, entire cities.
This sudden influx of technology destabalized the world. Empires fell and new ones took its place. War was forever changed with the sheer variety of weapons one might face. While the poor souls transported with the technology. Worse yet are the occasional chrono-storms that continue to transport people and technology back in time. It has been nearly 100 years since then, and the world is a very different place. ---------------------- What to expect: The more advanced the technology, the rarer it is. Only simpler machines were reverse engineered, and many require fuel sources that simply do not exist. Gasoline is rare outside the middle east and reserved for royalty however there are quite a few empires that know have basic electrical systems. The most advanced technology, technology beyond what we have, is what empires are based around. A personal shield generator and some propaganda can easily gain you a following. The technology will also vary. One country might have telephone network, another running water, poorer areas however will probably be what they should be for the time period, unless they have a generous leader. For technology thats more wide spread, think steampunk. As victorian technology is about as advanced as you could get before reverse engineering becomes a major problem. Major Empires: English: The most advanced naval fleet in the known world. North-european seas are known as a death trap to warships. Most of their fleet are metalic ships of varying eras, most retro-fitted to be steam powered. Florentian (italian) Empire: Out of all the nations they took the most from the technology they gained. Clockwork and steam powered machines are common place and much of the southern Europe and northern Africa is under their power. European Alliance: Spanish, French, and German nations share control of the rest of Europe. However this was after decades of fighting each other, this is the most unstable area within Europe and avoided by your average person. Chinese Empire: Already accustomed to gunpowder firearms and cannons were quickly added to their military, and most of Asia is under their control Persian Empire: Once they discovered the drilling and processing of oil, and of course the sudden need for it, Persian Empire quickly became one of the wealthiest countries. Unified and prosperious they secured their new kingdom. Now they are rather content with what they have and have developed a powerful defensive army. Persian Empire is the only nation where cars are common. American Empires: Aztecs are the rulers of central America and have access to some of the most advanced technology. Thanks to it they have defended their homes against European invaders. However even they fear the north American Empire. All that is known is that no explore that has gone there and returned. Besides for north America, northern Asia is also to be avoided. There were experiments with nuclear technology, since then the area is a fallout zone. --------------------------- Characters Name: Age: Previous Proffesion: (what you were before you were transported) Current Proffesion: Time period: (from what time are you from*) Appearance: Bio: (include how long you have lived in this time) Technology: (You may have up to four victorian era technologies, two industial, and one modern. Keep things like maintance and power source in mind.) You will be starting in a Florence boarder city, only about 100 miles from Alliance territory. If you choose to just explore life in these odd circumstances you may, you may also explore the world, or if you like look for some rare and advance technology to rule humanity. I would like though that you tell me when you make your character *more advance isn't always better. It means you are familar with technology from that time. For example, knowing how an AK-47 works wont help you with a musket, heck the trigger doesn't even work the same. I am aware you aren't sure what to expect, but thats the point. You will see everything from clockwork robots to plasma cannons to people still fighting with swords and armor. |
Hmm Aerozord would be okay to make someone from the Future? If so awsome if not oh well.

I'm in. So in.
I'm gonna get to work on my character, but the few things I'm sure of is that A, she's going to be from around the time the people who actually did it are, B, she's gonna have/try to get some tech and try to take control of the world ((Bringing it up as far as she can and attempting to spread whatever knowledge she can)) *Also, as a note, I'm sure that far, they've 'cured' aging for the most part, or at least found out how to, right?* |
I'd discourage playing people from the future as you have no idea what technology it has. Also because the further ahead you are from the harder it will be to adjust, most technology will be so primative you have no idea how it works.
As for aging, pretty much the whole extended life aspect of humanity is simply standerd of living. Even if you never aged a day in this time period its unlikely that will matter. So sure go for it, though dont try pulling off some "I'm 537" thing. This thing didn't happen that far into the future. |
Hmmm...I'm interested. My question is this:
I'm thinking a Russian or Chinese scientist type who has gotten FUBAR'd by nuclear experimentation gone wrong and is just a disgusting mutant freak trying to use time travel to correct the actions that brought about her current hideous form. I'm not talking about X-Men type mutant with laser eyebeams or storm powers. More like just physically messed up, with all the advantages and disadvantages that would come with such a random transformation. 'Ey, if we're going for robots and sharks with laser beams attached to their heads and platemail clad knights, why not a representative of the freak factory? |
my only issue with that idea is that, although sudden technology infusion has seriously messed up cultural development, this is more reality based. Radiation posioning has limited physical effects besides for welts, hair/teeth lose, and tumors which would probably be relatively small. So you could be ugly, sickly, but you wouldn't like, grow a third vestigial arm.

Aww, no bladed fin for a forearm. That makes sense. I was thinking about that guy in the first Robocop who got webbed hands 'n' stuff. Oh, but his mutations were induced by full body contact with toxic waste.
Think to come of it, submersion in toxic waste is producing all the kickass mutants, not the nuclear radiation exposure. My bad. I guess I'll go German. Find the time travel technology which is probably in the hands of the Aztecs and see what cool stuff can be a done with it. |
k, though I need you guys to do actual profile write ups.
Anyways interest seems to be 'seek out new technology'. So I will start you guys off probably in more of a caravan. There was something I was gonna reveal in game. Chrono Hunters, people that chase down chrono storms to get the technology they leave behind, or in some cases the people as that is one of their main recruitment methods. If you like that can be your proffesion. |
Name: Jack Zidane
Age: 24 Previous Proffesion: Apprentice Gunsmith Current Proffesion: Smithy/Pirate Time period: (from what time are you from*) 1867 Appearance: Bio: (include how long you have lived in this time) After receiving a marginal inheritance from an uncle Jack's father apprentice him out to the local Smith in Conaferr Nevada. After a lengthy tutelage Jack learned how to swag bullets and repair beaten and broken firearms. Like all smithyes he started to design his own modifications including but not limited to his own personal Custom LeMat Special, a heeffty beast; 9-shot cylinder with a nasty central barrel surprice. Everything about the same and dusty till a wind devil started picking things up. a mighty wind grabbed the smithy's forge and work house and throw it high into the sky. Upon waking from Dorothy's nightmare, about twenty forien speaking sailors inspecting him on a pirate ship; Jack shoved the larger barrel of his LeMat into the fourien speaker's face, "Get the fuck away from me frenchman." The captin took him on and he learned yet a new craft. After many ventures and loot alike the ship was finally taken and sunk by general authorities. Being thrown over board near the shore, Jack lingged onto old work benches. "Ah fuck me" Jack check his LeMat irate at that the fact it was now wet and the slugs useless. Jack then remembered his belt and the unchambered bullets still in his band. Jack splashed the water "Ah Fuck me." The smithy's number one drive now was to get more powder and more lead, to supplement his lost ammo. Dragging as much of his equipment as he could. Spending the bull's part of his own loot on parts and equipment, Jack was then able to manufacture a few rounds and two buckshots, but is now woofully in need of more supplies. Technology: (You may have up to four victorian era technologies, two industial, and one modern. Keep things like maintance and power source in mind.) Modern: MOTOROLA - VHF Walkie-talkie Industry: press/dye swaging kit , Six shooter(Custom LeMat Special Revolver) .36 / 28ga Shot victorian: ???Pocket Watch I really couldn't figure out what vict tech would be useful or not, Care to throw out some examples? I'll update this when I get a proper appearance written. |
well besides lack of appearance profile is fine. I'm also gonna assume you already realized that unlike most smiths, a gunsmith only smiths guns. It is a highly specialized form of smithing.
