yea I mean her lack of basic biological knowledge ok, but in her line of work she should have some grasp that there are bad people out there.

Oh and, because of my lack of D&D knowledge. Isn't there some rule that if you are raised as an undead you can't have a proper ressurection anymore?

Mirai Gen 07-14-2008 12:14 PM

Not at all. You just need remains.

Actually it was one of the things that was rather funny that you could do in 3e - Instead of lugging their corpse you could finish the fight, have the cleric/wizard Animate Dead them, walk back to town, Turn or otherwise destroy the zombie/skeleton, and have the cleric res him.

It happened once and it was kind of funny.

Really.

Like, really, continuity trumps comedy in the OOTS world and this comic kind of shatters the illusion that Celia is nothing more than a walking plot diversion.

She finally figured something was suss, but then didn't press it hard enough. I can't wait to see Roy's reaction to him getting turned into a golem.

Also "I'm a centaur" was cute in a sick kind of way.

Okay now I don't know what to think.

Aerozord 07-16-2008 10:59 AM

well she isn't a total airhead, though still it should have hit her alot sooner, or atleast when he was trying to buy the bodies, especially when he was trying to buy live bodies.

On another note, if she still thinks the curse mark is active and didn't mean to bring Belkar, well that doesn't really add up as it would have gone off since she seperated them. I guess she really doesn't care if the halfling goes pop

Meister 07-16-2008 11:03 AM

If she's airheaded enough to not notice she's about to sell her boyfriend's remains for less than morally sound purposes, I can believe she's airheaded enough to forget all about the mark getting triggered by separating Belkar and Roy. Actually I don't even recall if she knew the exact triggers for the mark in the first place.

Solid Snake 07-18-2008 03:23 PM

Celia (air-sigil chick) was never, in fact, present for any discussion whatsoever regarding the Mark of Justice. I don't think Haley told her anything regarding the Mark and Belkar after she arrived on the scene and she wasn't present for Shojo's explanation to the PCs regarding Belkar's punishment.
Even Haley, who should know about the MoJ, is completely unaware that Belkar's MoJ has been activated, as they forgot all about it upon leaving the Oracle's territory. But if Haley had more time to decipher Belkar's symptoms (or simply realize that the illness wasn't disappearing) she might have eventually come to the correct conclusion regarding what happened.
Roy knows everything that happened back there but is in no position to disclose that information to anyone.

As for OoTS, I'd like to add a single critique. I love Order of the Stick -- it's one of my top three favorite webcomics -- but The Giant sometimes irks me with the extraordinarily slow "progression" of his plot. There are times (see: the epic war for Hinjo's hometown) where the plot moves briskly, but there's plenty of times like this, right here, where the plot doesn't seem to be progressing. How long has it been since Elan and Haley's teams separated? And there's all these detours, like several comic strips with the Oracle, where absolutely nothing plot-worthy is really furthered. The Oracle activated Belkar's MoJ but really, in terms of influencing the course of things, it was sort of disappointing waiting all that time and getting nowhere with Roy's resurrection (not to mention nowhere with any effort of communication between the two "teams.")
Another example of these large diversions in the plot involved that very lengthy dissection of interaction between Miko and Redcloak and the evil lich dude's army at the borders, that took lots of unnecessary screentime and the overarching message could have been conveyed in half the length.
I still love OoTS -- but the diversions annoy me a tad, and the lack of plot progression gets a tad tiresome, even moreso for me than the occasional lack of updates.

Well she does know about the mark atleast so I'd imagine they would have mentioned the triggers at some point.

I am gonna have to second Snake's critique. I mean, I all about good pacing, but there are some times that the story feels like it is moving too slow. The battle of Sapphire City took far longer then it should, Haley and Elan being seperated is going on a bit too much.

Also I am all for it that the heroes sometimes need to get beaten, but now they are pretty much getting beaten, mauled, mutilated and thrown off a cliff.

And they kinda need to limit the enemies. Understandable with Xykon the Lich and his underlings, and Nale and his underlings, but to add a pissed off Noble to the mix is just getting bad.

Mirai Gen 07-19-2008 12:43 AM

I don't mind the angry usurping noble.

I more mind Xykon the world-dominating threat, Nale's hell bent revenge, the noble's insidious plan, the Order of the Stick being split up, Roy being dead, Belkar getting his Mark activated, Elan's team stuck on a crappy island, Celia drifting off to go find a cleric to resurrect Roy, and now Roy's body being used to create a golem.

Like, I understand that he's setting up lots of stuff at once but since he can't even keep to his thrice-weekly 'schedule' it just pisses me off that he's making the plot go even slower.

And you just know something else is going to happen.
