Song Summoner: Busting Robots With RPG James Brown

Song Summoner is a Monster Rancher-ish SRPG in which you can use your own songs to create random units that you kick ass with.

Quote:

From the days of old, Melodica was a land of music, a land of freedom. The people sang, played and danced to the music they so cherished. Until one day, they came — the Mechanoids, who enhanced their bodies with machinery. Those who were tempted by greed and power willingly gave away their souls for bodies of steel, forsaking their humanity to become cold, emotionless automatons. Now, they seek to destroy all that do not embrace their way of life.

But there is hope on the horizon. There are those who are fated to stand against the tyranny of the machines — the Superstars, who can turn sound into lethal weapons, and the Conductor, also known as the Song Summoner, who can summon powerful warriors born of music.

In their most desperate hour, Melodica awaits the arrival of their new Song Summoner...
You're that Song Summoner, trained by RPG James Brown to create an army of Tune Troopers to rescue your brother from the robot menace. Gameplaywise it's mostly a standard SRPG. Your troops gain no EXP normally but can be improved with items. Also, each Trooper has a Deployment Level which limits how many times they can be used, but this can be restored with items. Troopers are ranked in Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum flavours.

Also, listening to your songs outside of the game can power up the unit it was made with. RPG James Brown will give you suggestions on which songs to use as well.

Did I mention that this is only for iPods?

Is it already available for download? Because I'm in. Using "Libera me" from hell as a battle song will be gorgeous.

Feel free to insert your favorite "WTF" funny image here.

... shit.
Gotta buy an iPod.
Be right back!

But seriously.

La Grange troopers?
Sweet Child of Mine special forces?
A whole batallion of KISS soldiers?

Yes please!

Yep, it's already out.

:o I need my credit card.

Edit: Holy crap, it's like a budget GBA game... contracted out to some tiny developer.

The plot looks laughably dumb.
The villain is named Number 47!!!
A sub boss is named "Full House".

I wonder what kind of monstrosity can I make out of the Caramelldansen. Let's make a MAN from this JAM!

Damn, someone needs to steal this idea into a Freeware pc game now!! C'mon! That's too awesome not to exist!!

Damn...

Square keeps finding ways to take money from me...

Wasn't there already a Monster Rancher (or some such) game that used this precise idea?

I swear to god I saw this exact idea on a Playstation game before.

Jagos 07-08-2008 10:26 PM

You did. For five games on PSX but it used all sorts of CDs plus other games.

The coding must have been insane for that one...
