Clay is fun!
So yesterday I discovered the immense fun of creating with sculpy clay. I've been wanting to try for awhile, but I finally got a chance, and I completely loved it.
Things I made: Link Charm: (Note, for me, the thumbnail is just black, but it has the actual picture when you click it, just FYI) http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/2928/linkhc4.th.jpg Lucca Charm for one of my friends who loves Lucca. (Her hook fell out while baking. Sadness!) http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/7...clayal6.th.jpg And my personal favorite, Metaknight. (Sword is not attached) http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/522...ighthk4.th.jpg Aside: Interestingly enough, the hardest part of metaknight to do was his mask. Considering it was smaller than my thumbnail, I don't have an individual shot of the other ones(Aang and Eve), but here's a group picture: http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/7...ayworksqu4.jpg I made all of those, except for the Edward one. The Edward one was made for me by my roommate. Other things that were made by my friends, but I don't have any pictures: Companion Cube, Tiny Mushrooms (green and red variety), Ocarinas, Magic Wand, Banana Peel (ala MarioKart), Bob-Bomb, Roy Mustang, Navi, and that's all I can remember right now. Liking Metaknight so much, Maybe I'll try to make more characters from Smash Brothers once I go to the store and get some more clay. Maybe try something bigger. In your opinion, what seems to be better, the stand-up ones that are just for decoration, or more like the other ones that can be used as charms (or even nerdy little earrings if you wanted)? |
If I wasn't such a writer I'd go pick up some clay. That looks totally awesome CJ.

You should go for it, Mirai. Some of my friends that played with the clay yesterday were moreso writers than they were artists, and their stuff came out just as good, if not better, than those of us who are moreso artists rather than writers.
Plus it's only $1.80 a pack, and it goes a long way. ($15 for a pack of 10) And it's really nice clay. It stays soft until baked, and you can actually mix the colors to make new colors. So, actually, if you're really good at mixing, you can pretty much make anything with Red/Yellow/Blue/Black/White. (But I'm lazy and went for the pack o 10, because it had a nice skin color) Plus, if you don't use it all up, you can send it to me and I'll make you something. =D! I just went out and bought a nice pack of it. Now I'm debating about what to make. Hmm. |
You should totally start doing NPF sprites in clay. There are tons of sheets for references at all angles. XD

Pick up some clay! It will make your day! ...Fucking heatwave. |

Staring defiantly into the oven, it's none other than...
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/6356/img0339dh4.jpg None other than Lucas! I'm going to make Claus for him later. But man, for the first time doing a full-body thing (metaknight doesn't count), it took forever. He can stand for awhile before the weight of his giant head topples him over. EDIT: Oh yes, before I bake him, should I try and give his hair texture, or just leave him be? |

Hair texture would be great, but don't overstrain yourself.
I'mma go see about finding some clay once I have free time (which I currently don't have much of - see the Bad Day thread). It looks like fun. EDIT: What RT linked to. |
