News: Animal Crossing & Punch-Out!! Wii Detailed
Posted by Nathan Whincup - Jul 11th 2008 12:13

The latest issue of NGamer reveals information from a secretive source about Animal Crossing Wii and a new installment of Punch-Out!!

Those who purchased last month's issue of NGamer will remember that the British publication teased at the revelation of a new project from Nintendo's internal development teams. We received the latest issue of NGamer this morning, and it offers up some very juicy information indeed. Here's a snippet from their feature about E3 2008...

"And if all goes to plan (and our sources haven't played a mean trick on us), that hands-on coverage will be of Animal Crossing and Punch-Out!! Wii, aka Nintendo's great hopes for 2008."

The article goes on to say that Animal Crossing Wii has been finished for a while, and though it isn't an MMO as suggested by rumours earlier this year, it features heavy use of Wi-Fi sharing (and presumably multiplayer, as in Wild World).

As for Punch-Out!! Wii, NGamer claim that Balance Board implementation is on the cards for dodging and weaving, in addition to Wii Remote and Nunchuk controlled punching (which goes without saying) in the style of Wii Sports Boxing and Rhythm Boxing, which was included as a minigame in Wii Fit.

Stick with N-Europe for E3 next week for quality news and coverage from Nintendo's highly anticipated conference.

I bet Animal Crossing Wii's subtitle is going to be City Folk, by the way. We'll see on Tuesday.

So it's now time to get a Wii and Punch out... DAMN YOU NINTENDO!!!

This + Chrono Trigger DS = poor man in college

Nintendo is trying to get all our monies aren't they.

And DAMNIT they are succeeding.

Why is Animal Crossing not being an MMO a bad thing? Because, if it were, it would really be little to no better than other things.

Eh, I'm not too hellbent on Animal Crossing.

Fuck yes Punch Out though.

I'm with Fencer here. I want my Animal Crossing to let me escape from my world into a world of amoral, stupid animals. And fishing. That can't happen if I have to deal with all the dicks from the real world digging up my flowers and scaring off my fish and dropping bugged items that brick my Wii and force me to start a new town for "epic lulz."

So, multi-player, but not a multi-player where I have to deal with the disgusting people I'm trying to avoid by playing Animal Crossing.

How would you feel if Animal Crossing went to an urban setting though? :p

Damn my lack of artistic talent which is inhibiting the sharing of the image that just ran through my head!

I want an Animal Crossing where you can be cheerfully fishing down at the polluted river, catching boots and mutant crabs, and then get killed in a drive-by gang shooting. That would be the bomb-diggety.

I agree with Phil and Fencer. Animal Crossing, even though its inhabitants seem to exist with the sole purpose of either directly or underhandedly insulting you, is too innocent and light hearted to be ruined by MMO jerk people. I don't need random people having Pete deliver crude letters to me or running through my flowers and chopping down my trees. Peaches are hard to grow in that damn town!!!!

But yeah, I'm excited for this. I recently got the GameCube version of Animal Crossing and have since become sadly and hopelessly addicted. To the point where I see a real bug in my yard and wonder if there's one of its species in the museum yet.
