oh I remembered something else great about the ending that suprised me. The comet in all those visions was always a ball of fire. Which we all know isn't a comet at all so of course we chalked it up to artistic licence. I was happy to find out it was flaming because it enters the upper atmosphere

I believe the proper term for what Aang did was Bender bending.

Yes indeed, that was a cool ending. I am pretty much thoroughly satisfied with it, aside for the pairing junk they had to throw in everywhere. I can imagine everyone screaming and crying and bragging about who was wrong and who was right, and it just BUGS me. It's like the Harry Potter ending.

But now that this is over and done with, MAN am I ready for the next series.

Katara can only blood bend during a full moon.

That said, that was better than I expected it to be. Yet all I can think about is what happens after this.

I really felt sorry for Azula by the end, though.

Yeah they make you actually care about her at the end.

Regardless, Katara is 2-0 against Azula, without even using her cheapo technique!

Oh yeaah. I forgot. Duh on me.

Ah I'm still all excited over the ending. I really loved it.

The past Avatars said that Aang can't let go of worldly things since as Avatar his job is to protect the world. But wasn't that what one needs to let go of to control the Avatar state?

Sithdarth 07-20-2008 01:15 AM

If I recall correctly he was supposed to let go of his personal worldly attachments and desires. Which is slightly different then simply distancing yourself from the world entirely and basically becoming a hermit monk that does nothing. Of course it could also be that as a defensive reaction no Avatar was meant to have full control of the Avatar state being able to call it up at will mostly because in the Avatar state the Avatar dies forever.

I was just slightly confused and perhaps disappointed with how Aang unlocked the Avatar State. I understand he didn't need to let go of Katara forever or anything, but I still don't see bumping his back against a rock would get the job done.

So is it for sure over, or is there supposed to be more coming?

PCD 07-20-2008 02:28 AM

Well, there's the live action movie, isn't there? I'm not sure what that will entail.

And I believe there was mention that the guys really wanted to do more in the Avatarverse, but with new characters.

EDIT: After looking online, I found that the live action movie is to be called "The Last Airbender", released July 2, 2010 (putting money on THAT getting pushed back), and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Hoping it'll be better than The Happening.
