Graecia: Of Magic and Mecha

The year is 1342 After Cataclysm, and two great kingdoms are embroiled in the fires of war. The King of Aglevin is dead, his dynasty has perished. Two great houses claim right to the Kingship. The House of Ledine, natives to Aglevin, lay their claim first and their patriarch, Henri IV, is crowned King in the capital city of Valois. Meanwhile, across the Channel of Platagen, lay the island kingdom of Predain. Predain's royalty belonged to the House of Reman, who also layed claim to the Aglevinean Crown by way of an ancient relation to the founder of the Aglevin kingdom. The two kingdoms are marching to war, this is the tale of that war.

So yes, this is the RP i've thought up. It's set in a fictional alternate medieval Europe called Graecia. The Cataclysm mentioned in the introduction was a traumatic world event which broke apart the old continents and formed the world in it's current configuration. More information on the Cataclysm will be revealed in the RP itself. We play as soldiers in a conflict analogous to the real world Hundred Years War. The big difference is the presence of two factors.

1. Magic. This magic is based on the willpower of the individual, similar to Tolkien's magic. It bends the rules of reality by the force of the individual's will. When sorceror's strive against each other, what takes place is a battle of minds, the loser will be 'broken' and reduced to a Gollum-like state by the power of the victor. The winner is then free to impose his will on reality.

2. Mecha. In this world, the primary weapons of knightly combat are not warhorses but mecharmours. A mecharmour is essentially an eight meter tall suit of mechanical plate armour, powered by a mixture of magic, hydraulics and steamworks. Those who have watched the anime Vision of Escaflowne will find these analogous to the guymelefs. These machines are worn like regular suits of armour and move according to the wearer's movements by using a complex internal harness harness for the wearer.

Our characters will primarily be the knights and mercenaries who wear the mecharmours in battle, on other side of the conflict. If you're interested, please submit a character sign-up using this format (my character as the example).

Name: William of Godwin
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Loyalty: The House of Reman
Appearance: A tall young man, around six feet in height, with broad shoulders and a lean, thin build. His eyes are a gray of the same shade as the sea on a stormy day, while his hair is a light brown, almost auburn, which he wears in a messy approximation of a caesar cut.
Personality: Friendly and congenial, but rash, headstrong and vengeful when angered.
Mecharmour Description: An 8.5 meter tall suit named Signore. It resembles a Greek hoplite (this fellow in steampunk mecha form) minus the horsehair crest. The main body is coloured in silver and blue with gold and red lining, it also has a long cloak with dark blue on the outside and red on the inside. Signore has two weapons, a long double-headed spear and an extendable bastard sword.
Misc: (you can put optional stuff like character biography here)

Hmm reminds me off warmachine.
Defintely cool though.
Whats your requirments as far as posts, and other things go?

Caesarius 07-16-2008 11:40 PM

Pretty standard really. No one-liners, no god-modding or meta-gaming, write each post in Third Person Narrative. Try to have at least a few paragraphs per IC post. Not a lot of OOC chatter. The standards really.

FF fanboy 07-16-2008 11:44 PM

Hmm, that's alot of writing. Are you gonna turn our posts into a book. XD

Caesarius 07-16-2008 11:55 PM

Perhaps :D Depends on the post quality.

Honestly though, a paragraph is just 3-5 sentences as a minimum, and 3 paragraphs per post as a minimum. That's only 9-15 sentences. Wholly reasonable I think.

It is, I'm just screwin with you, for the value of a joke.

Caesarius 07-17-2008 12:29 AM

I know, wasn't the best joke though :p

So you're going to join?

FF fanboy 07-17-2008 12:37 AM

Yeah sure, I'll post a char in about an hour, backstory is optional right?

Caesarius 07-17-2008 12:39 AM

Yup, or you can choose to reveal backstory through the roleplay. That's what i'm doing :)

Name: Vison
gender: male
age: 32
persona: Freindly, and chivalrus epitamy of knightlyness(not sure if thats a word)
loyalty: The house of Xerxes (just to spite your spartan image)
apperance: vison is a tall, dark skinned man he wear a white trenchcoat with curtailed black ends, on his face he wears a gold visor ala cyclops.
Mecha suit; His mecha suit is literally what you'd expect a knights armour to be 8"11, weilding a sword, and shield. The suit is 8"11 embroideried with golden designs of past heros who have died in battle.
