The Dark Knight
I had the delight of an Advance Pre-screening to see this movie tonight. The only unfortunate circumstance about the whole occasion was that I got off work late, and thus arrived at the theatre late, and thus had to sit in the front row.
It was amazing. Man this has been an awesome summer for movies, and here's another one. There's a good deal of extra build up for this movie because of Heath Ledger's death. All I can say is, he'll be remembered as a true actor, and I've got a good deal more respect for him now. If you liked Batman Begins, you're going to love this. If you didn't, well I guess I don't particularly care about your opinion anyway, and you might like the sequel anyway. Friggin' yay! 9.5/10, probably worth a few Oscar nominations, not that I believe in the Oscars. I'll sleep on it and maybe see it again to revise my opinion. |
Well, i always said how i didnt like some of the things they tend to do with batman... like turning him to some sort of Armored bat-themed SWAT guy, and giving Empahzis on his Vehicles instead of his skills and brains. Less Batman, more Super-agent-guy.. y'know?
On the other hand i'm really hyped to see this and everything i heard about this new Joker is so great, that it's enough for me to go see it on the very first chance |
One thing I will say about the film, is Batman Begins was more like the "Creation of Batman," while the sequel was much less focused on his training, gear, etc. He still had gadgets, yeah, he's frickin' Batman, but there was full and complete villain development and it was oh so satisfying.
Joker starts bad, gets worse, gets atrocious, and then gets holyshit. |

Anywho, I am excited to see it, in fact, this morning I watched Equilibrium just to get some Christian Bale action. I just can't help wondering how the movie would have been if Mark Hammil was actually the Joker. |
I wasn't a big fan of Batman Begins, and I never really got caught up in the TDK hype, but if it's as amazing as people are saying, I guess I'll end up going.
Did they show the Watchmen trailer, Azisien? |
You know what...instead of going at midnight im going to get a good nights rest and watch it first thing in the morning...at matinée price...yah opening night was sold out for the city...

And no, they did not show any Watchmen trailer. The only trailer they had was for Terminator 4. |

The Watchman trailer is reportedly attached to all IMAX showings. (Though for the life of me I can't find the article in which I read that now.)
In any case, I'm gonna try my damnedest to see this in IMAX on Friday. There's a midnight showing, but I doubt I'll be able to get to it... |
There was a really great and illuminating interview with the director of the new Batman movies in the latest edition of Newsweek. I'd strongly recommend reading it to get a better idea of what he was trying to accomplish. I, for one, am just satisfied that he's expressed so much interest in making a superhero movie that's deep. You know, the type that doesn't just include endless action sequences, but also makes you pause and reflect on philosophical truths and moral values.
