With the end of the Paradox RP (thing lasted 6 months...I'll call that a successful run), I've gone back over my old RP ideas, and thought up some new ones. And I think I'm bored enough that I can throw my hat into the GMing arena once more.

Below are the games that I have developed. Please note that they are listed in order of readiness. The ones towards the top of list are more ironed out than the ones at the bottom, and as such, will start sooner.

So, assuming anyone is still reading at this point, on to the choices:


Big Bad Wolf Limited (redux)

To call Big Bad Wolf Limited a mercenary organization would be technically true, but it doesn’t really define what the company is all about. Big Bad Wolf Ltd specializes in jobs that more traditional mercenary companies simple cannot handle or will not handle…either because they don’t believe the job is real or because they don’t have the specialized resources they’d need to handle it.

Jobs like taking care of a prototype military robot gone wild (and you don’t want to call the military in because then you’d lose your contract), stopping amazingly elaborate heists that make the ones in the movies look like child’s play, putting an end to psychic corporate espionage, clearing out that otherworld phenomenon that ate the team of paranormal investigators you hired…stuff like that.

Big Bad Wolf Limited has the equipment and the people (at least, as far as anyone can prove, their people) to handle these specialized (and not to mention very high paying jobs.

Truthfully, I came up with this idea while catching part of Die Hard with a Vengeance, as the baddies open the vault, I thought to myself “what would happen if when they opened the vault, there was a guy there waiting for them?” This RP will also take elements from Devil May Cry, 007 and Mission: Impossible (for gadgets and such), and the Die Hard films. This is generally intended to be a relatively light-hearted RP will over-the-top action.

Yeah, I know last time I tried this one, it had the popularity, but I blew it pretty hard...

...The idea has bounced around in the back of my head since then, and I believe I’ve come up with a much better selection of scenarios, not to mention a more concrete overall plot. I’d love to take this one for another spin and give it a good run. And think this time we won't worry about the whole chain of command thing.


From On High: As far humanity was concerned, the world was about to end. The few thousand survivors of the race found themselves making their last stand in their final stronghold, the city of Avalon.

When all hope seemed lost, a light broke through the gathering darkness. From that light, descended beings of incredible power. Single handedly, these newcomers from the heavens smashed the forces laying siege to the city, and began the counterattack against the Dark.

In this RP, you are the beings that descend to save the final bastion of humanity…in fact, other than you skill in battle, descending to save Avalon is the first real memory you have. Are you angels? Gods? Mortals granted amazing powers? You’re not sure yourself…all you know is that the forces that seem bent on the genocide of mankind is your enemy, and that you have the power to wipe them out. This would be a super-powered brawler style. I have a couple of ideas to try to keep things from turning into “I swing my sword and lots of them die” style of posts, but would like some more input on this if this one wins.

This RP was inspired by the game “Devil Kings”…continuing my odd practice of getting ideas from less than popular media.


Space Lord of the Rings (real title pending)

Lord of the Rings…in space.

Kind of.

And if you think you’ve seen this one kind of recently, you have…PyrosNine tried to set it up, and before you ask, I do have his permission to steal his idea. Unlike P9’s, which was more of a sequel, my concept for this is more of a retelling. Basically replace “Middle-Earth” with the galaxy and take it from there. The RP will follow the spirit of the books and the movie (probably moreso the movies…sorry to all you purists out there), but it won’t follow it exactly…I’ll throw in my own twists (partly to make it work in a galactic scale, and partly to keep the story fresh). Depending how the story goes (ie: if the Fellowship breaks or what have you), I might have need for a co-GM/co-conspirator to help me shepherd this thing along. This is still in the planning stages, and would take me awhile to get up and running.


Devil Arms (tentative title)

This is my roughest idea so far (I had one plot idea, but I couldn't really get it to work so I scrapped it), but I really enjoy the concept, so I'll put it up here for consideration.

The concept is that of the Devil Arms in the Devil May Cry series. For those of you unfamiliar with the series, Devil Arms are basically weapons that come from the essence of a demon. Most often, Devil Arms come to those who have defeated a demon in battle, and thus claim their essence as a weapon.

The plot concept I have right now would be either based in the same world as the Devil May Cry series (with no chance of running into major characters). There are demon hunters outside of Dante, ones who are straight human, and capable ones at that (as proven by Lady). That would be you: devil hunters who were lucky or talented enough to claim a devil arm of your own. And...well...that's really all I got so far. Like I said, this is still a pretty rough idea.
Dang it, this reminds me that I need to get around to beating DMC3.


There they are. Assuming enough interest is expressed (looks like we're in the middle of an RP-revival here), the starting time would depend on the title chosen. Big Bad Wolf Limited and From On High would start relatively quickly, while the others would need ironing out.

I'd vote for Big Bad Wolf Limited and/or Devil Arms, myself. Those sound like really good ones.

I'd go for everything cept the SLotR.

Put me down for all of them (yes I know I dropped out of BBW last time but that was just because I wasn't happy with my character choice). I am a little dubious of how the space LotR will work though.

I think my favourite of these would be Devil Arms, purely because I love DMC.

I would choose any of these, except Space LoTR, because it doesn't sound fun, but my favorite would be the Devil Arms. (I've heard DMC is good).

Only question, if Devil Arms is chosen, can the demon essence weapon be anything? For example, I'm already thinking of a concept in which the demon who is killed by my tentative character badly hurts him, and so to heal himself, my demon hunter makes the essence into demonic "bandages" that cover him completely, and act as weapons. Would this be appropriate? I'm never played the Devil May Cry series, so I wouldn't know.

If not, I already have another concept thought up if Devil Arms is chosen. For the other options, I already am thinking of characters, but I'd like to play Devil Arms the most.

My vote is for either BBW Ltd. or Devil Arms. Both seem very appealing and at the easy rate that the RPs I'm in are going, I should have no problem keeping up with another.

Also just a side note that I noticed, if you say the abreviated version of Space Lord of the Rings (SLotR) as an actual word it sounds a lot like "slaughter". Hmm is there a relation there or is it just chance?

If we go strictly by game, Devil Arms are straight weapons...but they come in various forms, so just about anything is reasonable.

Pure chance...I'm not clever enough to think up things like that.

So, it looks like the two contenders are Big Bad Wolf Limited and Devil Arms, with Devil Arms having the edge at the moment.

...I suppose that means I better start thinking up a plot for Devil Arms...

I'll probably take votes until at least Saturday.

I was going to vote BBW, but... I think I'm going to vote for SLotR, instead.

I'd like Devil Arms myself. Preferably one that only takes the form of ammunition.

Imagine just running around, carrying a bowling ball of demon essence, looking for the closest canon to blow it out of.

In any case, I'll probably sign up for any one you pick. Unless, of course, I forget about it and miss the threads completely.

I suppose I really shouldn't be surprised by this...consider it's from the person who brough exploding plushies into the Evil's Return RP.
