Really? I can understand like a background picture in the library, but where in the pilot episode?

Right in the beginning, where Katara does her little speech. You know how Aang flies around, before crashing into something? He crashes into the statue of a lion turtle.

Yeah, it's not that far-fetched to believe that the airship dudes were just, like, really good elite firebenders, and the tank guys were average non-elite firebenders.

Granted this begs the question of why didn't a team of elite firebenders manage to stop a trio of kids from destroying their entire fleet but at some point you do have to say well, it's a cartoon about a bunch of tweenagers who save the world, what are you going to do?

I'd like to point out something about most any average firebender throughout the story: they're just kinda dumb and unreliable. These are the same people who couldn't keep the Avatar locked in his cell in season one despite the fact there were four of them guarding one door. If four firebenders (who I would assume would be pretty good, considering they were guarding the Avatar) couldn't stop Aang (and this is before he can do anything really useful with his bending, other than air), and Zuko from escaping, I'm not expecting much from a team of them to stop Sokka, Toph, and Suki at their most badass.

Also Azula has blue fire because it helps differentiate between her and Zuko's fire during the duel. :D

EDIT: Randomly: it's really neat to watch the earlier episodes and see how far the show has come since then.

Honestly, you guys keep going on and on about blue fire. For me, I'm not surprised at all that the Fire Lord doesn't have Blue Fire. What surprised me is that he didn't have Green or Purple or even White flames, like what the Dragons revealed to Zuko and Aang. It would seem that the average Run Of The Mill Firebender can only use normal colored fire because that's just how it works for them. But from what the Dragons reveal, there's a whole rainbow of colors to unlock. Azula just so happened to figure out how to get Blue working.

Also, I love what the Woman Air Monk Past Avatar said to Aang when he refused to listen to anybody. "Yes, that is the way of the Air Monks. However, you are no longer one. You are the Avatar. And this entire situation...is not about you. It's about the world." One day, Aang's gonna have to kill someone. Simply locking their bending won't be enough. We'll see if he's able to handle it when it rolls around, or if he'll get himself killed.

Oh, also, Iroh teached his goddamn fire breathing technique to everyone. Seriously.

Speaking of Iroh, why didn't they let him show off his buffness more? I mean honestly. I wanted to see him doing some major bonebreaking moves with martial arts.

Also, it sucks that Sokka lost not only his Space Sword, but Boomerang as well. Did they need to get rid of ALL his weapons!?

Aerozord 07-21-2008 08:32 PM

Its ok, boomerang always comes back

Raiden 07-21-2008 08:35 PM

"Doesn't look like boomerang is coming back, Toph."

I miss Boomerang...I'm sure he could always get another one, but it's the weapon he picked up in his first battle against the Fire Nation, on the day his mother died! That's sentimental value!

CelesJessa 07-21-2008 08:37 PM

I'm sure he'll find a way to get his boomerang back somehow. At the very least he could probably employ Aangs avatar powers to somehow help him find it. That will be their next quest: The Search for the Boomerang.

"Did boomerang come back?"

"No. Suki did!"

I don't now about you, but that line was totally worth it at the end.
