Current seasons, shows that dosent deserve seasons, cartoons, sitcons... just what is on yout TV right now that should be banned back to the 11th pit of hell?

My current pickings:

Lil'bush
My Bush
The Sarah Silverman Show
Family Guy

Family Guy

Simpsons (Let it DIE)

1) everything
2) okay so Mythbusters, House and Anthony Bourdain are an exception to 1)
3) apart from that though, seriously, everything

Doc ock rokc 07-25-2008 12:59 AM

black gold
dangerous catch
ice truckers
ninja warrior (in till they get some new episodes)
American dad
mind of manca (and if he shows up on television again...)
stupid "reality" shows
lil'bush

Roy_D_Mylote 07-25-2008 03:06 AM

ECW on Sci-Fi
Flashpoint
Half the episodes of Lost. They actually tend to, on a scale of one to ten, fall between 1-3 or 9-10.
Saturday Night Live
Law and Order & Criminal Intent
CSI: Miami & New York
Monk. There, I said it.

Whenever that's on i just produce white noise in my head to overlap it... it's easier to do that than to expect common sense from Lornie...

What? No love for The Big Bang Theory? C'mon, dont be a sour grape...

This would be a lot easier if we said 'What SHOULD be on tv' because my list is just too damn long.... but I'll shorten it.

-The Simpsons and all network cartoon shows inspired by it
-NOT Futurama
-NOT Firefly
-Any Super-Hero cartoon not made by Bruce Timm.
-Fox (yeah the whole network)
-'CW' or whatever the hell they call themselves these days.
-Any gameshow that's not 'Jeopardy', or 'Deal or no Deal'. This does not include reality shows.
-Reality shows... except 'Next Dance Crew' and 'Ninja Warrior'.
-Medical Dramas. Well, I should put a caveat on that one; If there is a big Medical drama on TV, it should be the only one allowed on TV. So basically save your House and your Grey's Anatomy and your St. whatevers until ER is finished. I mean really it's just overkill because whether or not you even like ER you are getting the same horse-pucky on all these other shows so let's just keep it to one and everyone can be on the same page. This rule probably should apply for a lot of shows.
-Smallville

PCD 07-27-2008 09:41 PM

-Goddam season two of Heroes
-Back at the Barnyard
-Anything involving "Flava Flav" or "New York"
-Cereal commercials

You put Monk on the same list as all those other things? My goodness man......I mean I can't even think of a sentence to describe the feeling reading that.

Anyhoo. I cannot list all the things i dislike without overloading the internet. The only few good things on tv anymore are the few animes on Adult Swim of any worth(like Code Gease), House, Monk, and occasionally Scrubs(mostly the newer ones aren't so great ones)

Everything else gets a resounding "meh"

Kim 07-27-2008 09:59 PM

Code Geass...

Everyone, pity the man.

Well, unless he's watching it for the humor of how ridiculous it is.

I kid.

Professor Smarmiarty 07-27-2008 10:25 PM

Pretty much everything. Exceptions include The Office, Mythbusters, Arrested Development adn that's about it.

Magus 07-27-2008 11:05 PM

Nique, Deal Or No Deal is the gameshow most devoid of entertainment and any reason to tune in more than once on television right now (that I can think of). Just because Howie Mandell has begun to offer 30,000 ACRE MIDWEST RANCHES and TRIPS ON SPACE SHUTTLES for the prize doesn't change the fact that to get the prize someone points at random suitcases for an hour, and once in a while thinks about quitting but never does because, crap, there are TEN ONE MILLION DOLLAR SPACES up there FOR TONIGHT ONLY, except he keeps doing it.

At least throw in a question and answer round (or have they?!)

Like someone else said the amount of shows I watch is far smaller than the shows I don't, I think about 98% of what is on TV is pretty terrible. As my current pick for worst of the litter, I'm torn between Big Brother, because after, what, a dozen seasons, I still don't know what the object of the "game" is, and that show Swingtown which is supposedly about wild '70s orgies and drug use except without any actual nudity or, well, a recognizable plot, and it's on CBS. They do seem to be attempting to make people like it with ad campaigns and NEW NIGHT AND TIMEs, but I think it will soon disappear from the schedule.

Actually since both of those are on CBS, as well as the mediocre, generic, and completely dead FLASHPOINT OMG SO EXCITING, I guess that makes CBS the biggest failure.

Professor Smarmiarty 07-27-2008 11:55 PM

I agree with criticism of Deal or No Deal. There's really no point to it. I mean there is some math involved to maximise your margin but that's about it.

Well, the problem is that I absolutely do not care about any of the characters on Monk. I think Traylor Howard is hot, I think Tony Shaloub is a good actor, and that's it, full stop. I don't care about Natalie or Monk or The Two Cops. The Two Cops are complete stereotypes. Goofy wacky guy and Serious Police Captain Who Doesn't Take Main Character Seriously Even Though Main Character Is Never Wrong. Monk's OCD is funny sometimes but other times it's embarrassing, and I never really feel the mysteries, if only because a lot of them get solved out of Very Lucky Coincidence with someone saying something random and Monk saying "I've got it!" At least Psych knows it's ridiculous and plays it up. Monk never seems to get so far out there that I feel like they know they're silly, and are enjoying it.

Has the new season of shows come on yet? Because I think this list will change drastically once the shows that don't suck get started again.

I haven't seen any "HEROES THREAD" popping up so I guess not.

Ok well 'Deal or No Deal' goes along with the sort of same theory as my medical drama, i.e. we only need one type of this show on at a time. There's a butt-load of really worthless 'next-gen' game shows on and I only need one. I choose Deal or No Deal because it has Howie Mandel and I enjoy making up somewhat ironic theories about where they stash the big money cases. I know it's garbage but I'm ok with that.

Yeah, once otherwise Flight of the Conchords would totally be on my list. They used years worth of songs in the first season though so unlikely to see any more.

Tophat 07-28-2008 05:31 AM

The only show I make time for is Mock the Week, which is quite simply the best thing on TV. I'll watch Would I Lie to You? and Eggheads. Everything else sucks. But especially Lab Rats. The fact that the BBC have the audacity to put this on straight after Mock the Week is appalling. Also please let Big Brother end forever, it was kind of interesting in the first couple of series watching people go stir crazy trapped in a house. Now it's just a 21st century freak show.
