The world Changes... then what?

i was just wondering about it these days...

You watch a movie like Demolition Man, and you go like "Man... the got the world all wrong!" and then you watch Judge Dread and go "Not even close" and shit like that...

Then, it passed in my mind things like 9/11 , and how i was at school that day, and how i actually ditched school to run home and go see what the fuzz was all about at CNN live... and how i belived the world would change after that, and even the small possibility of a 3rd world war happening there, right at that momment...

Have you ever thought about what you would do if you saw the world change? Not small changes... but like, BIG fucking changes beyond our scope of reality... like, Story was marked by "Before and After" that day...

Just think about it, you go to work, or school, people are talking about that "Big new thing" they heard, then you get home and there it is...

Someone discovered Bacteria in mars, or microbes... and now, Aliens exist.

Or someone developed an actually flying car that cost as much as any normal car and rides on solar power.

Or someone actually discover that there are in fact millenial bacteria in the North pole and it's spreading on the oceans as the ice melts... and fisherman dies at sea, the bacteria goes into him, and he reapers on shore. Walking without a pulse and minimal brain functions... BOOM Zombies exist.

What sort of world changing scenario could befall you that could actually change your logic? How do you plan foward?

It totally depends on what the change is and how severe. I mean, zombies pretty much means I kill myself on the spot or at least invest in some method of quick on-the-spot suicide.

I think the hardest thing for me to process would be the legitmate discovery of a parrellel universe. Aliens I can handle, faster than light space travel also... But alternate dimensions 'Sliders' style? Confusing.

Zombies i wouldnt freak out as much on the spot.... i WOULD proceed to have a gun with me at all times by any means necessary and learn how to shoot it, PLUS a hefty load of ammo back at home.

Now, let me tell you what would make me freak out... Someone finally build that robot that can replicate itself. It can assembly other AI mechanical beings.

Then, a scientist programs a certain blueprint for that AI to build, and when it does, the scientist discoveries that the robot "Changed" the blue print on its own.

there... a robot had it's first though and went against human orders. Im officially freaking out and going amish with a shotgun...

You honestly don't have a Zombie Survival Plan? There's a book out, The Zombie Survival Guide, you might want to look into. Plus the actual survival info is generic enough to help with almost any post-apocalyptic scenario.

Between that and Boy Scouts, I'm pretty much set for any scenario that doesn't kill me outright.

Honestly the very idea terrifies and offends me to such a degree that I have no fantasies whatsoever about attempting to survive in a world where legions of undead are lurking around the corner and infecting humanity.

If it's containable, that's a different issue. If we're in a 'I am legend scenario' where it spreads and can't be controled at all then I mean, why even bother going on?

Dude, i now we all love Action movies. But the very second i see a dead person walking on the street killing other people... im freaking out.

So apparently it's wrong to think that doomsday will be fun. I knew I was weird already. ;)

That said, it doesn't matter what happens, my first concern is getting my family to safety. Until that is guaranteed, nothing else matters and all of my plans are designed to ensure that end.

I am of the firm belief that any and all things could happen at any moment, so I won't be terribly surprised if/when some terrible disaster befalls humanity. Basically I'll be the guy who goes "Yep, I told ya so! Had to happen eventually". After that I'll worry about exactly what has happened and plan accordingly.

I'm still waiting for jet-packs, flying cars, and wars to be fought with mechs.

Doc ock rokc 07-27-2008 03:55 AM

first off I'm waiting for mainstream mindreading helmets that we can use to type or draw with out our clumsy hands

Second off i have to agree with Nique...Zombies scare the SHIT OUT OF ME and i would do the same thing he would and light myself on fire just in case...
