Halo: Everyone to the Lifepods! We're goin' in!
"Cortana, All I need to know is did we lose them?"
"I think we both know the answer to that..." The captain, with his hair tunring an obvious gray, rubbed the back of his neck, "We made a blind jump... how did they...?" "Get here first?" The smooth female's AI voice finished his question. "The Covanent ships have always been faster. As for tracking us all the way from Reach... at light speed, my monavering options were limited." "We were running dark, yes?" "Until we decellerated No one could have missed the hole we tore in subspace." The captain looked over a workmen's shoulder as he continued his work, frantically trying to find out where they had stumbled upon. The AI continued, "There were waiting for us on the far side of the planent." "So... where do we stand?" "Our fighters are mopping up the last of the recon picket now, nothing serious. But I've isolated approach signitures from mulpitple CCS class battle groups, make it three capital ships per group, and in about 90 seconds, they'll be all over us." The captain had made his way over to the main viewscreen, and took out his pipe. He wasn't allowed to smoke it, but it was always something nice to nibble on. After hearing the situation, he closed his eyes and sighed. "Well that's it then. Bring the ship back up to combat alert Alpha. I want everyone at their stations." "Everyone sir?" "Everyone... and Cortana..." In front of him, a small purple figure of a woman appeared in front of him. Data scrolling around her body. She put her hands on her hims, "Hm?" "Let's give our friends a warm welcome..." His eyes narrowed. "I've already begun..." She grinned. Down in hanger, Marines were running about, trying to get ready for the invasion that they knew was going to happen. One marine had a pair of lights, trying to guide a Pelican out of it's hold. On the ground, Tanks and Warthogs were all over the place, just waiting for a human to get their hands in them. Cortana's voice came through the loud speaker. It was still audible, even through all the noise. "Attention. All combat personal! Please report to your action stations!" Markez took his time getting to where he needed to go. He could hear his troops gathering in front of him. Seeing some of them fooling around, "You heard the lady, move like you got a purpose!" His deep voice bellowed through out the entire room, and everyone got the message, and ran to where they needed to go. It was a moment before the feet settled in front of Lt. Markez Risck. Forming two lines around him, he walked down the middle, getting his men ready for battle. "Men, we have them dumb bugs out in the middle of nowhere to keep them from getting their FILTHY calws on earth. BUT, we stumbled on to somethin' so hot for em' that their scramblin' all over each other to get it. Well, I don't care if it's God's own anti-son-of-a-BITCH machine, or a giant hoola hoop, we're not gonna let them have it! What we will let them have is a belly full of lead, and a pool of their own blood to drown in!" He took a moment to let the speech sink in, then, tunring aburptly, he asked, "Am I right Marines!?" "Sir, Yes sir!" They cried out. "Mm-hm... Damn right I am! All right! Role call! Who's here!?" |
(Am I doing this right?)
"I'm here" said Calvin as he raised his hand and loaded his shotgun. He was eager to fight and it was obvious in his voice. |
James or Jimmy as he was more commonly known slammed a clip into his MA5B and looked up "Corporal James Arclite ready to go, Sir. Is it true their thawing out the Master Chief for this one?"
|
"Slash Higgens, at the ready!" Slash yelled, fumbling with his assault rifle. He never liked the human weapons, and couldn't wait to take out a couple covenant so he could steal their shit. "When do we move out, Sir!"
|
"Corporal Mike Owens, ready SIR!!" he yelled. He slung his shotgun over his shoulder and checked his grenades. Two frags, and to his surprise, he still had two plasmas. He thought he had used all of them back at Reach. Well, just a small surprise for those damn bastards, he thought as he checked his battle rifle.
|
"Sergeant Jason Edom ready, willing, and able, sir!" Jason slammed a clip into into his pistol and holstered it. He took up his sniper rifle and saluted. The marksman couldn't wait to blow the brains out the back of covenant skulls.
|
"Sergeant Billy Wolfram at the ready sir! Ready to go into hell feet first, SIR!" Wolf called out as he fast loaded his shotgun, and slammed a clip into his MD9. He made sure that his captured plasma sword was secure in his hip holster, and then he grinned once he knew everything was ready.
Time to lop off their heads and shove them on pikes. I've got your "Will of the gods" right here you Covie bastards! He thought, resting his right hand on the sword's hilt. OOC: "Feet first into hell" is part of the Helljumpers motto. It stems from the fact that the orbital drop pods the Helljumpers usually use heat up to near fatal temperatures during reentry. Hence the name and motto. |
Calvin looked around and shook his head. "Well, now I wish I'd made a better introduction" He sighed and slammed his chip in. "Well, if it makes any difference, corperal Calvin MacNeil is at the ready SIR! And I'll go to hell before I see those damn freaks in my homeland......."
|
"Corporal Johnson here when you need me sir!" Joel said as he was loading his sniper rifle. "I hope I get to kill some bastards today!"
|
PFC Chris Glover Reportn', SIR!
He bellowed, hands lovingly securing his MK. II, S2 across his back. |
Markez took note of everyone's voice that piped up. "All right! Now move it out! Double time!" The men, taking the order, ran to where they needed to go. Following behind them was Markez, M9 in his hand. "All you greenhorn who wanted to see Covenant up close... This is you're lucky day!"
This ship shook violently, before Cortana's voice came through. "We have Covenant leaking into the ship! They will be in hanger bay one in five minutes." Markez took a quick glance around. "That's us ladies! All right, set up shop, cause this is going to be rush season!" He found a place behind a parked warthog and pulled his pistol to his eye towards a door. Come on... let's see what these guys really have! I trust my men! They won't go down easy! Heh... these guys don't stand a chance! |
Joel put his sniper rifle hanging behind his back cause he was too close to the door to use it. Joel took out his sidearm and pinted at the door. "Come on...come on..." He said to him self.
|
Chris checked the magazine on his Mk.II once more, This here's a thing a' beauty, and ran up behind the warthog with Lieutenant Markez, saying
"mind if I join you, sir? I always like to have someone to talk to while I shoot" |
Joel moved behind a container box he saw. He usualle liked to shoot alone...especially when using his sniper rifle.
|
Mike took shelter behind a nearby crate. He was looking through the scope on his battle rifle, ready to shoot anything that was going to come through. He was also ready to throw a grenade if there were too many of the Covenant coming through. He smiled as he pointed at the rifle at about the head level of a Grunt.
|
Seeing Joel move to one side of the bay, Jason moved to other so that the area would be better covered by sniper fire. He climbed up on top of the treads of an immobile Scorpion and laid prone. He propped his rifle up, and gazed at the door through his scope. Fumbling blindly with his free hand, he placed a few extra rounds of ammor on the Scorpion next to him so he could reload faster.
|
Billy took cover near Jason's positon, keeping his shotgun leveled at the door. He was well obscured by the forward tread of the parked Scorpion, which would protect him from plasma fire and the needles.
Come on you bastards, let's see what you've got. he thought as he heard explosions nearing their positions. |
Calvin jumped up onto a warthog and manned the chaingun on the back. He smiled gleefully as he aimed it where the Covenant would appear. "Lets rumble!" he said.
(Just to let you know, Calvin always talks in a Scottish accent. I probubly should have mentioned that earlier.) |
Jimmy had scuttled behind a container of Warthog parts but wasn't exactly aiming at the door. He figured the Covenant to be smarter than to wander straight into a meat grinder so he kept his MA5B ready to shoot in any direction he needed it to. Alright you slimy sons of bitches, come and get your daily dosage of lead
|
Joel put his pistol away and took his sniper rifle from his back. Le'ts see what they can do...
|
Outside the door Markez was facing, he saw it pulse blue, following that was smoke seeming through the cracks. He whispered just loud enough so the others could hear him, "Get ready men..." He could hear an Elite's call, as the door flew open and grunts started filing in, one on top of another. Markez stood and started to fire, "Triggers down men! Triggers down!"
The war for Halo... had officially started. |
Paul fired on the first Grunt he saw, the bullet drilling into the little thing's head. He shot two more before he saw the numbers they had. He pulled out a plasma and threw it in the general direction of an Elite, taking cover after he had thrown it. Instead of throaty growls, he heard high-pitched screams, meaning he had thrown one onto a grunt. More screams ensued after that and he leapt back up and began shooting again.
|
Calvin laughed as he fired his railgun into the concentration of grunts.
|
Jason had his sights dead center on the skull of the first elite that came through the door behind the grunts. He pulled the trigger, and the alien fell to the ground with a hole where his brains should be. The sniper swung his rifle around and took down two grunts in quick sucession: one with a head shot, and the other through the chest. As he lined up his next shot on a grunt, another one had moved behind the first. Jason pulled the trigger quickly and took down both grunts in one shot.
"One stone," he muttered under his breath, as he quickly reloaded. The air was thick with bullets and plasma now. A plasma grenade floated through the air above Jason's head, and stuck itself to the barrel of the Scorpion's barrel. Jason scrambled to dive off the tank's tread, and shoved Billy clear as he went. The grenade went off and rocked the tank, and showered bits of the barrel everywhere. Jason slung his rifle over his shoulder, and pulled out his pistol. Firing quickly he took down several more grunts and another elite, but it felt like for every one he took down, two took its place. [ooc]Was it okay what I did with Wolf's character? I can change it if not.[/ooc] |
Jimmy shrugged as the grunts piled in one after the other "guess you ugly bastards are dumber than I give you credit for..oh well" He pulled the trigger back on his MA5B and unleashed scorching hot lead fury into the mass of enemies
|
Hoo-yaH!, baby!
Hollered Chris as he started picking off grunts with nigh a half-second in between shots Down in front, asshole! HE screams, sigting an elite lowering his plasma shield for a moment, and taking three rounds from his MK.II to its cranium, falling lifelessly to the floor. He too fall quickly behind the warthog, narrowly dodging a hail of plasma fire. He stands and pops off a few more shots before returning to cover and speaking to the Lieutenant Sir, how're we s'posed to get down on that thing (Halo) alive? And where's the Master Sergeant? |
Joel took his time aiming as he didn't like to miss. "One bullet one enemy" he said to him self as he shot. He had already taken care of at least 5 of those bastards.
|
Billy opened up with his shotgun, cutting down a jackal that he had blindisided. He scond blast took out an elite's shields, who was downed by his third shot. A second elite leapt over the tank in an attempt to get at him, but Billy impaled him with the plasma sword and kicked the elite's corpse backwards into a horde of grunts.
Billy drew his pistol and started point shooting. "Lieutenant, there's too many of them!" |
Joel put away his sniper rifle and took out his pistol as they got closer. One of the jackals tried to sneak up on him, but died trying. Even when Joel was using his pistol he tried to kill with as few shots as possible and aimed carefully. "There are too many" he thought to him self as he started to run out of ammo.
|
"Triggers down! Don't let them through!" But no matter how much ammo was used, they just kept coming. They soon had overrun Markez's unit, and every other marine there. Clicking the gun, not knowing there was no bullets left, he put his pistol in his pocket and reached for the big gun, as he liked to call it. "Down! Get down men!" He was able to push his voice over the fire. One explosion cleared the door, another moved the bodies. "All right men! Move out!" As he jumped from behind the crate and picked up some pistol ammo along the way.
Where the hell is the Master Chief anyway? We could use his help right about now... Leading his men down several corridors, he pushed open the door to the mess hall. Seeing a few Elites scoping the area, the bodies of several shattered cooks and marines, he took out a frag and tossed it in, "Frag out!" An explosion, then several Plasma rifle shots came throught the door, several almost taking out his head. "Go in! C'mon men! We have to avenge their death! How dare they take out our cooking staff! I liked their gruel!" Ducking, rolling, he reached a table and unloaded what ammo his had left. |
"DAMN YOU!!" Mike yelled as he tackled an Elite, surprising it and blasting a few holes in its unprotected head with his battle rifle. He was lucky enough that it hadn't noticed him or else he would have been dead. He took out his shotgun and took cover, ready to take out the rest in a second.
|
Chris ran in from the chaos of the hangar, breathlessly kicking over a steel table and yelling over the gunfire
Sir! I checked the ship's status on the hangar console, they're soudning for total evacuation and the bridge is emptying, he's probably with the captain! |
OOC: I hate to be patronizing and a purist, but the Master Chief never boarded a Pelican while on the POA during the Covenant attack. He did board a lifeboat, but that was when almost every marine and crewmember had evacuated the ship. Anyway...
BIC: Billy dove behind a tabe as needles bounced off of it, then he came up, shotgun locked and loaded. "Today on the menu is a serving of pain, with a side dish of blood loss!" he yelled as he felled an Elite with a shotgun blast, then took out a horde of grunts with one of his frag genades. |
OOC: All right, at this point, the Master Chief would probably be just leaving the bridge.
|
Joel ran to the ckithen with the others. Joel got behin a table and once again took his time aiming. Joel now only had one clip left which he wanted to save for later so he just stayed behid the table and hit anything that tried to get closer with the handle of his sniper rifle.
|
Jimmy fired the last few round in his MA5B into one of the Elites, killing it outright. He cursed and slung the assult rifle over his shoulder and quickly dispensed of a grunt with his pistol before ducking behind the table as needler rounds pattered against the cold steel surface. "Sir, would all the dropships be gone by now? I was just thinking that if that's the case, we should probably be heading for the lifeboats"
Jimmy watched as a grunt lept over the table "oh you ugly little bastard" He quickly brought his pistol down on the grunt's head cracking its skull open causing blue blood to ooze from the re-breather over its mouth |
Joel saw a grunt jumping on him and quickly disposed of it with his knife after hitting it with the handle of his rifle.
|
Thank God for buckshot, Paul thought as he capped multiple Grunts with one shot from the shotgun.
|
"Sir shouldn't we trie to get to the lifeboats?" Joel yelled. He had grown tired of taking out enemies with his knife besides his rifle or pistol.
|
"God damn it men! I'm the CO, and I make the decisions! All you yellow bellies fire your weapons!" That when he noticed one keeping his ammo to himself. "Do you have a seein' problem!?" He was about to say defend himself, but Markez cut him off, "Remind me to kill you later. You have no reason to hold back you sympathizer to the enemy! I wou;dn't be surprised to see blue blood in your body!"
"Hey look! A Mk. V!" Markez popped his head out from the table, "Master Chief sir! We're in a mess! We could use your help." "You got it..." His deep voice came through the fire, like an angel on the battlefield. "I got you covered. Get to a lifeboat." "You heard the Master Chief! Everyone to a Lifeboat! If you get the chance, get to the armory and relod your weapons! Move you yellow bellies!!" And he started making his run for a lifepod. |
John loaded the last clip to his pistól and started to move towards the armory. In the way to the armory he encountered too many enemies and he wasted all his pistol ammo too soon and dessided to head straight to the lifepods. On his way he grabbed some ammo to his pistol and to his rifle from the dead, though he had not wasted too much of his sniper rifle ammo. Joel was one of the last to head towards the lifepods cause of his little failed sidetrip to the armory.
|
Calvin slammed his Warthog into and elite and ran it over. He then saw everyone going to the life boats "Oy!" he said with a frustraited tone "Don't tell be I have to abandon this thing!" he said as he pointed to the Warthog.
|
Billy was about to head to the lifeboats when his radio crackled
"Attention all Helljumpers this is Major Silva. Report to the waiting room! We're getting off this ship the only way we know how" Billy yelled to Lt. Rickz "Sir! I'm a helljumper, and I've been ordered to get off of here and head down feet first! You guys get to the lifeboats, I'll see you on Halo." *** Billy reached the area of the ship dubbed "Hell's waiting room". He noticed almost all of the ODST HEV pods had been launched. Fortunately, his HEV pod was still there. Unfortunately, a Gold Elite was blocking his path. The Elite ignaited his plasma sword and charged at Billy. With instinctual reflexes that gave definition to his nickname, Billy drew his plasma sword and blocked the Elite's first strike. The Elite growled in surpirse at seeing a human carrying his weapon; that growl turned to a scream of pain as Billy ran the elite through with the plasma blade. As the elite crumpled he let out a solitary word in English. "Infidelllll......" "Wrong...the name is Wolf." Billy spat as the elite bled to death on the floor. Billy jumped into his HEV pod, activated it's preprogrammed landing sequence, and was launched into space. OOC: I know one of the other charcters is a Helljumper, I just can't remember who. But basically he should leave the ship in the same fashion...unless he can't reach a HEV pod. |
ooc: That would be me.
ic: After hearing the announcement for the Helljumpers, Mike ran as fast as he could to his HEV pod. He managed to make it, and saw a dead Elite on the ground, a gold one at that. He climbed into the pod and activated it, hoping he wasn't going to land on top of more Covenant. |
Jimmy quckly skittered out of the mess hall and made a dash for the armory. He knew ammo would be scarce once they hit halo so knowledge led to action.
He finially reached the armory and looked for a bag of some sort. He grabbed a roll bag and began piling in all the ammo he could fit, along with a small leather satchel containing weapon maintainance tools. after the bag was filled, he slammed another clip into his assult rifle and made a dash for the lifepods. |
ooc: hope you weren't talkin' to me
Chris snapped in his last clip into his battle rifle, falling in behind the lieutenant and tossing a frag into the crowd of grunts opposite the Master Chief, hoping to help cover the escape of the rest of his squad FIRE IN THE HOLE! He cut hard around a corner behind a squadmate, Jimmy, he remembered, and followed him into the armory. No words were exchanged as he stocked up on ammo for his battle rifle and S2, filling a backpack with clips and refilling his grenade belt. He ejected the half spent clip from his Mk.II and slipped in the last clean one on the shelf, and dashed after Jimmy to the lifepods |
Joel reached the lifepods and saw a few elites on the way. He quickly disposed of the elites with a granade and made it to the lifepods. He got to one of the lifepods.
|
There wasn't much time left until all the pods were gone. He got to the armory, picked up as many rocket cases as he could carry, filled up his pistol, then made a dash for the pods. Stopping at the end of the hallway, he directed traffic for all the marines abandoning, "C'mon! You all have heard the captain! Move it, move it, move it! Move like you're momma's on the other side! If you ain't in a pod soon, we're leavin' without ya!!"
|
Joel left with his pod. He didn't like the pods too much...actually he didn't like flying at all...
|
Chris rushed into one of the lifeboats, securing himself with the rest of his squad.
|
Jason followed the rest of his squad through the kitchen and to the armory, taking down Covenant troops along the way. He had spent nearly all of his pistol ammo. When he reached the armory he followed the lead of other members and snatched up a backpack and stuffed it full of clips. He also took a tripod for his sniper rifle and a small, foam pad that could be rolled up and clipped to the top of the pack. Satisfied that he had enough ammo to take out a large force of covenant, he also filled another pack with grenades, since many of his squadmates had neglected it in favor of ammunition.
When he finally reached a lifeboat almost his entire squad had already secured themselves inside. ooc:I had to play a bit of catchup, as I was indisposed over the weekend. |
Joel was waiting in the lifeboat for the others hwo started to appear one by one.
|
"All right!" Markez ran to a lifepod and sat himself down, strapping himself in, "Hit it!"
"Aye sir!" The tech came from the front. There was a moment pause until the ship blasted its way through an open door, and into space. The giant plasma weapons were beating in the Autumn's hull, which was still, for some reason, in tact. "Getting away to mimimal safe distance..." "Aw... We're screwed man!" A worried marine shouted through the noise. "Shut up! What are you? A marine or a mouse?" Markez beat him in voice. "Yes sir..." His nervous voice answered. "I'm a marine sir..." "Damn right you are!" The ship all of a sudden got really hot, and hit a major amout of turbulance. "Hitting the ground in five!" The pilot said. Markez counted to himself. When he hit five, the ship stopped suddenly, crashing into fresh dirt. "Everyone ok?" When he got no response, he undid his buckle and stood up, "Pile out Marines!" The door was forced open and Markez lead the troops out onto Halo. OOC: If you want to be on another pod, go for it. |
As Billy's HEV pod fell through Halo's atmosphere, he checked his equipment. The extra ammo he stored for his shotgun and pistol were intact, but he regretted not bringing along any more frag grenades. He did pick up a couple plasma grenades though off a fallen elite before leaving, so he felt confident he could handle larger groups easily.
The pod's internal tempuratures reached over 100 degrees as the HEV burned through the last remainnig layers of the upper atmosphere. Once at an altitude of 15000 feet, the pod's parachute deployed. Billy noted on his GPS map that he had fallen far off course, probably due to his lateness of departure. He also noticed his descent speed was a little fast, a fact confirmed by the hard, jolting landing of his pod on the surface of Halo. As the pod ground to a halt, Billy checked himself for injuries. Finding none, he cracked open the pod and got out. Looking around, he spotted a lifeboat with marines coming out of it. Looking through his pistol scope, he saw Lt. Rickz was leading them. Well, might as well join up with them until we can find a base. Billy thought as he started walking towards them. |
Jason climbed out of the lifepod immediately behind the Lieutenant. He checked his packages, and found that everything was intact. He put the pack full of grenades on the ground next to the lifeboat, and unslung his sniper rifle. He quickly scanned the surrounding area.
"No enemy contacts nearby, sir," he reported as he swept the landscape. He spotted the HEV pod to the east of their position. "Helljumper pod almost due east from our position, sir." He lowered the sniper rifle and looked up in the sky. Multiple pods streaked across the bright sky. He flipped his sunglasses down, and tried to track some of them, but they disappeared over the horizon. Bringing his rifle to bear again, he continually swept the area until Lt. Ricsk issued further orders. |
Billy had now reached the lifeboat's landing site. He walked up to the Leuitenant.
"Leuitenant, Sergeant Billy Wolfram here." he said saluting. "I fought alongside you on the POA. My HEV got knocked off course so I'm separted from the rest of the Helljumpers. Mind if I tag along? You're going to need an extra gun in a hostile environment like this." |
Calvin drove his Warthog into a lifeboat and launched off to the landing site. he hit the ground and hit a tree with a crash. "Dammit!" he said as he tried to drive the Warthog out. After some struggleing, he got it out of the trashed life boat and drove to the group with some marines running out after him.
|
Joel got out of the lifeboat and also immidiatly started scanning the area with his sniper riflr for hostiles, but didn't see any so he put the rifle back on his back. "Damn I hate flying" He said as he was still a little stunned by the "landing". He now reloaded his weapons and saw a HellJumper just reporting to the Liutanent and a WartHog driving towards them.
|
"No problem. Just make sure you do everything I say." Markez turned around and saw a single Warthog driving up, "I don't supposed you brought enough for the whole class?" He didn't wait for an answer, jumping into the standing gunner position. It felt good to get one of these in his hands. "Get in! Everyone else, make sure you keep up!" He leaned down to the driver so that only he could hear the order, "Make sure you drive so they can keep up. As much as I like to see them sweat, we have to try and stay together. Who the hell knows what's on this ring." He stood back up, "We'll drive until we find something that looks like shelter, then I'll try and get in touch with the captain. Move it!"
|
Billy leapt into the passenger side seat as the Warthog began to move. he drew his shotgun.
Let's see if the Covies are going to come out and play. he thought as he scanned the area with his eyes. |
ooc: Hey, that's my seat!
Shoot Thought Chris, seeing the stray Helljumper hop into the passenger side of the Warthog. That's what he did best, but he'd get over it. Sp'ose his trip down was a little more intense than mine, anyways, I do like a nice jog every now and then... he mused, falling in with the rest of the Marines. -New chapter, MC? |
Jason groaned inwardly at the thought of a jog after the fight on the Autumn and then the rough ride down. He slung his rifle on his back again, but drew his pistol. He wasn't about to be unprepared if they were ambushed. Shouldering the satchel of grenades again, he made a mental note to have the LT distribute them or otherwise take them off his hands when they found a place to set up a base. After that his attention was split between keeping his feet moving forward and watching for enemy patrols.
|
Jimmy glanced around at his surroundings, quite honestly amazed. He shook his head and concentrated on searching out enemies again. The land around them was uneasily tranquil. It was at the very least unsettling to Jimmy if not downright terrifying. He glanced around, pondering to himself wow this can only get worse
|
Mike's drop was surprisingly longer than he thought, meaning he was off course. He just hoped he would probably land somewhere near Sergeant Wolf, who was probably the person who left right before him. When he did landed, he noted his surroundings were more hospitable than normal, but he dismissed the thought as he saw a group of Warthogs heading in his direction. He found a com channel that seemed to have alot of chatter, and guessed it was the right unit. "Corporal Mike Owens here, my HEV pod landed alot more off course than I thought. I could use a ride," he said, hoping for a response.
|
Chris picked up some of the chatter on his Comm unit
This is Corporal Mike Owens... Owens? He thought His mind flashed to the firefight on the POA Hey... He turned to the marine next to him, Jimmy Onea' the Helljumpers we were fightin' with, he got down alright. Hell, any good news is welcome right now, ain't it? |
Jimmy nodded "God ain't that the truth. Listen, ask him where the hell he is, we need all the damn firepower we can get at the moment" He glances up at the sky and shakes his head, seeing the upper half of Halo "Now that is a sight I'll never get used to or forget"
|
Joel was running behind the Warthog and he took out his pistol. He also wanted to be prepared for anything. "Man...I dodn't like running too much. But I guess I don't have a choice..."
|
Chris spoke into his mike
Corporal Owens, This is PFC Chris Glover with the (What's our unit name?), we fought together on the Pillar, what's your location? |
"Owens.....this is....Glover......what's.....location," said a very staticky voice over the comm unit.
"I'm on a hill about five miles ahead of you. I can see your unit from here," he replied as he found a good spot to hide temporarily. |
Chris thought he saw a small flash of reflecting sunlight atop the hill CPL Owens talked about, and responded
Sounds good, stay put and we'll rendevouz ASAP, over and out He got on the squad's internal frequency, calling up the lieutenant Sir, this is PFC Glover, I've been picking up chatter, another helljumper laned near here, sir |
Calvin keapt his Warthog at a minimum speed as he scanned the horizon and nearby shrubbery for any signs of the enemy. "Nothing yet............." he said the he looked around. Suddenly, something ahead caught his attention.
|
OOC: OK time to whip out the ol' Thread Defibulator. CLEAR! *BZZZZZZT*
IC: Jimmy had seen movement as well. He raised his Assult Rifle a bit "Dammit I hope thats friendly" |
Owens?
Chris spoke aloud, hoping he was right, still with his rifle raised |
"Yeah, it's me, so DON'T SHOOT!" he yelled as he jumped out from his hiding spot and into a Warthog.
|
Jimmy let out a sigh of relief and lowered his weapon "dammit we've been here what? Five minutes and already its too damn tense for my liking. I just wish those covenant bastards would show themselves so theres no more speculation of a friggin suprise attack" he glanced up at Owens and smiled "anyway how was your trip down man?"
|
"Just a normal trip. Only difference is the surroundings. No, bodies, no plasma fire, no explosions. It just isn't right. And do you have any ammo for a shotgun and a rifle? I'm running low," he said. He didn't feel right with such small amounts of ammo and supplies, but he had been in worse. Only problem with this place was that they would be staying here for a while longer than a normal drop.
|
Jimmy pulled the bag of ammo he had collected on the POA and handed it to Owens "take a rummage through there. You should find what you need. Just don't take too much, we gotta make it last"
|
"Thanks," he said as he took the bad and took three rifle clips and fifteen shotgun shells. "Hope that isn't too much," he said.
|
Joel was scanning the area with his sniper rifle, but he saw nothing. "So...are we gonna continue our little run?"
|
Calvin hit his steering wheel angrily "dammit!" he exclaimed "i'm sick of waiting, but if we move, theres a good chance we'll be driving into a trap!".
