Devil Arms: Sign-Up
Devil hunting is a very interesting business. Everyone in the industry can basically be placed into two groups: Avengers or thrill seekers.
Avengers are those of us you started to do this work because some devil or another killed someone important to us. They tend to start out pretty young…I say this because older people who have a loved one killed by a demon will often go after right away, and end up demon bait, or do some research and hire a devil hunter to take care of it for them. However, children who witness this happening will tend to, in one way or another, find someone to teach them the business. Some find the devil they’re looking for and exact their revenge, while others spend their entire careers without finding a single clue. Most avengers stick to the job because, let’s face it, spending your childhood learning how to fight demons doesn’t exactly bring along a bunch of marketable skills. Then you have your thrill seekers. I suppose it’s just human nature. After all, since time immemorial mankind has traveled far and wide to kill the biggest thing you can find. Devil hunting is big game hunting on steroids: Nothing will impress your hunting buddies like a Blade’s head on the wall. Thrill seekers tend to enter the business later in their lives than avengers, and are usually more…shall we say…”well to do”. They have the money to buy the training and the weapons they need to become successful hunters. Well, at least the smart ones will get the training. The idiots will just shoot a marionette in the head. expecting it to die, and end up finely sliced pieces. Me? I fall into the avenger category. What can I say? Coming home from school one day to see your parents getting killed by something you didn’t know existed either turns you into a driven individual, or shatters your little mind to pieces. I like to think the former happened to me, but I’m sure my sister will insist it was the latter. Anyways, long story short, the two of us found someone willing to train a few young kids with a bone to pick (for a fee, of course), we tracked it down, and killed it. Barely. I tell you what, nothing hurts the ego like winning by the skin of your teeth against something you trained your entire life to kill. Well, I mean…sure, having the thing kill us probably would of hurt the ego more, but we’d be dead, and would, therefore, not care. So…yeah. But in the end, it paid off. We got extremely lucky, and scored some Devil Arms. What’s a Devil Arm? It’s…kinda hard to explain. A devil arm is basically a weapon that comes from the essence of a devil. Or, at one point or another, the weapon was a demon. How devils into weapons is unknown. Sometimes, just defeating a devil will making it turn…and in some cases, they were imprisoned in their weapon form. I dunno. There’s people who have hunted devils for decades, and they never find a devil arm. What makes them so special? Well, I can tell you this: it definitely gives you an edge. Devils for the most part are pretty resilient to human weapons. Heck, even stuff like grenade launchers take a few hits before some devils even notice they’ve been hit. Devil arms, on the other hand, are a different story. They hurt, and hurt bad. One skilled hunter with a devil arm can clear a room of minor demons in a lot less time it would take the same hunter to do it with conventional weapons. Some even say you can use devil arms to fight higher demons…but those are out of my pay grade, thank goodness. You can bet I wouldn’t go near a Phantom, even if I had a small army of devil arm wielding hunters behind me. Yeah…just because I have a devil arm doesn’t make me invincible. Very few hunters will take on higher demons. In fact, the only one that comes to mind right off the top of my head is Dante. But, then again, being the son of Sparda gives you a bunch of advantages over us mere mortals. There’s a reason why Dante has one of the biggest devil arm collections on the earth. I mean, how many does he have? Six? Seven? Who the heck knows. But that’s okay. I get impaled a lot less often than he does. But other than Dante, there’s a few of us out there with devil arms. We ply the middle ground…take the jobs that Dante declares too boring and that other hunters consider too dangerous. I suppose if you got enough of us together, we might be able to take down a higher devil or two. I’d hate to see the body count in those fights, though. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I must get going…I’ve got a job. The headmaster at some girl’s school hired us out. A demon. At a girl’s school. Man, I swear, if it ends up being some sort of tentacle demon, I’m going to commit seppuku right then and there… ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to my Devil Arms RP. In case you missed my interest thread, haven’t played Devil May Cry, or didn’t read the above, a devil arm is a weapon that is made out of the essence/soul/whatever of a demon. In the DMC games, Devil Arms either demons who were imprisoned in their weapon forms, or weapons made from the essence of defeated higher demons (ie: bosses). As the title may imply, you will be playing a devil hunter that, through luck, skill, or what have you, is in possession of one of these weapons. NOTE: All characters will be humans, or mostly humans. If you must have some demonic blood in you, it’s going to very limited, as all demons outside of Sparda were banished from the world 2000 years ago. It won’t be enough blood to make you superior to straight human PC characters. NO, YOU CANNOT BE A HALF DEMON, don’t even ask. La la la la la la la I’m not listening… Depending on how many people sign-up, I’m may have to set a size limit for this…it ain’t exactly made for a large scale party. We’ll cross that bridge when it comes, but I just wanted to let you guys know ahead of time that everyone might not get in on this. Again, depending on how many people sign-up. Alright, now the part you’ve all been waiting for: Name: Obvious. Gender: Should be obvious Age: If you can’t figure this out, how’d you get on the internets? Appearance: What your character looks like. Bio/Background/Whatever: Your description of the character. How’d they get into the devil hunting business? How’d they get their devil arm? Devil Arm Name: The name of your devil arm. Weapon Type: What kind of weapon is your arm? Devil arms can be basically anything, but please try not to go overboard. Element: The element you’re weapon is. I’m still deciding on whether or not elements will come into the gameplay, but I’m including this in the meanwhile so to limit the weapon to one element. If you don’t want you’re weapon to be any particular element, the description you want is “magic” (ie: Rebellion in the DMC games). Description: Describe what the thing looks like. Skills: The stuff you can do with your devil arm. Just the stuff you can think of. I plan on being somewhat lenient on the number of abilities you have, but don’t go cross-element (no, your fire-sword cannot shoot ice-beams), or overpowered (I don’t care if you pulled the scythe from the hand of Death himself, SUPA-INSTANT-KILL-DEMON-BREAKA is not an acceptable skill). Basically, if a skill you think of later works reasonable well with what you write down here, go ahead and do it. If I don’t like it, I’ll ask you to not do it again. Random side note: My spellchecker didn’t catch BREAKA! as a misspelled word. Oh, the Engrish… Random Notes (if needed) Want to say something the devil arm that didn’t really fit in any other category? Well, this is the category for you. So, for people who like to copy/paste the character sheet, its: Name: Gender Age: Appearance: Bio/Background/Whatever Devil Arm Name: Weapon Type: Element: Description Skills: Random Notes(if needed): My characters: Name: Brett Thomas Gender: Male Age: 26 Appearance: Brett is pretty tall at 6’3”, but has a slim build. His hair is usually relatively unkempt, but is short enough that it doesn’t really matter to much. Favors loose fitting khakis and a t-shirt. Not really one for style. When fighting with Laccolith, he wears heavy gloves to avoid being burned. Bio/Background/Whatever: Brett’s story is like many in the devil hunting business: when he was young, his family, save for his younger sister, were killed by devils. They were saved by the simple fact that they had missed the bus home from school that day, and thus had to walk home. Brett was the older of the two surviving Thomas siblings by all of two years, but at age 12, he really had no way to care for his sister. Still, he thought himself responsible enough to make the choice for the pair of them to run instead of being separated in foster care. However, they didn’t get very far. A devil hunter who was on the trail of the creature that killed their family, a demon named Laccolith, picked up the pair, thinking they might be a way to lure the beast into the open. However, as the days passed, it because clear that the Thomas clan was just a random act of violence, and that Laccolith had no ulterior motive for attacking the family. The devil hunter was about to cut the kids loose when Brett begged her to let them come along. As it turns out, this devil hunter had developed a bit of a soft spot for the kids, and informally adopted them. For eight years, she taught the two Thomas siblings all she knew about hunting devils. Until the day they finally caught up with Laccolith. The battle was long and hard. Even with three hunters, and despite the fact that their adoptive mother wielding a devil arm, Laccolith nearly defeated them. Only a desperate gamble with their adoptive mother using her devil arm to hold Laccolith in place allowed the two Thomas siblings to land the killing blows, at the cost of her own life. As it lay dying, Laccolith was apparently suitably impressed with the tenacity of the “mere humans” who killed it, and as such, commended his soul in the form of a devil arm into the hands of Brett. Devil Arm Name: Laccolith Weapon Type: Sword Element: Fire Description: Laccolith appears as a long sword, made out of a bone-white metal, with curious little open-backed bumps on the base of the blade, in the middle of the blade, and near the top, one on each side. However, this “bumps” could accurately be better described as “vents”, which allows streams of fire to burst out from them. Skills: Vent: Streams of flame shoot out of the holes in the blade. In this form, the sword acts as a flame-thrower. Afterburner: A more controlled version of vent, instead of unleash a full torrent of flame, afterburner, much as the name implies, adds force to the swing of the blade, and can be powerful enough to carry Brett a short distance. The downside to this is that it takes long to recover from a swing, but Brett has enough experience with Laccolith that he knows the weaknesses of the blade. Immolation: A more traditional use of Laccolith, the vents allow the sword to become wreathed in flame. Rotating Thrusters: The vents on Laccolith can rotate 360 degrees, allowing Brett to use the skills like Afterburner and Vent in almost any direction he wishes. Note that the vents rotate only in parallel with the sword, but cannot rotate perpendicular to the sword. So while it can shoot flames above, below, front or back, it cannot shoot flames to the side. Why, yes, I have read Zombie Powder. Why do you ask...>_>;; Name: Emily Harkin Gender: Female Age: 24 Appearance: She’s about average height, and wears her black hair in a ponytail. She prefers long jackets, which allow her to wear Hydra without being noticed, and jeans and a t-shirt. Bio/Background/Whatever: See Brett’s history. The major differences are that, after the battle with Laccolith, their adoptive mother entrusted Emily with her devil arm, Hydra, before she died. Out of respect for her, Emily took on her last name, Harkin. Devil Arm Name: Hydra Weapon Type: Chain-and-blade. Element: Magic Description: At first look, Hydra appears to be little more than a kind of shield, stylized in the form of eight dragon-heads radiating out from a central point. However, each of these heads holds a blade inside, and are attached to an amazingly long chain. These blades can float/fly at the whim of their wielder, as can the chains, or be wielded in a more traditional fashion. Emily has added a set of straps to Hydra, and wears it like a backpack. Skills: Chain-arm: When engaged in hand-to-hand combat, Emily can have the chains of Hydra wrap around one or both of her arms, giving her ad-hoc armor, as well as a large blade at the end of each arm. Bind: The blades can wrap the chains around their target, binding it, and holding it in place. Alpha Strike: Much like chain-arm, but instead of wrapping around Emily, the blades and chains wrap around each other, sacrificing mobility and numbers for a single, heavy hitter. Attach: The dragon-heads can tract the blades, and can instead "bite" into their target. While not really damaging, this allows Hydra to attach to almost any kind of surface, and is extremely effective with Bind. If you have any questions, I would prefer that you ask them here instead of over PM, as people often have the same question. However, I’ll be more than glad to answer questions over PM as well. As I said before, I may limit the party size, but it depends on how many people sign-up. Details on how I’ll pick-and-choice will come later, if need be. Alright…go. |
Reserving a spot at the moment, I won't be able to make a character sheet until I get back from work, which could be like 11-12 hours.
EDIT; Just have time to put down the basic premise of my character. Name: Thomas Reese Gender: Male Age: 31 Appearance: 5'10, short dark hair, well muscled and slightly pale complexion. Generally wears dark jeans, heavy boots, a black leather jacket and fingerless gloves. He has a small scar above his left eyebrow. Bio/Background/Whatever: Tom came from an ordinary family like any other. He finished school and went on to college alongside his best friend James at 18. Until then the two had been inseperable and always looked out for one another. But not long after they started their first term a rift began to form between the two. James fell in with the wrong crowd and began meddling with dark magics. Eventually James' "coven" decided to try summoning a demon and when Tom found out he desperately tried to dissuade him from the idea. He was unsuccesful. When the demon rose it instantly slaughtered the reckless group. Tom, who had decided to try and crash the ritual, could only watch as his best friend was killed. The demon itself was quickly killed itself though, as a devil hunter who had been investigating reports of dark magic in the area arrived on the scene and took the monster down, but after that Toms world as he knew it was turned upside down. An intense hatred for demons flared up inside him and he demanded that his saviour, Merrick, take him on and teach him how to fight evil, so that he might rid the world of their kind. Merrick agreed and for 8 years the pair travelled the world battling demons. It was when Tom was 25 that he recovered a Devil Arm from the demon Ixion. The pair had travelled to New York tracking the demon and faced it in several small skirmishes over a about a week, as they attempted repeatedly to kill it. The battle eventually left Merrick and Ixion severly injured and Ixion fled into the sewers to escape. With Merrick unable to continue the fight Tom pursued the demon alone and eventually slayed it beneath the city, burying it and drowning it with a well timed bomb. Even though it was injured it still nearly took his life, but with its death Tom recieved his glaive. Merrick however was not killed during this fight. He lived another year before succumbing to cancer, rather than a demon related death. Since then Tom has travelled alone, killing demons wherever he finds them, hoping that someday he will acheive his impossible goal. Devil Arm Name: Ixion Weapon Type: Glaive Element: Lightning Description: A large silver and blue glaive, comprised of 3 smaller glaive pieces. These pieces can be quickly detached or re-combined with one another. The weapon can either be used for hand to hand combat, but more often is thrown. The flight and movement of all the pieces can be controlled by the wielder, even calling them back to his hand even if they've stopped moving or become inbedded in objects. When utilizing its element it can create chained lightning attacks between the segments. Skills: Thunderblast: When all 3 pieces are together Tom can fire a powerful blast of energy from the weapon. Linkwave: When the glaive is seperated into 2 or more pieces, a beam of electricity can be made to link the pieces together in series, ie, (1)-----(2) or, (1)-----(2)-----(3). Energy Net: Lightning arcs between all 3 pieces, forming a triangular "net" to ensare enemies over a wide area. The lightning attacks are at their weakest in this configuration but cover a greater area to compensate and is effective for taking down large numbers of weaker demons. Depending on how the pieces are positioned (ie, 1 in the ceiling and 2 others in the walls or floor), then Tom can create a barrier through which enemies cannot pass without taking damage. Electric Bomb: After being thrown, Tom can command the weapon to explode with energy, hitting anything near to it. Most powerful attack, but leaves Tom temporarily weaponless. Random Notes(if needed): In addition to Ixion, Tom also carries an M1911 pistol as a sidearm with a Smith & Wesson Model 4006 as a backup kept within his jacket. On his back he wears a 45cm long Kukri blade when on the hunt, another backup weapon. Rides a Harley Davidson. It does not defy gravity, nor does it have rocket boosters. It's just how he travels. |
I may of not shown, or rather posted my interest, but would it be all right if I reserve a spot? I need a good RP right now.
Just in case... Name: Jason Derpian (Der-pee-n) Gender: Male Age: 29 Appearance: Jason, being of the average 5'9", generally would be described as rugged. His hair is fairly long, and horribly messy. His most startling feature is his eyes, which start green in ,the middle, and the ends are a blue-gray. He wears a jacket, sporting a white tee underneath. He always has his trademark jeans as well, with a few small holes, form some tough battles. Around his neck he wears a pendent given to him from his mother and father. Bio/Background/Whatever: Jason grew up in a fairly normal household in his early life. Reaching puberty is when his life began to become, well weird. Through out his teens his mother and father fought demons, and they trained him to be the next in line. He was a quick learner, and within months be slowly started killing a few low class demons. Unfortunately, on his 17th birthday, a demon attacked his town while his family was currently eating dinner. Right before his parents left to do there thing, his mother gave him his birthday present, a pendent. The demon was too powerful, and when Jason got there, he noticed his parents were nearly dead. In a blind rage, he took his fathers weapon, a lance, and pierced the unsuspecting demon's heart, and forced it's soul into the weapon. Right after sealing the demon, he broke now as he watched his parent's final moments. Devil Arm Name: Rexas Weapon Type: Lance Element: Earth Description: His father's lance, the blade being roughly, 2 feet, and the handle 7. On the blade, is an inscription reading, "The Earth will tremble with each swing." The pointis made of an unkown material, but can pierce just about everything. Skills: Encrustment: Covers Jason in an regenerating armor made of hard stone. Greatly slows him down. Imprisonment: Sends a claw made of earth to crab an trap the target on the ground. While trapped, the target cannot do anything unless it can defeat Jason's will. It is usually used right before a finishing blow. Gaia Arrows: Creates a stone javelin for Jason to throw, he create as many as three and launch them all at once. They cannot home. Titan's Fury: Jason slams Rexas into the ground, causing the ground to rupture and explode in a diameter around him of about 20 feet. Using this tires him greatly. Random Notes(if needed): None I hope that covers it. I hope I can join. EDIT: Fixed some things, and spelling. Expect another edit after a while. |
Hello, I'd like to express interest but am still finalising a concept. Expect a profile in the next few days.

Looks interesting. Reserving a spot for my character. Hopefully this time I wont lose my internet out of the blue. Profile soon.
Edit: There we go Name: David Tiydel. Gender: Male Age: 28 Appearance: Just shy of 6'ft tall, David has long, dark red hair that hangs down to just above his shoulders. His eyes are a steely cross between Green and Blue, varying with the level of light around. He normally wears Jeans and T-shirts, covered by a light grey jacket. He has a nasty scar along his left cheek, just low enough that if you aren't looking directly at him you wont see it. He covers up the other results of several nasty encounters. Bio/Background/Whatever: David was a fairly ordinary teenager. Which is to say, he was an idiot. He and his friends did the sort of things you would expect of a gang that age, even if he was the traditional quiet and reserved member. By some hand of fate they never did anything truly illegal, but that was only because they became aware of something far more interesting. The occult. At first it was just an interesting distraction, the odd story or picture. But slowly the subject captivated the group, and they dug deeper and deeper. More and more of this strange underworld became uncovered. They heard tales of Demons, legends of Sparda, rumours of Dante, and fearful whispers of Demon King. And they still wanted more. Slowly they came into contact with magic and power, and began experimenting. It wasn't long before someone suggested they summon a minor demon, something they could control, something that could give them even more power. David, already nervous about what they were doing, was frightened by the idea, and flat out refused. His attempts to dissuade the others fell on deaf ears however and he stormed out angrily when they called him a coward. He did not return. A few days later he was told they had all been found brutally murdered at their summoning site. Shaken to his core and distressed over the deaths of his friends, David retreated into himself, unwilling or unable to talk or show the slightest sign of life. That lasted until a demon hunter showed up, having tracked him down as the last surviving man who could tell him what demon had been summoned. The hunter, named Drasco, managed to snap David out of his state and ask for information. With the information he managed to provide, Drasco was able to identify the Demon summoned and locate it. He went to confront it, David following after him without his knowledge. The fight was a tough one. Maybe the ritual was botched, or maybe the summoners had just had no idea what they were doing, but the Demon was powerful. Drasco was nearly killed, though David managed to distract it long enough for the hunter to gain the upper hand and finally kill the beast. It was during this that David received the scar along his cheek, barely managing to dodge an attack the Demon had thrown at him. Something changed in David that night. Fighting against the demon and coming so close to death, something primal had awoken within him. And he liked it. Wanting to get the feeling again he begged Drasco to train him, to make him into a Demon Hunter. The hunter was reluctant, but eventually gave in. And so David's training began. Years later David was part of a group of hunters who went against a powerful Demon, alongside his mentor. Though they were eventually successful in vanquishing it, many of the group were killed. The demon was impressed by David's ferocity in combat however, and granted him his essence as a Devil arm, taking the form of the gauntlet Tonare It wasn't long afterwards that Drasco retired from Devil hunting, a rare accomplishment. As he and David parted ways he warned David that his passion for battle was dangerous, and if he didn't control it it would kill him. David merely shrugged and left. Since then he's been taking standard Demon hunting jobs, either solo or in a group. Devil Arm Name: Tonare Weapon Type: Gauntlet Element: Lightning Description: Seemingly made of blue metal, the Tonare fully encases it's users palm, it's base trailing into four separate lengths that curl around the users wrist. Each finger is protected by chain mail, tipped by pure metal casings. In the centre of the palm is a small indent surrounded by engraved runes which glow whenever the gauntlets power is used. Skills: Lightning chain – The Tonare creates a chain made of lighting, generated from the centre of it's palm. Said chain can extend to about 30 meters in length. The user has a limited control of where it will go, and it's extension/retraction. Electric scythe – The gauntlet becomes energised with electricity, it's fingers becoming sharp claws and electrifying anything that touches it which isn't the user. Storm's fury – The bindings around the users wrist burrow into his/her flesh, allowing the Tonare's power to flow directly into the users body, temporarily boosting muscle power and reflexes to super human proportions, while granting him/her a full on lightning aura. WARNING: This ability is only to be used as a last resort. Extended use of this power will result in the users death. |
Count me in! I never played any DMC game(I have a PC only :'( ) but I know what it's about so it shouldn't be a problem. Profile will come up later.

Whee, I missed the Paradox RP, so I don't intend to miss this one.
Placeholdah! Edit: I think I'm mostly done. Maybe I should get some sleep now. Name: Mordecai Kerinos Gender: Male Age: 21 Appearance: 5'8, 120lbs. Mid-length black hair in a somewhat 'spiky' fashion, somewhat unruly. Strands of hair tend to fall into the face. Brown eyes. Wears specially made glasses (Meant to cut the glare from light reflected off of ice and the such). Caucasian in skin tone. Slender yet average build. Wears a white long-sleeved jacket, white sweatpants, white gloves, and white shoes. The gloves and the shoes are made for grip in wintry conditions (To prevent slipping, mostly, which would ruin his largest advantage). Bio/Background/Whatever: The loner. The bookworm. The nerd. Once a teenager whose typical day involved typing and clicking away at a laptop, everything changed on one certain night. It was one of those rare nights where he felt restless, the kind that didn't go away after a bout of pacing. Eventually, he decided that a walk in the nearby park or something would be just the thing to assuage it. Maybe he could pick up a pizza or something along the way. It was a moonless night and the sky was covered by dark storm clouds. That didn't bother him; he had always liked storms. A few seconds later and a downpour began. He hadn't even reached the park when it happened. The first indication was that the rain began getting colder, to the point where it became sleet, then hail. This was puzzling, as it was a summer night. While most people might've been creeped out by now, it wasn't until something else hit him from above that he truly comprehended that this was a bad place to be. It was blood. Wildly backpedaling away from the perceived source of it, he saw a man fighting with some kind of cat-looking creature with two tails. The blood was the man's but it was naught but a flesh wound who was in the process of gunning down the weakened cat demon. He let out a kind of scream at this sight, and the demon hunter involuntarily looked away from the beast he was shooting at. Unfortunately, his furry foe quickly took advantage of his distraction. He kept running, now. In the opposite direction, towards where the ill-fated hunter being devoured. The teenager grabbed the gun that the hunter had dropped and started blasting away. Fortunately for him, the demon was both weakened and distracted. Otherwise, things would have ended a lot differently. However, as things did happen, the demon was slain, but not before the demon hunter had been killed. He took both the Devil Arms produced and the gun and ran home. A few days later, he had thought of using the internet to try and find out what the heck was going on. Most of the sites were just created by some people who severely needed hobbies. However, he did find one that happened to be a legit internet forum for demon hunters. Thus, began his new life. He even took a new name, Mordecai Kerinos, a name he had used for video game characters, as his own. The gun was a bit of a problem to Mordecai. It could be useful, he knew, as it had killed at least one demon before. It brought up too many painful memories to be used in combat again. He ended up storing it, never planning to get rid of it or use it ever again, as an 'oath' of sorts. He would continue the work of the man who was now dead only because of him. He owed that, at the very least, to him. Devil Arm Name: Nekomata Weapon Type: Knives Element: Ice Description: Two identical knives, with a slight curve to them, a shape suggestive of a cat's fang. Very sharp, very light and easy to swing, and made of a hard material that will pierce most things. They are the color of snow and are about 12 inches long. They are always cold to the touch, even if placed in direct sunlight, an oven, etc. (He's tried, immediately after the incident.) Skills: Instant Ice: The ability to coat objects in ice; it's useful for ice slicks, to ice something shut, etc. Glacial Guard: A defensive move encasing the target in ice to shield against an attack. Polar Projectile: A shot of ice/cold energy/etc with strength directly proportional to time spent charging the attack. Blizzard Blast: An unbelievably cold gust launched at an enemy, typically to slow them down. Flash Freeze: A finisher, a last resort, an ultimate attack; Think of it as creating some ice statues. However, this requires a great deal of concentration and energy, a decent amount of preparation, and is very visible as the buildup includes a very bright icy-colored light. Random Notes(if needed): When wielded in combat, the knives give off a cold aura, not unlike a frozen mist, that surrounds Mordecai. Not only does this make this difficult to see him, it is very cold and prolonged exposure to it could cause hypothermia. The wielder is also faster than normal and impervious to the freezing mist produced by the weapons. |
And I'm back in general....
Reserving for when I get my concept made up. Name: Amethyst Gender: xx Age: 17 Appearance: She stands around 5'10" with dark black hair nearly as long. Its lengthened because while encased, she likes the look of having it encased in its strands as well. Very little real function, actually. Deep blue eyes, normally bored except when hunting for more power and such. Her outfit consists of short skirts and form-fitting shirts, for the mobility and freedom of movement it allows. She's a bit concerned with appearance, but nothing really other than a fancy. Bio/Background/Whatever: She had an ordinary life, though a bit disturbed in the head. She keeps 'hearing voices' in her head, and most of her family and friends regarded her as insane. While in the beginning it was classified as being typical 'imaginary friends' she was seeing, soon after she revealed to her family that she had killed a guest they had over, seemingly at the beckoning of these voices, she was kept under heavy watch, then sent to an insane asylum. She was only 9 at the time, and didn't know better at first. Eventually though after several punishments she learned to not voice out loud what she heard in her head. As she grew older, everything began to come into a more clear light for her, though she never had a real schooling, she figured it was unnecessary. The only problem she thought of, was the 'imprisonment' she was in. So, at one point a few years later, she decided to leave her past life behind her, and go on the run. Unfortunately it was very hard for her to escape, and it was a bloody mess too, having been forced to kill a few in the route to escape to make sure they didn't call her back. Amethyst had no idea where she was going, or why. The voices alone guided her and told her where to go. She was 15 now, it had been two years since she had run away from that place, and indeed had traveled far and wide in her efforts. She never went into care, going into stealing and when necessary, killing, to sustain herself. Maybe that was the reason she was on the move so much, other than her voices that is. Finally, it seemed her voices had led her to the destination she had been hoping to get to, though she didn't yet realize it. It was deep in that forest, hidden in some ancient temple ruins, that she found it. The second she saw the Emerald, she knew that this was what she had been looking for all her life, this was everything she had ever dreamed of. She of course, didn't understand how this was the answer to her problems, but she had the biggest sensation that it just was. Of course, then came the problems. It took many tries and several days to get the hang of it, and a new voice, she assume from the Emerald itself, egged her on. She didn't know whether it was meaning for her to give up, or to keep at it, but she really didn't listen too much. She spent that good while attempting to control it, slowly gaining a way to understand the extra sense that it afforded her. After about one week with only occasional trip to a nearby river for water, the Heart accepted her, having deemed her worthy and also having proven that she really was the heir. This took Amethyst by surprise, but not really too much at the same time. With a vague understanding, and what seemed to her at the time as near god-like powers, she headed back to the town to go raise hell while getting a bite to eat. It was revenge in her eyes as she terrorized the town, not even realizing the Heart had encompassed her and made her appear as some deep black monster. The folk called for help, and were glad all it wanted was to kill a couple and eat ravenously. Well, after a week she was starving, and having people serve her for a change was something she liked. With no idea of the trouble she was in, she continued about as if she ruled the town, and in a way she did for that bit of time. Of course, it was night by the time the hunters got there, and she was asleep, back in her usual state. This threw off the demon hunters terribly, and they talked to her, while she explained that she was a wanderer, leaving out all the killings. They believed her, and she left the furious town with those hunters, escorted a bit. She didn't learn much about specifics, but they talked and told her enough for her to learn that there was a totally different world out there, and that what she considered so grand, was nothing at all. They got another mission that same night, and went off to fight it, her watching. Unfortunately for them, it was a real demon, a decently powerful one too, and it fought them off, easily slaying one, and the other crippled. It then notced her walking to it, pretty upset. She cared about those hunters, it was a strange emotion to her, but she felt somehow, she needed to protect the one left. The demon was actually wounded, unable to move and only able to use its lightning to strike at her with. As great as it was, the beast was stunned when she remained totally unaffected. The hunter watched in amazement as she simply let it strike her again and again, until it finally ran out of thunder to hurl twenty minutes or so later. To Amethyst, it was confusing too, but she quickly figured it out. The magical energy he was throwing, was getting assimilated into the Emerald, its true gift. So when it finally got done, she was giggling like a madman and staring it down. It looked in a sneering confusion, which changed into a realizational horror of what she was doing now. With a single blow containing all the magical energy it had thrown at her, she struck down the beast, but instead of dying normally, its soul got sucked into the Emerald, but she expected that part. The voiced told her it would happen. After the war, the hunter was sitting resting on a tree, on the brink of death, completely overwhelmed by the events. She went over to him, and smiled. He smiled back, unable to speak. And then she said those fateful words. "Don't worry, I'll end your suffering." And with that, she took his own dagger and slit his throat, ransacked his body for stuff and supplies, and a memento to remember him by, and proceeded to leave him for dead. "Rest in peace." That whole episode had shaken her world up, though her voices kept her partly on track. he knew enough that she wanted in on this entire 'demon hunting' business, and set about looking for them. Not that 'she gets called up and handles it', the 'she literally hunts them down, her voices telling her where they somewhat are. The next two years, she's had many adventures, and her life has gotten much more exciting as a whole. She made sure that she's powerful enough to stand on her own in a fight and has even made sure to make her Emeralds transformation pretty. She knows how ordinary hunters act too, having been hunted herself a few times, but not by anybody nearly god enough to beat her. So today, she searches, for the next demon soul to devour, for the next magic to absorb. She's become obsessed with attaining power, its become a game for her. Amethysts methods aren't exactly refined either, when she's a loner that is. Unlike most hunters, she couldn't care less how many innocents get killed. Hell, she might even join the demon in mass killing if it seems fun enough. ((Will think of a way to get her on the team, once I actually understand how the team is banded.)) Devil Arm Name: Heart of the Devil Weapon Type: Transparent Emerald Element: Assimilation Description: A transparent emerald, with a soft glow of red on the inside. veins come about on this, spreading outwards to the edges when in use. It normally turns completely crimson when fully active, and possibly other colors if its currently possessing other things. Its pulsing all the while, and when inactive, seems to have no end to how deep it goes. Skills: Absorb: It is capable of taking into itself, most anything of magical nature really. This also allows redirection in various ways. It keeps a fraction of the energy and binds it to itself, slowly growing and evolving over time. Siphon: Siphons the souls of the Devils, and other beings slain into itself. It uses the power from this to transform into a completely blackened embodiment of itself, typically larger. Normally her body rests inside this incarnation, allowing her to function from inside it, being in it mostly for her own personal protection. Heart Control: The magic the heart gives off is essentially a sixth sense. It extends around her, allowing her to interact with other things in various ways, from gently holding to crushing to directly piercing, and so on. Can be charged with different energy types, provided by excess energy stored in her heart or faint traces allowed by its slow evolution. Random side note: My spellchecker didn’t catch BREAKA! as a misspelled word. Oh, the Engrish… *Kept for fun* *Also, my spellcheck reads -didn't- as wrong spelling.* Random Notes: Its the heart of a devil, her great ancestor. ((You gave me the idea to have one by mentioning it so clearly)) |
As silly as "I'm a traditional ninja" may be, DMC has never taken it's seriously. I mean, rocket bikes and giant bazookas? The only thing that Kalina Anne could have had to be "Even cooler" would have been a chainsaw.
Name: Yukari Shimizu Gender: Female Age: 21 Appearance: Feathery short black hair and brown eyes, Yukari wears loose-fitting shorts and a t-shirt in blacks and reds, for maximum mobility. Small and built for agility, Yukari isn't large, nor does she wear any heavy "armor". While normally inadvisable for general combat, demons are quite effective at circumventing human defensive measures in the best of cases. Bio/Background/Whatever: Yukari's family has always been, to say the least, "traditional". They lived in the country, her father was a hard-working white-collar man for a telecommunications corporation, and her mother a faithful housewife. Her elderly and ascetic grandfather lived with them, and, with Yukari as an only child, the quartet lived quite harmoniously. That's not to say they didn't have their quirks. Though Yukari's grandfather was considered old and somewhat senile, he was quite respected, especially by the young girl. Deeply spiritual, her grandfather was a practicioner of Shugendo, an ascetic path to spiritual enlightenment. Claiming to follow in the footsteps of the ancient Yamabushi, whom he claimed some of their ancestors were also, the man was a wise and talented elder. He had studied many forms of enlightenment, including many of the martial arts. Naturally intrigued, Yukari studied under him for several years, at first out of respect, and then out of genuine wish to learn. Along the way, she learned of many supernatural creatures both real and imagined, how they functioned, what could drive them off and the like. It was all rather interesting, though in retrospect the majority of it was most likely useless. She had learned that the Yamabushi were often associated with the Tengu, birdlike demons whom, in their more favorable aspect, could be seen as beneviolent protectors... But most likely not. She never really believed her grandfather's panderings that they might be distantly related to something so silly. Well, that was until he was murdered. Most people don't murder other people and then tie their mutilated body to a tree. By this point, Yukari didn't care what the thing was called, whatever it was, it had to die. Nobody actually saw what happened to him, investigations went poorly, no leads were found, and nobody even suspected that he could have been murdered by something... inhuman. Except Yukari, but who was going to believe her? Regardless, she went out for weeks searching the surrounding countryside, in woodlands, on hilltops... She was always alone, armed only with a pair of knives and a determined spirit. She found nothing, yet every minute of the search she was being watched by the most inconspicuous of creatures... Eventually it attacked her. "It", because it was rather difficult to tell just what "it" was. In her brief recollection of the battle, it was a bird, it was a woman, it was several birds, and then it was gone. Whatever it was, it was very, very fast. It had said some things to her, but she didn't listen to them, believing it was simply meant to taunt her or make her do something foolish. The fight was all over very quickly, and by all accounts she shouldn't have survived. Afterward, she realised it had already been wounded, presumably by her late grandfather, and her victory was a combination of a lucky strike and her enemy's own overconfidence. Understanding it's defeat, the demon yielded it's dying form to the girl as a pair of fans she has since named "Kamikaze", or divine wind. A suitably redeeming title for a weapon origionally used for evil. She's never really left the business since. It doesn't feel right to just leave people in the situation she was in before. Devil Arm Name: Kamikaze Weapon Type: Pair of Fans Element: Wind Description: The weapon is a pair of metal-tined folding fans, made from raven feathers. They are moderately effective in melee employed like knives or claws. Skills: Invisible Blades: While not actually invisible, when swung Kamikaze creates a number of directional high pressure air zones that function similiarly to limitedly-homing thrown knives. Fast but individually weak, these can be chained together for devestating combos. Microburst: Swung together in a dash, Kamikaze can wrap the weilder in a whirlwind of cutting air, propelling the user at a target with great force. Enmity's Curtain: Swung apart, Kamikaze creates a passive cyclonic formation of aerial blades that enshroud the wielder. Generally defensive or for crowd control, the attack works both ways but is not thick enough that escape is impossible. Air Hike: Allows Yukari to jump once while already in the air. A property of a number of devil's arms focusing on mobility. Sky Star: Hand in hand with the above, this gives Yukari limited lateral aerial manverability. |
