Cut people. I can provide a list for you, if you want.

Meh...you're probably right. It will be easier in the long run.

I'll wait until the place-holders are filled, then I'll start figuring out cuts.

I know we’re beating down physics left and right here, but we have to leave it some dignity. I’m not saying that it can’t work as a shield, or that it can’t be hard to move, but it’s a little unbalanced to say that if a 100 foot long dragon-plant-lady flies into my 5 foot shield, it doesn’t budge an inch. You get what I’m trying to say? There has to be a line between “My shield has good defense” and “I hide behind my shield and now nothing can effectively touch me.” I know that isn’t what you’re saying, but I just want to eliminate that possibility before it occurs.

The shield is actually of about 1ft radius, so it shouldn't be a problem for a 100ft dragon-plant-lady to attack around...

I get the point. But don't really see a reason why it cannot be "immoveable". As far as I know, weaker foes won't have the means to move it anyway, while big ones will simply have other things to do than moving a shield around(big energy beams and AWESOME explosive attacks!)...

Anyway feel free to nerf the "immoveable" part...

Besides, what happens if your(Tophat) unstoppable bullet hit’s Naqel’s unbreakable shield?

In such a situation GMs usually go in favor of the defending side... :P

The bullet would pass straight through, the shield has not been broken and the bullet has not been stopped. But I nerfed it now anyway, unstoppable was a bad choice of words.

Mauve: Overall concept approved...just get a bio up.

I'll that's all I have time for right now. I'll check up on the rest later.

Well Naq, not everything attacks around something so tiny. If I were a 100ft long Dragon-Plant Lady at speed, bearing down on a man behind a 1ft wide shield, I would think nothing of it. Size wouldn't matter, so long as the shield impacts any part of the target, it would stop the target's kinetic motion entirely. Meta-wise, she doesn't know you have perfect defenses.

Let's consider the implications of that. You're applying the full kinetic force of a 100ft long target as a 1ft wide cone on that target's body. For dramatic effect, the same thing would be achieved by launching a 1ft-wide, 100ft long rod with mass equal to the demon it's striking, at the demon.

Defense trumping offense in a perfect enviroment, and perfect defenses in general flash me back to Exalted, and I don't think Toasty wants us unseating the gods in his chronicle...

PS: More constructively, Toasty: While I generally overlook misc items, you wouldn't mind if my character had a camera, right? It occurs to me that demons don't exactly have the same weak points that make fleshy humans so easily killable, and snapping a few shots of them might help determine how to better kill them in the future.

We need a doctor of some sort to examine them.

Why don't we have a doctor?

TDK 08-01-2008 09:38 PM

His devil arm could be a magnifying glass that shows weaknesses and stuff...

Who says it needs to be a weapon?

Edit: Or, or! A stethoscope.

Truce 08-01-2008 09:54 PM

What? No.

I was just pointing out how often demons sustain injuries in Devil May Cry. You could make a fortune providing medical consultation for the all those poor damned souls.

In exalted an perfect defence beats a perfect attack, thats exalted. If an unstoppable force meets an inmovable object, the moving object would bounce off thus both maintain what they are.

If only part of that 100ft demon touched it, it wouldn't negate the momentum unless its center of gravity was directly aimed at that one foot. Otherwise it would pivot there.

Not stating my opinion mind you, just pointing that out.
