Disney's The Princess and the Frog teaser! (Traditional animation; Pixar not invited)

Hopefully by 2009 children won't have been fully programed to accept only CGI and the ones without programing won't be instructed to avoid listening to those grumpy old internet men.

I'm kinda eager for it. Disney's recent forays into 2D animation just sucked, yet this movie has been called as the "revival of the Old Disney" by many sources. As long as it's in Lilo & Stitch and not Home on the Range levels of quality I'll be content.

Wait.

Wait.

Disney is animating something that isn't a sequel?

Going off of the trailer, it animation quality looks good...dare I say I have some hope for this?

Is it going to theaters, or straight to DVD? I can't see if it says anywhere on the site, but it looks theater quality to me.

Regulus Tera 07-30-2008 02:08 AM

It's going to the theatres, yes. Disney apparently wants to prove they still have some of the magic of the twentieth century. I approve, for one.

Toastburner B 07-30-2008 02:13 AM

...I'm trying to keep myself limited to cautious optimism, but honestly? I'm thrilled that is tackling something beyond the straight-to-DVD dribble they've been cranking out as of late. Hopefully this works out.

What Toastburner and Regulus Tera said.

I'm skeptical but optimistic. I've gotten so sick of Hunchback of Notre Dame 4: Quasi Saves The World, but if this really is Old School Disney, they've got my eight bucks already.

Or is it ten? Nine? I forget, I didn't buy my Dark Knight tickets.

EVILNess 07-30-2008 02:33 AM

"How about a nice firm handshake?"

Okay, going to see it.

CelesJessa 07-30-2008 06:30 AM

wOOt. I've been looking forward to this since I heard about it in production.

And I am thrilled at the 2-D animations. They make me weep with joy. We can only pray that this, along with another movie I heard they were working on (Rapunzel), is marking the revival of good Disney.

I will definately be seeing it in theaters.

If I remember right, when Disney acquired Pixar, Pixar more-or-less ended up taking over Disney's animation studios and they declared that Pixar would be doing all the CGI movies for Disney while Disney Animation would go back to school and learn how to make movies like they used to, and they killed the straight-to-video/DVD stuff. Can't remember where I saw it, gonna have to dig around.

Hopefully this is a new beginning for Disney kinda miss them putting good stuff. At least we have had Pixar doing that in the meantime.

Seventeen for the Imax seats plus the online convenience charge.

Oh man I'm surprised. I thought that Disney had no idea how much they sucked now, but apparently they are actually trying to resurrect the old charm. I dunno how this will turn out, but what I can say is that I'm waiting for this with great anticipation.
