WiFi is mentioned in one of the scans, so maybe this will have online. An online, handheld casual MMO sounds fun to me. Apparently there are some new classes too. Release date is December apparently.

Ya think?

Next you'll be telling me it's some kind of Ragnarok game! Like, on the Nintendo DS or something!

I'm pondering how they could handle updates, if there are any at all.

Ryong 07-30-2008 03:12 PM

I'm pondering if this will have some kind of monthly fee.

Writeable data space on the memory probably, if anything...or it might stream ala "shared play" over local WiFi.

Speculation!

I'm a little amused at how the sprites for this, a handheld game, seem to look better than RO itself. I think this will be like a "casual" mmo, like PSO/PSU, for lack of a better term I kind of doubt they'll pull off an entire full on MMO on a handheld.

I could see that working. Basically using the cartridge as the client side while all the server side junk happens on... well... the server.

Maybe ship a little flash HD that connects into the GBA slot to handle the updates. With the ability to connect the HD to an actual computer so you can download the updates at home?

That sounds like a cool idea actually.

Ryong 07-30-2008 05:26 PM

That doesn't seem viable. Cost-wise.
