My PC just became sentient. Send help

Ok so my pc just started doing shit all by itself. At first it was a mere annoyance, as it kept opening my email page and then windows media player (I guess it wanted to stick some music on as it plots the downfall of human kind).

Then it became worse, as it started switching my current webpage back to the homepage, before finally it decided to shut itself down all by itself (maybe even computers need sleep?)

I've started running a virus check but nothing has turned up so far. Anyone know what might've caused it, besides a case of sudden case of self awareness?

Uhm, the ghostbusters, perhaps?

Perhaps its getting some kind of false user input, like a keyboard problem?

...you may have a Trojan call a expert...or a exorcist...
also have you split wine on it or has it been exposed to magnets or experiments lately?
also delet old programs it could be a lag-like-thing from having to much on a computer

Keyboard has neither been exposed to anything, nor has anything happened regarding the keyboard that would've caused it to start screwing up. Hell you can't even tell it to open something like windows media using only the keyboard anyway, so that doesn't make sense that it would somehow be the cause.

And I don't see how it can be lag either, because it's not as if I've told it to do anything for it to lag out from the work. Besides which I compressed and deleted a bunch of files about 2 weeks ago and then tried to defrag the hardrive, only to be told it didn't need it doing, so it's not like there's too much old shit clogging it up.

Virus checker still hasn't found anything in 63k files so far.

EDIT FOR BELOW: Is not a laptop.

IF you have a laptop with the touchpad. Someone could have programmed the corners of those touchpads to do those things. I know I have with mine. Its really quite nice to have quick buttons to do stuff on IE and opening stuff and such.

there is also the possibility that someone is hacking your computer in real time. Although very unlikely as it would be pointless work with no benifit what-so-ever

Try disconnecting the *whichever cable you use to connect your PC to the internet* and see if it returns to normal, if so then your PC is being hacked in real time, just like Aerozord said.

Well yeah, a keyboard doesnt do E-Mail and Media alone. Unless you have a media keyboard, which I wasnt counting out.

Clear out your cache and cookies, get a copy of AVG (free should work fine), run an AVG scan (if there's crap on your comp, it WILL find it), and make sure nobody added any of that stuff to your Startup. Also make sure nobody hotkeyed the stuff, because that would be damn annoying.

Also check for suspicious processes. If you're savvy, you should be able to find things that are out of the ordinary. Also look at your family's recent downloads, as your idiot kid brother or someone might have gotten a program with crap attached.

I propose that, instead of trying to fix it, you attempt to give it speech.

Then enter it into one of those AI contests.
