All Star Batman and Robin

Never again wonder why people complain about Frank Miller

I just finished this and couldn't fathom how this ever made it past issue one. Talk about bad writing. I'm ok with the meme, but just not every two sentences! It was like reading the entire internet at once.

I was sad to see Jim Lee's work put through this catastrophe. I'm even more disappointed by Miller's insistence on allowing this volume to remain in his own work's continuity. Screw Frank Miller and Screw DC, I'm going to read Atomic Robo from now on.

Oh, also, how messed up is Teen Titans now? Apparently Robin has accepted his destiny to become an asshole killer?

I agree one hundred percent with all of the above except in my case in italics boldface and size-seven text.

I saw what Miller did to Batman in the 80s and have since stayed far away from anything he writes that doesn't have the initials SC or DD.

Stop me if I'm wrong about this but I thought that Batman Year One and Dark Knight Returns were pretty well liked.

The Dark Knight Returns and The Dark Knight Strikes Again were alright. I mean, I see the connection between those stories and All Star Batman & Robin, but I always imagined that if we're taking a darker road, maybe I can see Bruce turning slightly more sadistic over the years... not starting out as a psychopath though.

Frank Miller has many moments of critical brilliance, but I find his acclaimed work to be overrated, and the rest of it terrible.

I loved DKR and Year One. Was especially nice to see Batman Begins with Year One in mind.

Dark Knight Strikes Again felt like someone drove up to his house with a briefcase full of money and left before he could refuse, hitting the mediocre spot. DKR felt like it wrapped everything up nicely and I didn't see the point in continuing, especially letting Superman essentially become the world's biggest moron.

Over the years Frank Miller has gone from a parody of himself to a parody of a parody of himself to just a skeevy old man obsessed with little kids and whores.

Pretty much every woman ever except Wonder Woman.

Damn it I started out liking ASB+R okay despite all of it's corniness and Frank Miller's inability to stop talking but my affection for the comic is dwindling like crazy. Either Jim Lee's art makes me like bad comics or Nique and Fifth are generating 'hate vibes' that are contagious.

I enjoyed TDKR when I first read it. I now have a much greater understanding of graphic novels and cannot get through it. It's not that good, IMHO.

As for Year One, I found it completely unremarkable.
