The Clone Wars - movie

So, it opens tomorrow - Aug 15.

Anyone is even going to bother checking it out?

I hope they arent crapping over the Clone Wars cartoon (which was more of a complete meal than all of the 3 new trilogy movies anyway) also, critics are saying that it is just a push in to drive people to watch the new TV series...

Overall, im hardly impressed and just might pick it up as a rental sometime...

I'll go see it because I'm a Star Wars nut.

And then promptly post here to talk about it. :p

I'll probably end up seeing it even though I suspect it will be terrible and nowhere near as good as the cartoon.
I really don't like the look of the movie from what I've seen. Something about hte animation is weird.

I'll go see it. Why? Because of hope. Because I hope it could actually be good (enough). I hope.

And because I work for the local movie theater chain and can get in for free.

Arhra 08-14-2008 08:12 AM

I have already seen it because I had free tickets.

I probably wouldn't see it if I actually had to pay money. Some of the battles were quite pretty, but the plot kind of sucked. It wasn't just the fact that Count Dooku's evil plot could be seen through by a six year old but the fact he kept going "Mwahahaha! All according to plan!"

Anakin having a padawan vaguely creeps me out. Mainly because of the "Wait... so why did she disappear before other clone wars realted movies/shows started?" It bodes, I tells ya.

Really, the stand out characters were probably the battle droids. They're hilariously moronic.

Oh, and Jabba's nephew was pretty cute.

Jabba's nephew?! Doesn't Anakins daughter choke Jabba to death!?
Why is it that they have a whole galaxy of people places and things, but every event seems to be related to the same fifteen people?!

Arhra 08-14-2008 09:03 AM

Well, the main plot is Jabba's nephew has gotten kidnapped.

If they can track him down, Jabba can probably be sweet-talked into letting the Republic use his trade routes to move troops.

Of course, its a painfully obvious Sith ploy to make it look like the Jedi kidnapped the Hutt, which they do via the clever method of Dooku telling Jabba that the Jedi kidnapped his nephew and then showing him a picture of Anakin with the Hutt after they'd stormed the place he was being held because they'd been kind enough to do it while Dooku was in the middle of his talk with Jabba.

So convincing!

And the reason is because everyone and everything in Star Wars is inbred to a ludicrous degree.

You know that starfighter Obi-Wan left behind on Geonosis in Attack of the Clones due to getting captured? Wedge Antilles pinched it.

Don't even get me started on the hijinks Darth Vader's glove has gotten up to.

I'm honestly amazed anyone else knows about that.
