No. Even if you hated it absolutely, you could still take some solace in the fact that the events of CC might have revolved around a parallel universe without actually affecting your favourite characters. My game will note in as many places as possible that it is the "true" story of the events that happened in Chrono Trigger, and replaces that game in the series' canon.

Edit: And while I'm at it, I'll replace the old game's battle system with classic Dragon Warrior turn based combat, where you never actually see your own characters.

Cross was an okay game but completely unrelated to Chrono Trigger except in the most tenuous of strings.

Bit's remake idea sounds like beating Trigger to death with the Square-Enix dildo.
