Fallout 3 Gameplay Videos

Um, this looks awesome. I mean I totally understand that it isn't really Fallout and whatever, but, um, wow. |
Holy. Shit.
Mister Burke is a creepy S.O.B. |
It's got some of the most awkard and stilted conversations I've seen in years and the combat looks pretty damn iffy, but the power fist was wonderful.
|
The conversation is pretty par for the course for Bethseda. Maybe if we're lucky they'll get someone capable of writing to fix it up a little before final release. I doubt it, though.
The environments are amazing, and it does look to have a damn good amount of openendedness to it in what kind of person you're going to be and how that's going to shape the world as well: "You got something to prove?" "There's a new sheriff in town". I'd assume this means you shoot his ass and take over. Awesome. Combat could either be amazing or clunky and annoying looking at this video. I'm leaning toward amazing, however. Loved the power fist and the rail spike gun. V.A.T.S. is the part which could be great or terrible and I'm not sure yet. I'm not particularly fond of the way they totally ripped off the little dude from Bioshock's video presentations. I mean, I realize he was kind of a common artistic style and no one can really own him, but when one game does it to simulate a certain timeline gone wrong and then another game does it a few years later, it's hard to believe it's not a total rip. Though it is amusing, and I'll probably get over that soon enough. The wasteland was absolutely amazing, as well, from a graphical standpoint. Just wow. I'm sincerely hoping they have a few different KINDS of wasteland, however, instead of it being like oblivion where, despite the amazing size of the world, it didn't matter if you were just outside the imperial city or off in Anvil, it looked like you were in the same damn forest. I don't really expect much better, however. On the (extremely) bright side, the leveling system seems like something I won't need to immediately download a mod to fix. This is good, because it was my major gripe in Oblivion, and I don't want to wait for the modding community to fix it to play. Speaking of, as someone who hasn't played the first two games (and really really should, I know), I'm looking forward to this at this point pretty hard. It looks like it might have some problems, but it also looks like it's going to be fun as hell, so I'm not going to to complain too much. |
actually, Krylo, that "little dude" was in the first 2. Hes plastered all over stuff in the menus and such.
|
Yeah, see, I didn't play the first two.
And like I said, he's really just a fifties-sixties cultural icon, but my first thought when I saw him with all that stuff was bioshock. Speaking of, does anyone know where I can get the first two, preferably online as I'm impatient (but promoting piracy is against board rules, so you know, paid for). |
The only thing Im kinda cheesed off about is that from waht I can tell, you have no partners, meaning I cant sell them to slavers when I need money.
|
Yeah, that's Vault Boy. And it really wouldn't be Fallout without Vault Boy.

You can nuke the first town you come to. Wow, it's not often you get to say that. This does look extremely awesome. Ever since I heard about this game I had this distinct picture in my mind of how I wanted it to work and these vids confirm my thoughts exactly. I've been wanted a free roaming post-apoc game for ages and this is absolutely perfect.
However I, like Krylo, am a little dubious about these V.A.T.S. I mean they look awesome, but is there a limit to how much you can use them, cos otherwise they seem to spell instant kill every time, or at least they did during those vids. Could make the game ridicoulusly easy. All in all though it's looking pretty sweet. |
