Voters?
I've asked this question before, but that was a while ago.
Anyways, I was just curious, how many people here are registered to vote? And, more to the point, how many have actually ever voted, and for what did you vote (senator, school board, el presidente, etc.)? |
I will be registered to vote as soon as I turn 18 in December. And I plan to vote at every election in my district, state, and country. I'll make time for it.
|
The same here, except I turn 18 next October. But to tell you the truth, politics are beginning to become a mockery of the country itself.
And with that title, your Seraph Libra, right? |
Nein. Why bother to vote in a system where what I think literally cannot affect who becomes president?
|
Because not all elections are about who becomes president. What about local elections for mayor, or state elections for governer, senators, and representives? I recall a recient election in a town in California was determined by a game of straight poker, because their charter called for a game of chance when there was a tie.
A single vote would have mattered there. |
I'm exsited as hella, cause now I can vote. (Bush for president for another four years! w00t! ^_^)
AND, I might get jury duty! Most people think it's a drudgery, I look at it as deciding someone's fate. >: D Immaging it, weilding the power of a thumbs up or a thumbs down. Being the sole differance between a life of imprisonment, and freedom's beautiful grasp. My choice could allow someone to live life happiely, or die sorrounded by cold steel bars.. >: ) God I wish they'd let me become a police officer... |
Yeah, but most often you don't get jury duty in high profile cases like murder and stuff.
|
i got jury duty two weeks after turning 18. My parents have never had it in their entire life.

I voted in my last provincial election. I had never planned to vote because it's my beleif that unless I actually like the party, they're not worth voting for.
I don't buy into the less evil beleif because politicians tend to justify their policies on having been voted in, and it's simply unthinkable to give a politician my vote knowing that they'll treat it like a rubber stamp of approval for their misguided decisions. People say "If you didn't vote, than don't complain about the government," but as long as I couldn't have voted for what I wanted, I really don't buy their reasoning. I remembered at the last minute that the Communists have a party in Ontario so I decided to vote for them. There was no chance they'd get elected, but I voted anyway as a matter of principal. I felt that as long as the Federal government was controlled by someone else, we wouldn't have to worry about turning into the Soviet Union and having our humans rights thrown out the window. All the socialism with none of the mass murder, sounds good to me. |
i finally registered to vote in august so that i'd be able to vote in the california gov. recall out here in the west. a little late i'll admit (im 20) but it put Ah-nold on the seat. why did i do it? i didnt want bustamante in, plain and simple.
